Another Patreon-sponsored review time, this time about... Moomins?! HURRAY!!
...Well, to be more specific, it's Moomins and the Comet Chase, a 2010 Compilation Movie based on Polish series.
...still, MOOMINS!!

I assure you, I'm perfectly trustable personThis light and soft movie sure got dark and ominous near the end. The comet just deciding not to hit sure was convenient!
This problem of introducing stakes or conflicts that get resolved immediately is something I see more often in children's media. Some writers seem to feel children can't handle any sort of sustained tension, it seems.
Hope shines brightest in the darkest timesThe final batch of Patreon reviews has Linkara take a look at the infamous storyline Avengers Disassembled, aka the storyline where the Scarlet Witch went crazy and killed a bunch of heroes for the first time:
In fairness, we don’t know where Englehart was going with that since he was pushed off the book mid arc
Byrne just had the two get back together with minimum explanation because he had other marriages to ruin
… a weird era of marriage breaking in that book.
Anyway. Point being. Yeah, every character has a period of bad characterization from a writer that just doesn’t get it. It seems especially notable with Bendis because he also gives Hawkeye big roles in several events
So honestly I don’t know whether Bendis doesn’t like Hawkeye or likes an imaginary version of the character that only exists in Bendis’ own mind

Forever liveblogging the AvengersIt's particularly noticeable for me because DC's Oliver Queen is often written the same way. So is his sidekick Roy Harper and the Amazon Artemis whose weapons include a bow.
The Big 2 seem to really like the asshole archer archetype. DC admittedly moreso.

It's odd to me that Wanda gets singled out for not earning her powers when most superheroes didn't really earn theirs. This story was written at a time when she was part of a race whose genes granted them superpowers. If Wanda ends up like this because she didn't earn her power, then arguably every anti-mutant bigot is right about all mutants being ticking time bombs ready to go off.
I know the tier which lets you choose an episode topic only goes up randomly, but is there a particular time of day it tends to go live? Any particular weekday or time of month it tends to happen?
Ukrainian Red CrossWhat events are he covering for Event Comics month this year?

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadHe called it Secret Crusade of the Dark Convergence
So probably Secret War or Secret Wars, Infinity Crusade to round off the trilogy, some dark multiverse thing, and Convergence
Probably
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThe last one was on Avengers: Disassembled, or "who are we going to temporarily kill off this time: the comic".
I'm kind of baffled at how these studio rules work. So because one series gets to kill off random characters, no one can write stories about them until they are resurrected again?

Hope shines brightest in the darkest times

I think having the final match be a Yu-Gi-Oh! match was always the plan. Lewis said the tournament arcs in Yu-Gi-Oh! were the main inspiration for the Contest of Champions, the story sets up early on that matches involving games were allowed, the Bandit Chief mentions playing card games in his early appearances and the fact he's voiced by LittleKuriboh (aka, the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh! The Abridged Series) all show signs this wasn't a last minute decision to wrap the story up quicker. It honestly might've been quicker to do a straight-up fight than plan out a Yu-Gi-Oh! match between two competent players.
It just comes across as anticlimatic because this was planned to be a finale for a story arc that was meant to only last about a year, not be the longest running arc in the entire series.
