x4 - Konami didn’t make a console game when the animated series was at the height of its popularity (and before what happened with the writer came out). They will never make a full console gale again.
Portrait of ruin is great. Definitely worth a shot.
"when you stare too long into the abyss, Xehanort takes advantage of the distraction to break into your house and steal all your shit."The main characters are especially charming.
"No will to break."Portrait is good but it's probably the weakest of the DS trilogy.
Well, when it's sandwiched between the awesomeness that are Dawn of Sorrow and Order Of Ecclesia, it's tough not to be Overshadowed by Awesome.
"No will to break."It's actually my favorite, owing to more streamlined gameplay than Dawn and (IMO) better character work than Ecclesia, but they're all fantastic; the DS Castlevanias are among my favorite games, period.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."According to this article from The Hollywood Reporter regarding creeps in the comic book industry, Netflix WILL be using the material Ellis has done for Castlevania's fourth season, but any hypothetical future seasons after that will NOT involve him whatsoever.
(Sources say that while Ellis has completed work on the upcoming season of Castlevania, he will not be back for potential future seasons).
Like I said, good riddance to bad rubbish.
Well Castlevania is free now, and at least there were other talented people who worked on this show besides Warren Ellis. They shouldn't suffer because of a creep. Also hopefully Hector will get some ground back and a certain Vampire dies horribly.
Like there were a couple of people who had to keep him on task because Ellis wasn't really interested in the lore of Castlevania.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Likewise, I hope the adaptation Crunchyroll is doing for one of Ellis' other works doesn't suffer either.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterHonestly despite liking season 3, i'm glad the creepier moments in the writing may be gone moving forward with Ellis gone.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Really? When was that ever stated?
One Strip! One Strip! It was in an interview where Ellis stated he never really played Castlevania and really took inspiration from hammer horror when writing, like that's why S.T Germain is not a time traveler but more like a wandering court mage. The producer and animators were the ones made the series feel like Castlevania.
I'll do my best to look for it. It's been a while.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Huh. That explains a lot.
I mean, the series was great, but I do wish he'd actually researched the story he was doing, especially since he did apparently claim it was primarily his vision.
So, I guess this means that if we do see more season, it'll have stronger ties to the source material....but I'm not sure if that's good or bad honestly.
One Strip! One Strip! That explains why Season 3 was so terrible.
Like I said in the other thread, knowing my luck, Season 4 is the most Warren Ellis season yet and the show just gets axed (Or Cross-boomeranged) afterwards. In a perfect world, we move on to the other Belmonts.
Depends if the story is good ultimately.
I'm hoping season 4 has the eternal hunt against Dracula coming back every hundred years begin for the Belmont family, like that's the perfect way to end Trevor's arc. That he has to pass on his legacy after spending so much time being the last Belmont.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.See, this confirms what I already suspected about the netflix series. And it also is kind of an example of exactly what should happen with an adaption like this; have a fresh perspective to create something that is its own thing while paying respect to the original and keep things from going too off the rails. Kind of the best of both worlds.
Shame about one particular hire, though.
Bleye knows Sabers.Fair enough. Him having never played the games did ensure he was willing to go outside of the canon in a good way, while making sure there were people who were familiar with the source material to keep him on rails.
With luck, we'll find new writers who can mimic that recipe for success.
One Strip! One Strip!Yup. Shouldn't be too hard to find someone who isn't going to commit Running the Asylum while simultaneously be willing to play ball with the fans though, Castlevania was super popular but that's a pretty big emphasis on the was.
Bleye knows Sabers.More to the point, they might not ignore characters who'd otherwise have probably never made it on screen in Ellis' version.
Like, I shudder to think how he'd have portrayed Rondo era Maria.
We can't even get him to put Grant in, so I'm not sure what would have happened to her. SOTN era Maria would have probably been ok.
Edit: Random thought. If they ever went back to the N64 era and decided to give us more with Reinhardt and Carrie (and maybe Henry, but not Cornell unfortunately, since he's lost his Wolfman powers), what would you like to see done with them:
I'd actually love for them to add to Carrie's moveset by transposing The Sega Saturn version of Adult Maria onto her. Sure, they only have the energy ball attacks, and you'd probably need to change the names of the spells to remove the connection to the four holy beasts, but most of the spells are pretty distinct from Maria's classic abilities anyway (Byakko summons a stream of fire for one thing). It would widen the girl's move pool in a good way I'd say, as she's got a pretty sparse one for a mage character (though that may stem from her age).
Plus, it'd be a good way to get something out of Saturn Maria, who ultimately seems to have been forgotten (though that's mainly because Saturn SOTN is a bad game).

One Strip! One Strip!Found the interview. Yeah it’s the directors who are the huge Castlevania nerds.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. One of the characters in The Authority was a reality warping 3 year old. Assuming that character was created during Ellis' run, Maria would be fine.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterIt's in Curse of darkness, Hector's game ironically.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Always has been. -Ohio astronauts meme-
Bleye knows Sabers.
It's a solid Metroidvania, I'd say it's worth it.
