Quick poll: do the video games (if a new one ever comes out) need to add more vampires?
Cause watching Netflix made me realize that outside of Drac there are no real recurring vampire characters (Granted I speak as someone who has only played 4 gamesnote and finished 2note ). Yes, there are characters like Carmilla, Walter Bernhard, Elizabeth Bathroy and Count Brauner but none have a real presence as a "Castlevania staple/recurring element," so to say. Like, I wouldn't mind a more Netflix-esque version of Carilla or even adding Godbrand as a new boss, for example.
I don't think there were many recurring vampires in the series beyond Carmilla (who wasn't even around during this time) and I think Shaft....is Shaft even a vampire?
Also, I'm now imagining the entire series if all the different Belmonts were just swinging around Sara by the leg.
It just popped in my head all of a sudden, but I Regret Nothing.

One Strip! One Strip!Speaking of, I kinda wonder if in the show's timeline if Carmilla already has a vamped Laura waiting at home or if it predates the novel if they're going to mention that at all.

Is Laura a vampire? I thought she was something else.
EDIT: One wiki check later says yes. So why the cat features? That's weird.

Mega Man fanatic extraordinaireProbably a reference to the book, where Carmilla could transform into a giant cat.
Having finished watching that recap series, I only have this to say:
I don't know what the Lords of Shadow series is but it's not Castlevania.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! It's out there, I'll admit it.
I do rather like the Lords of Shadow rendition of Simon (the physical appearance) as he really captures that Barbarian look that originally defined the latter before IGA bishi-fied him.
One Strip! One Strip!Oh, yeah, Simon looks great. I'm also not judging their quality as games or as stories. I'm just saying that they're not Castlevania games.
I also hate how the Belmonts are basically just a bunch of failures unless you're Gabriel.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Yes, having more Vampires in Castlevania is a great idea. Not a single game has included a Quirky Miniboss Squad of gimmicky vampires and that's a missed opportunity.
In the show Laura definitely exists, no way Warren Ellis would miss giving us lesbian vampires.
And yeah I'm still kinda sad Lords of Shadow largely abandoned what I like about Castlevania. I'm sure it's a decent series on its own merits though.
Bleye knows Sabers. The Belmonts work like this
Leon The First
Trevor The First to defeat Dracula as a vampire though he had help
Simon The First to defeat Dracula alone and Then beat him again to undo the dying curse
Christopher, The Second Belmont to beat Dracula back to Back unlike Simon who needed to revive Drac in a Year due to the whole Death curse thing, Chris defeated the Vampire after retirement'15 years later' since his son was set to take the VK
Juste, Best Fashion sense
Richter Kicked Drac's ass so hard Drac lost his I'll be back reincarnation and needs others to revive him... May be Shonen Jesus
Julius, The Guy who Killed Drac... Permanently the only Belmont considered stronger then Richter
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!I think Julius rivals Juste in the "best fashion sense" department. The other's are spot on.
Also: BDSM-Barbarian Simon is best Simon.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitter...So how about a Muse MUSOU style Castlevania game?
The series is not lacking in characters, so I'm sure they would have enough. They could crib the Crisis Crossover concept from Judgement (and maybe go a bit less crazy with character designs), use alternate timelines as an excuse for characters outside the main series, like Lords of Shadow and even Legends, finally bringing Sonia back into prominence...
Hell, they could even give combat skills to characters not known for it.
Suddenly, Annette and Lydie can save themselves.
Good idea...or great idea?
Edit: That's because Auto-correct is still my nemesis.

One Strip! One Strip! It's a great idea but I have no idea what Muse style is.
Bleye knows Sabers.I agree with regarding Julius rivaling Juste in regards to fashion sense but Juste is the most FABULOUS Belmont so it works out.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Autocorrect is the devil.
Okay yes as a Connoisseur of Warriors games I can say Castlevania has what it takes to be a decent Omega-Force outing. I can practically see the heroes hacking through formations of helpless skeletons already.
The franchise cast is enormous and as Hyrule Warriors taught us there's absolutely nothing wrong with throwing two-note NP Cs in with completely out-of-nowhere moves too.
There'd probably be at least three Belmonts, all wielding the Vampire Killer with slightly different movesets. Like, Simon could go full BDSM Barbarian and have a lot of throws and kicks mixed in with his whipping while Richter would have over-the-top flash and Trevor would have a more tricky style with a bunch of feints where he puts distance between him and his opponent. I'd want Sonia in myself of course but hey.
Jonathan Morris could be in wielding a variety of weapons, with a Running Gag about him having a fourth Vampire Killer but still being unable to use it. Have his basic attack strings be him swinging a simple sword but pull out a giant axe, the rose-thorn whip or a spear for the C1, C2 and C3. Charlotte can be a part of his Musou and Special attacks since there are already plenty of mage girls to go around and to emphasize their installment's focus on teamwork.
You definitely need Eric Ricard in there, you'd need a dedicated polearm user. Bishonen Bloodlines version or rugged cool old guy version, which would be neat to actually see in action this time. I WOULD be kinda more interested in playing as Stella and Loretta though because I think they'd both have incredibly awesomely flashy movesets.
Shanoa would probably have the coolest attacks though. I feel like Judgement didn't quite do her repertoire justice.
Edited by ShirowShirow on Nov 5th 2018 at 1:01:09 PM
Bleye knows Sabers.Au contraire, Judgement is what convinced me Shanoa has the coolest fighting style in the entire series. Her outfit on the other hand...
Speaking of Judgement, if Cornell makes it in a CV Musou, he needs to have his Judgement attire.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterDon't get me wrong, she has some cool moves in Judgement. The way she'll pull out an entire arsenal for every attack string is damn stylish. But I really wanted some of the stuff she pulls off in Ecclesia to show up. The way she can freakin' MACHINEGUN rapier strikes for one. And more importantly, her Infinity -1 Sword in the form of the Cerberus heads doesn't make an appearance despite being the coolest weapon combo in the entire franchise.
Also, Shanoa can straight-up fly. Other CV protagonists can transform into owls or ascend in barely-controllable manner with flying uppercuts but Shanoa's the only one I know of that can grow wings and fly with little repercussion or downside.
Speaking of Judgement costumes, I love Grant's attire. It's terrible and he should never canonically appear in it again but I want it to be unlockable or something just so I can show off how deliciously garish it is.
You know who I legitimately want to show up in a CV Warriors game though? Bill Rizer and/or Browny.
Edited by ShirowShirow on Nov 5th 2018 at 1:58:58 PM
Bleye knows Sabers.I think her cerberus heads do appear, but only as part of a combo.
If a CV musou is made, I hope it's more in the Sengoku Basara or Senran Kagura style. I prefer doing sick air combo's and special moves in my musou's.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterMight as well return the favor with the Simon boss in Hardcore. Also obligatory Yamane plug.
I've been looking at this thread for a while. I'm not sure if it can go a page without mentioning Sonia Belmont and I'm not sure if that's deserved.
You take that back she is a goddamn queen.
Look at her official artwork! If that doesn't scream Defrosting Ice Queen nothing does! She has more personality than half the other Belmonts despite having the second-fewest pixels!
Bleye knows Sabers.Sonia >>>>> Simon
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterShe's cool as a concept and what little we have is interesting, just would be nice if there was more. That's basically my summation. Who knows, maybe that Dreamcast game would've been decent, maybe not.
Good thing we do have other ladies in the franchise.
"No will to break."
Isaac is vastly improved, his sexuality has nothing to do with him being evil, not that necessarily his game counterpart was, but it's not upfront as a villainous trait, he's largely still a villainous character, but he has several admirable qualities to him. Carmilla is also a very interesting character, not that she did all that much in the games.
