Huh. How have I missed this thread?
I only vaguely remember the old 8-bit Castlevania games except for the Gamebody Castlevania, and only because the soundtrack quoted Debussy.
However, I still play Symphony from time to time. Never finished a Richter game, I always get bored of it. Although the blade dash never gets old.

Play Again? Y/NAh, Castle Vania.
More games need scantily-clad succubi that scream in orgasmic ecstacy when you kill them.
Yup.
The only thing sexier than The succubi's death cry echo, is the Japanese's death cry
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Gah... I've been reading Portrait of Ruin reviews. I think I might need to lie down.
Anyway, why don't we do the dark side of the awards? We'll start with the easiest Death's, then move on to our least favorite death/dracula/other.
Easiest Classicvania Death: Bloodlines (not counting the boss rush)
Easiest Metroidvania Death: Symphony
I just got the true ending of Aria of Sorrow. I'm actually kind of surprised at how quickly I beat it. I only got this game a few days ago, and it usually takes me a few months to beat any game. It was still really good though and I'm looking forward to picking up the sequel when I get a chance.
Also I just realized this means unless we count me beating the Japanese version of Castlevania 3 (with savestates), this makes the first Castlevania game I've ever beaten.

WHO IS THIS LOSEREasiest Classicvania Death: CV Original Although
Easiest Classicvania Dracula: Not sure. Most, if not all of them, are predictable by now. But that doesn't mean they're easy.

ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Easiest Classicvania Death? I'm guessing none of you have played CV 2, then? Hands down, bar none, no debate, the easiest Death of them all. You don't even need to FIGHT him, for one thing. And all he does is slowly float towards you, occasionally throwing easily-destroyed sickles. Have one Laurel for invincibility and he's an utter pushover.
Easiest Classicvania Dracula? Again, watch some Youtube videos of the CV 2 Dracula Battle. You can destroy him before he even gets off an attack. And even if he does start attacking... Well, there's those Laurels, again.
Easiest Metroidvania Death? That's tougher... I'm honestly not certain, but I'd have to go with COTM Death. His attacks are fairly well telegraphed and dodged. Could be wrong, it has been a while since I've played, but I seem to recall that Death giving me the least problems. Which is interesting, considering how every other boss in that game will kick your ass left, right, and center. (Especially the Zombie Dragons.)
Easiest Metroidvania Dracula? For first form, Dracula Wraith from HOD. Absolutely nothing new in his attacks. Triple fireball and giant meteors. Second form does ramp up the difficulty a bit, though.
Don't take life too seriously. It's only a temporary situation.I kid, I kid. Yeah. I love throwing a piece of Garlic and watching each boss die a slow epileptic death once they come into contact into it
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Favorite Castlevania song outside of the big 3/4/5?
Mine is Tower Of Dolls
Castlevania 3
- Clockwork
- Mad Forest
- Dead Beat
- Dracula Battle
(Link goes to Boss 2, his first form, because I feel it's better-paced)
Harmony of Dissonance
Portrait of Ruin
There's probably more I'm forgetting, especially from Harmony of Dissonance.

WHO IS THIS LOSERSome of my favorite picks.
Castlevania 1: Wicked Child
. I also love the MSX version
(the bell sounding notes during the crescendo especially)
Simon's Quest: Dwelling Of Doom
. Very baroque.
Dracula's Curse: Aquarius
Super Castlevania IV: The Submerged City
. I'd love to hear a remix.
Bloodlines: Iron Blue Intention
Belmont's Revenge: Psycho Warrior
and Chromastiche Phantasie
. (Best boss music ever?}
Rondo Of Blood: Picture Of The Ghost Ship
(Love that 90's synth)
Harmony Of Dissonance: Marble Corridor
Aria Of Sorrow: Top Floor
OH GOD WHY CAN'T YOU CHANGE THE CONTROLS IN RICHITER MODE
AHHHHHH THIS IS SO AWKWARD TO ME
WHO IS THIS LOSERIt's impossible for me to take the above as anything other that shameless lies, not only because of my own experiences (I have yet to beat him on normal Richter mode, and lord knows I've been trying), but also because it takes a really really long time to get Grand Crux, even with the Master Ring. By the time I got it, I was level 60+, and had gone through the Nest of Evil many many times.
Well, I found him very very difficult, so I suppose YourMileageMayVary.
And I only assumed you were powering at the nest because you said you used Grand Crux, which is incredibly difficult to get any other way.

True. Could be because I had just come off of Ecclessia, which was OBNOXIOUS! Also, easiest end boss besides dracula is definitely Chaos. Take that summon soul that turns you into the big blade thing that constantly moves forward(the one you use to get under the waterfall...), and you can destroy both bottom eyes in a matter of seconds.
:smug:

Belmont's Revenge is great, but the Skeledragon King boss fight in the first stage of Dracula's castle is pretty much a slugfest and an endurance test. If Christopher was a little faster, that boss fight would also be too easy, So Yeah
