Ok it was mentioned there is not a thread for Law Enforcement Officers (LEO for short)and other similar jobs for discussion.
This is for discussing the actual jobs, ranks, training, culture, relations to military bodies that exist, and any other variety of topics that can arise pertaining to the World of Policing.

Technology like that is so fascinating, it could make law enforcement so much more efficient. I just love it. (Also your link is behind a paywall)
Heard about that, if true it's certainly vile.

@China and their AI:
Companies are helping police develop artificial intelligence they say will help them identify and apprehend suspects before criminal acts are committed.
I see Hydra found work after season 4 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
I tried to walk like an Egyptian and now I need to see a Cairo practor....Funny, I actually saw Minority Report just yesterday... And I thought that if it worked well, it could save a lot of lives, but never thought I would see it in my lifetime, only to be likely misused by the CCP.
Life is unfair...There was a Ben Affleck movie about being able to predict undesirable effects. All they accomplished was a bunch of Self-Fulfilling Prophecy and Stable Time Loops.
That too.

The king asshole may have escaped but not all of his underlings are free and clear.
Baltimore police tape themselves planting evidence... again
. And it's a different group of officers in an entirely different case from the one that hit the news two weeks ago.
Baltimore city police and their misadventures with body cams are starting to remind me of a quote from The Wire, when one police commander is giving a briefing to his officers: "Listen up you mutts, this is complicated. Well, it's not complicated if you went to college, or, I don't know, your mothers stopped drinking for a minute while they were pregnant. But for Baltimore city police, this is complicated."
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |Clarste: Possibly but also the cops are likely abusing their power to target groups or individuals they don't like or approve of.
Cross Posted from both gun threads.
Daniel Crowninshield of Sacramento was arrested in 2014 for work at C&G Tool, a metal shop in North Sacramento. Marketing himself as 'Dr. Death,' Crowninshield made lower receivers for AR-15s and other firearms. The lower receiver holds mechanical parts like the hammer, bolt, and firing mechanism that combine with a trigger, firing pin, and other parts to make up a firearm, and can cost anywhere from $50 to $300. Customers would give Crowninshield a metal casting known as a blank, and he would then use a CNC mill to turn that casting into a fully-functioning lower receiver

Probably easier and cheaper to deport and bar them for life.
In other news, Mounties in BC have recovered a less lethal gas grenade launcher that fell out of a truck. Thankfully the citizen who found it was honest and/or smart enough to realize that trying to keep the thing was asking for trouble.
