@Alicorn: I must congratulate you for writing the best defense for Twilight I had ever read. To be honest, I too had fallen among the "uncharitable" side of the fandom, despite having genuinely liked the books (and the first movie, gorgeous landscapes) back before I actually met the Fan Dumb and Hate Dom. Thank you for helping me make a Guilty Pleasure legitimate.

Rather than phoenix, maybe it was in florida? Or even Forks, if Edward is a nomad, him (and maybe his family) wouldn't be around there at any pace
Honestly, the problem with a People Drinking! Edward is that he wouldn't be able to control his thirst, Bella is his singer and even vegetarian vampire has problem with them.
But maybe Edward stil a vegan nomad he just never returned to his family after his "batman years"??
Bella also could be turned by another vampire, it doesn't need to be Edward. It would make less likely to have Elspeth though, unless said vampire wanted to preserve...
...maybe it could be Joham? He might decide to develop a brain and realize that you can't create a master race if the master race!moms are killed so quickly, or he has a special interest in witches or something?

"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.I don't think, tho, that that'd be a necessary result of the power in and of itself. It's the problem of doing the right thing for the wrong reason, or the wrong thing for the right reason, and so on and so forth.
You know, more and more human blood seems almost like an addiction to vampires. They love the way it smells and tastes and it's this almost uncontrollable urge. But it means murder.
I like bluelantern's idea. Or maybe Alice does it because she saw something. -shrug-
ophelia, you're breaking my heart
Alice wouldn't be able to see Bella since her turning would be around Elspeth. Maybe Nathan? Extreamly good timing. Heh. Would have to ask Alicorn if I could use him though... should also ask if I can use Elspeth aswell...
Need someone that would turn and run, not giving Bella and Elspeth any clue as to what happened.

Need a reason for them to remove their memories... okay, random thought. Maybe the Volturi have a rule that says that you have to have permission to turn someone ala Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, and the vampire that turned Bella doesn't want to implicated at all in her turning... or something.
Eh... I'm not sure about that.
Also, they wouldn't be able to erase Bella's memories, and really wouldn't have a need to since she would probably be passed out- dying. Would only have to erase Elspeths memeories.

- a Bella who has to understand the ins and outs of the vampire world on her own
- Needed: Bella can't have vampire contact post-turning, and very limited vampire contact pre-turning
- a Bella independent of Edward
- Needed: Vampire!Bella can't see Edward, and Edward needs to be kept at a distance from Bella (likely against his will)
- a Bella turned vampire with an Elspeth
- Needed: to "be" Elspeth, and not only Bella's child, we need Bella and Edward to make the horizontal dance
But I doubt that he was even thinking about her when he was feeding. Bella would be able to eventually gather up her thoughts and think about what had happened leading up to her turning.
Though maybe enough would have passed and she wouldn't be able to remember Edwards face clearly.
I would prefer her to be unmated until much later in the story.

Here's how I think of matebonds working in that department:
People have a variety of possible mates (although not necessarily all alive at one time; for instance, if Addy had any possible mates currently alive and in the right age range, she would have seen one immediately upon borrowing Alice's power). If this were not the case, prohibitively few vampires would ever meet mates.
Normally, vampires meet at the same time and the bonds form simultaneously. Or, they meet when one is a human, and that one is turned promptly and soon after sees the other and then it's symmetrical.
However, exceptional cases exist. For instance, Alice saw Jasper as soon as she woke up. From that point on she was mated to him. However, he had no idea she existed until some time later, so he couldn't be mated to her until they actually were in the same place at the same time. That said, he could not be mated to anyone *other than Alice* after that time, either. He was spoken for. Even if he met a woman who was (until Alice turned) a potential mate for him, he wouldn't mate to her and vice-versa. But, if Alice died before she and Jasper met, then he would no longer be spoken for. (He couldn't retroactively mate to someone he'd met already, but uninvestigated possibilities in the pool would be open again.)
So, if Edward entered Bella's life, mated to her, and then left it, and then she turned, she wouldn't be *properly* mated to him, but she would be spoken for, and couldn't mate to anyone else...
Until and unless Edward dies without her having the opportunity to meet him as a vampire.
It is possible for a human to suffer brain damage during turning that won't be fixed by the process?
I just got the idea that to have Bella forget the what she knew about vampires/edward/or-even-herself is that she might got seriously damanged in the head right before or during the turning, the process knitted everything okay, but it couldn't reverse the loss of memories, making Bella remember even less than a normal vampire (or not at all, like Alice). She wakes up with Elspeth already born at her side, and clueless about how she come to be.
EDIT: yes, I know that is the old hit-in-the-head tricky, but I was thinking in something very messy.
given the conditions it could be possible that she knew Edward for sometime and forgot about it, meanwhile Edward is away, maybe even held in the dungeon by the volturri, can a broken vampire create a matebond??

"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.I was going to have Edward leave voluntarily, after he nearly kills her doing the baby making dance, but eventually can't stand being away from her and returns several months later, only to find that she is dead- or everyone, her mother, step father, friends ect, believe she is dead.
Bella also didn't really know much about Edward when she was human. He was a strange creepy boy that she suspected was stalking her. But I think I'm going to retink that angle, because if she still thinks that when they have sex, it'll probably not be consentual. I can't imagine Bella agreeing to get it on with a creepy stalker guy, no matter how good looking he is.
I guss I will have to meet myself half and have them have /some/ sort of relationship. They don't meet in school, since this Edward does not attend high school, so I figure that she has to have a job, where she can see him regually... what do you guys think? Any suggestions?

Are you going to make her still live in Phoenix? Remember that Edward won't have much opportunity but see her at night if she still in a sunny place.
giving her a job actually sounds like a good idea to force her stay in the same place "forcing" her to have to deal with Edward.
EDIT: It will be VERY hard to Bella have sex with Edward without noticing the little quirks that show that he isn't human.
maybe she could work in a place music-related, and this Nomad!Edward "only" pastime is music (he might even have a guitar, and play at the corner, etc)

"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.
She's /just/ turned seventeen, so she hasn't decided to move to Forks yet. She will only see Edward at nights, after school when she starts her shift at a library/coffee place, or something.
He would be sort of creepy coming in everyday when she is working, and asking about the sort of music she likes, what she recommends and such. There are music sections in a library, so I guess that could work. He probably wouldn't be able to stick around long though, since he is a human blood drinker and would have a harder time controlling himself.
So there would be some initial discomfort, but eventually they would start to get along, it would take a while though, and they might go on a couple of dates. Bella would be very suspicious though so it wouldn't go on for long.
I'm going to keep thinking on this. There are some cracks need to figure out.
I *REALLY* am against the idea that he is a human blood drinker, the way they put things, it sound already too much that Vegan!Edward would be able to control himself around Bella, much less a human blood drinker. If still decides to keep with that idea (that I am against), he could be specially weird because he has a habit of avoiding breath aroudn her, so he usually pops in for a short time, make a question and run away when she isn't looking.
"Here to welcome our new golden-eyed overlords," said Addy promptly.

Strangely I'm heading in a totally different direction. Nomad People drinking!Edward finding a Phoenix!Bella. Knowing that she is his mate, he still doesn't turn her, as he is still Edward and doesn't want to destroy her 'soul'. Because I want to include Elspeth they have to do the baby making dance... but I'm having a bit of trouble thinking of any sort of reason Edward would do that, without being married ect.
But what I eventually want is a turned Bella along with Elspeth, having no idea about vampires, animal drinking and the Volturi. So Edward can't be around, but I don't want to kill him. And another problem is how Bella gets turned, I was thinking the Elspeth could be venomous and somehow turned Bella when she was being born. Can't have Edward turning Bella because I doubt he would leave her after that. Bleugh.
If you followed all of that, you deserve a medal.
