This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Why were my editing privileges removed? I am wanting to know why.
"Of course you do realize, this means war!" -Bugs BunnyYou blanked Haiku.Sonic The Hedgehog 2006. We're not too keen on vandalism.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.I didn't know that was vandalism, I won't blank pages again this time. I'll send in my own haiku this time which can be a better decision.
"Of course you do realize, this means war!" -Bugs BunnyDeleting large chunks of a page without leaving a good edit reason is always considered vandalism. I'll restore your editing, but we don't give third chances for this sort of thing.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.You can also add another haiku without deleting the one that is there. Many pages have multiple haiku.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyIf it's not too much of a hassle...I'd love to know why I was suspended. Especially after all the work and contributions I've made... Not to mention, I don't exactly interact with a whole lot of people around - the "lone troper" if you will, lame as hell as that sounds.
@John Casey 21: Seems you've gotten yourself involved in a little Edit War over some images on various Bleach articles. The thing about being a "lone wolf" is that such a person also frequently puts themselves in the "doesn't play well with others" column, and when that happens, the moderators have to get involved to keep things civil.
This is a wiki — it's a community project. You can't be a one-man show, deciding how things go all by yourself. If you feel that you are in conflict with other tropers over something, use the resources available, such as Discussion pages, private messages, the forums, or Ask The Tropers to work it out. Otherwise we see the nail sticking up and, well, here we are.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Okay, I seem to have been suspended from editing, and I'd like to know why.
For blanking Heartwarming pages related to MLP:FIM Recaps.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"@Fighteer: Okay, maybe if I explain my situation things will get cleared? It's true, most of the editing I do here I do based solely on my own discretion, but I always try to play with it in a way that doesn't interfere with anyone else's work. If you look at my history, you'll notice that...I pretty much never gotten any real heat from anyone! Regarding those Bleach character pages, thing is, for being the "lone wolf" that I am, I worked with a few other tropers on that one - including a moderator! And it was a long time ago, but we all agreed on a sort of "base template" on how to approach the pages. To make it as neatly organized as possible. One of the things we decided on was image size (the 2px border was just my addition for consistency) - so the pages essentially wouldn't look random as hell and like crap in general. For a good long while, it's worked out perfectly! Every now and then, images got changed, but nothing was out of place and everyone played nice. Then comes along a troper by the name of IRZEO who started tossing in images of insanely varying sizes and quality - some of them being downright blown-up in photoshop. I revert it, send him a message explaining the correct format by showing the other pages as examples, and generally hope it would've been fine. Lo and behold, he replies calling it ridiculous and name-calling me. Then proceeeds to edit them in again. I admittedly lost my temper then after I reverted, but at least he stopped. Then someone else (I'm assuming it's his sockpuppet) uploads the SAME IMAGES and posts them. So yeah, I got a little bit pissed off. But considering that I was trying to be reasonable at first, it's not exactly fair I get banned without warning.
Now, once again, you're more than welcome to see my edit history and contributions. Then check any past violations I've had. I'm clean, dude. :< I may have overreacted this one time, but this is just coming off as...well...disproportionate retribution. >_>
Fighteer: I was consolidating them all on the series' Heartwarming page.

The point of a ban (or suspension or whatever you want to call it) is to prevent further problems. It doesn't mean that we're kicking you out for good; it just means that we've spotted a violation and have decided to make it so you can't do it again until we've had a talk with you.
Our standard protocol for Edit Warring is to give both parties a Wiki ban, regardless of who's "right." If someone causes problems and reverts your corrections, the correct response is not to engage; instead, you're to bring it up in ATT or the fora. Or you could contact a Mod directly. (Knowthe Staff has a list of the staff, as well as instructions on how to contact us.)
If you promise not to Edit War again, we'll lift the suspension. If you respond to this post, I'll assume that you've read and understood what you should do when someone starts Edit Warring, and that you'll do the right thing next time.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur.@Theoman Zero: Then say so, please. Use the edit reason box. And there's nothing wrong with individual Heartwarming and Awesome pages for recaps that I've ever heard of.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"@Best Of: I pride myself on doing the right thing, man. :< I won't let one stupid mistake I made mess me up.
John Casey 21, there's something you need to be aware of here. On May, you were involved into a mini Edit War on Characters.Bleach, over whether a character prefers being barefoot or not, where I personally warned everybody to stop. Furthermore, the way you handled things this time was extremely poor, as we have discussion pages for this very reason. Lastly, you have evidently been here before.
The wiki is a collaborative project. You were suspended because this was the second time I saw you get in an Edit War over something trivial. The ban is lifted, but there will not be a third time.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerHey - I'm very sorry for blanking those pages; they were for fanfics of mine that were A) officially dead in the water, and B) unpublished. I should have just taken them to the cut list.
Please believe me when I say I won't pull this crap again - I've been an editor on this wiki for a good while, and I have never engaged in deliberate vandalism during the entirety of my tenure here. I understand exactly why I was banned and apologize whole-heartedly for the ill thought-out nature of my actions and any trouble I may have caused the moderating team.

@Theoman Zero: Good to know. Suspension lifted.
@Caits Meow: Same.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"So my editting privleges were suspended. What caused this turn of events?
Damasca Ramza: Edit Waring a Complete Monster entry on YMMV.Final Fantasy XIII-2. Complete Monster is a highly misused and controversial trope, which is why any additions go through a thread dedicated on the subject.
dilong: Sorry, but in that post alone, I can already see three mistakes. Your English is lacking. If you wish to get help, visit this thread.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerAh I see. I was not aware of that, sorry about that then, it won't happen again.
All I did was trying to improve the messy Mario Kart page, and as a result I got banned.
I wanted this: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/VideoGame/MarioKart?from=Main.MarioKart
to look more like this: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Literature/TheMillenniumTrilogy?from=Main.TheMillenniumTrilogy
.
My aim was to make sure someone who had just played one of any of the Mario Kart games still would enjoy reading about the tropes on the Mario Kart article.
edited 26th Sep '12 1:53:38 AM by Spannerjam
You don't get to delete entire chunks of the article like that. Furthermore, you misunderstand the purpose of the page.
The page is a list of all Mario Kart games. Therefore, any tropes about individual games in the series that do not have separate articles belong there. If someone wants to split them whether by organising them into folders or making separate articles that's okay, but deleting them is not acceptable.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - Fighteer

Fair enough. Just don't expect any more chances. And lay off the natter too. Suspension lifted.
