This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Alright thanks. I'll refrain from edit wars and try to keep down on the wordiness of my entries.
All is not lost. Not yet.I can't see anywhere that I implied I was a moderator—moderators have a little "MOD" label under their icons after all. I do not make it a practice to spread disinformation.
A thread was started in ATT asking about the rule that we are not allowed to mention awards won by a work in the introduction to that work. I expressed an opinion that we should be able to mention in an introduction if a work won an EGOT award or a Pulitzer or a Palme d'Or. I wasn't the only one to think that.
Here
is the post from October 2018 where I was addressed by a moderator. I was told
And
I promised below that
And was answered on the next page that
I feel like I've done that. I've been careful to do that.
I'd like to edit again. Sorry, I didn't know I need to index pages after launching them...
~jamespolk: So why do we have cases of you deliberately contradicting a correct moderator application of the spoiler policy
? Or the use of custom titles within disambiguation scenarios
?
These are both within the last month, well after your last suspension was lifted.

"Yup. That tasted purple."~jamespolk: I have a few more for you.
- [1]
"Periodic reminder: Character sheets are bad."
- [2]
"The worst thing about this website is the idea that bad titles shouldn't be changed if they have too many links."
- [3]
"by TV Tropes doctrine we are not allowed to mention any awards in the work description, nowhere on the main page." [...] " it's admitting that we are worse than Wikipedia"
~Krspace T and ~The Sinful: Your suspensions have been released.
~Zet Areda: It's not that specifically. Rather, you have launched at least one TLP without participating in the discussion. That is a direct, absolute violation of Trope Launch Pad rules.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
I guess I didn't view myself as contradicting a moderator in either instance.
Wiki policy is what it is and while I'm not perfect I think I can say I don't violate it. There was a thread about whether Spoilers Off applies to character pages. A moderator said that Spoilers Off does not apply to character pages. I said
Which I thought was true. I thought we were talking about style.
As far as custom titles go, I was expressing my opinion. I thought topic threads in Ask The Tropers were a forum for discussion and debate. I don't violate these policies when I edit. I don't run around stripping spoiler tags out of Character pages (I never edit Character pages). I make many work pages and I do not customize disambiguation titles when I do. Just recently I made an article for animated short Pigs Is Pigs (1954). I had to use a year because there is another animated short by that same title. I didn't customize it as you can see.
Hello. I am wondering about the situation I may have caused that suspended my account. I currently do not wish to reactivate it, I just want to know if I offended someone and needed to apologize.
Exactly what it says on my tin.Hello, I did not know that you had to check with the creator of a page's permission before launching it, and got a message about that (my fault for not knowing that).
I decided to send a message back, but I had already clicked off the site, so I went on my history to click back on the page, accidentally clicked on the page that had been unlaunched (since that was the previous site I had visited) and somehow launched it again, just by clicking on it.
I tried to look on the different pages of Tv Tropes for a way to unlaunch a page, but couldn't find one, and since I had launched a page twice without the creator's consent, I got suspended before I could rectify my mistake.
This has been two mistakes on my part, and I would like to edit again. I have been active since September 3rd of 2018 and this has been the first time something like this has happened on the site.
~jamespolk: "Expressing your opinion" on matters of policy is rarely helpful, unless the topic is specifically about that policy. Whether intentional or not, your outbursts disrupt conversations, create confusion, and misinform the people who are asking the questions.
If you want to have a good-faith debate about our policies regarding spoiler tags, character pages, disambiguating work titles, awards, and such, you are welcome to create or participate in such. Sniping at us over these rules is the second worst way you could approach the matter, next to directly breaking them yourself.
I'm really not sure which is worse: if you're genuinely unaware of how you're behaving or if you're being deliberately evasive.
We're going to leave you suspended for a bit. I want our final decision to be well-considered and unanimous.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~wittylibrarian: You broke our rule about Edit Wars on Boy Meets Girl by replacing a wick to Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming after it was correctly removed, since links to Moments pages and other subjective tropes do not belong in objective examples.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Aaron13: Launching a Trope Launch Pad proposal without participating in the discussion is forbidden. You also launched it to the wrong namespace. If you're going to participate in TLP, you need to follow the rules and do correct work. Otherwise it's not worth having you.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I was going to ask why I'd been suspended but at look at Ask the Tropers shows I added an example to a page twice. Sorry about that. The problem was caused by trying to crosswick Wonder Woman pages, I didn't even realize I had previously added the example and that it had been removed. I'm glad to see Absolute Cleavage has been removed from the Wonder Woman (1975) page as well this time. I'll be more careful about checking page histories in the future should you allow me to continue editing.
That's exactly what we'd ask for, checking edit histories.
Your suspension is released. Thanks for checking in.
~Fighteer
Right. I'm sorry for doing that and will take care to read the rules of TLP next time, although in case of another mistake happening again I might just not go on TLP and stick to editing already-existing pages.
I'm sorry if I came across as careless and for the unnecessary problems I caused.
~Fighteer: Okay, so I checked out Get Help with English
thread and seemed so helpful to use before adding another example. Like I gave it a try by posting a couple of exmaples for proofread before I use this thread again.
I hope this rings any bells for you that I learned a lesson about editing and adding exmaples.

I would be happy to never post in Ask The Tropers again if that would be an acceptable solution.
Or a general forum ban, if you like. I only actively post in two forums and it would be a bummer to not be able to post in Live Action Film anymore but it would be worth it to regain the ability to edit the wiki. I still have work to do de-tagging Franchise Actors...
Sorry for posting twice BTW but it seems that a ban makes it impossible to edit posts.
I realize you're proposing compromises to appease our earlier cited concerns, but Fighteer did ask you to sit on this for the time being. I'm going to restate that.
Any continuing to push in spite of this now twice-stated item will reflect poorly on your case. When we reach a decision as mods, we will advise if either of the above is acceptable.

I'd like to add an example of Fanon as a trope to the YMMV page for Steins;Gate
Edited by NonTroper on Feb 26th 2019 at 10:15:26 AM
For some reason, I am unable to add posts to any threads (other than this one). I never got a suspension notice, so I am wondering what's wrong.
Help me!~Aaron13, you're welcome to participate in TLP, but it's important to pay attention to the rules and general practices. Lurking is a good way to do that, as a suggestion, so you can see it in action.
Your suspension is released.

What about your posts in the Complete Monster thread? Some were thumped for being off-topic, yet you kept posting some meaningless statements.

yes I do
