This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Sorry for getting out of hand in my editing of the FMA pages (I'm pretty sure this is why i was banned, but if there were more reasons I would like to know)... But I only have a question: I am suspended permanently?? I promise this won't happen again- I will be really careful of what I put on YMMV pages. I love this site and editing in it.sad PD: I promise that the Fma 2003 bashing will not repeat itself https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/query.php?parent_id=72796&type=att
That said, I think two of my entries weren't really bashing and were deleted without much thought and didn't even pass to the discussion zone
~RAHDRON: Alright, we got your apology. I want to make sure you understand that our articles are not for venting about things you don't like. There are places you can do that, such as our Reviews section and certain parts of Darth Wiki, as long as you follow the rules of those sections. Understood?
~Emberfist: It seems that there is some pretty strong consensus that those are not examples. A wiki is a cooperative adventure: it doesn't work if one person decides to ignore what other people are saying and plow ahead regardless. Is this clear?
~VyHuynh123: The fact that you continue to plead for removal of your suspension even though we've told you what you need to do on multiple previous occasions means you clearly aren't going to get it. Your appeal is denied.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Non Troper: Fanon does not go on primary work articles, period. Rather, we can describe it in the following places:
- In articles for fan works, as Alternative Character Interpretation and similar tropes.
- In WMG subpages.
- On the forums.
Further, the sort of edits you made smell like you have some sort of agenda, or at least a bug up your ass, and we don't like that. At a minimum, discuss these edits with other people before making them.
~aliastheabnormal: You were suspended because you have been making consistent mistakes in English grammar and ignoring notification messages sent to you about these problems. If you want help with your writing, you may ask for proofreading advice in this forum thread
. You will not be allowed to edit again unless you can demonstrate improvement.
I also see notifications sent to you about Example Indentation in Trope Lists, although I didn't check to see if you've improved in that regard.
Wiki markup is discussed in Text Formatting Rules, a link to which is available on most editing forms.
~Boredomgirl: You have been sent PM notifications about Example Indentation in Trope Lists and Conversation in the Main Page. Our articles are not forums or discussion boards. Do not tack on comments to existing examples. Do not attempt to "justify" or "explain" examples. Please look at those policy pages and let us know what you might have done differently on YMMV.Yu Gi Oh VRAINS.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Brick3621: As it says in What to Do If You Are Suspended, suspensions don't expire. You must come here and discuss them so we can be sure the problem(s) won't recur.
We don't appreciate it when people make mass changes without discussing them first. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you can remove or alter the work of many other people. Laconic subpages may be kind of self-indulgent but they're a tradition around here. If you have concerns about something like this, start a discussion about it in Ask The Tropers or the forums, okay?
~Fangusu: You've talked about the specific issue that got you suspended, but have yet to acknowledge our rules on Edit Wars. You were already told that your appeal is denied because of this. I see no reason to entertain you further. Goodbye.
~Bob Riddle: By "thank you", do you mean that you now understand what the issue is and won't do it again, or that you have acknowledged that your suspension was proper and won't be appealing it? Please be specific.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~Emberfist: Your suspension has been removed. Happy troping!
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"~@Damolisher: There are two issues here. One is the violation of protocol regarding the Complete Monster trope. It's easy to miss that we have special rules for this; now that you know, please participate in the forum thread if you want to suggest a new candidate.
The second is the edit war, which occurs when you make an edit again after someone has changed or removed it. We take these very seriously and require that all disputes about example writing be taken to discussion before anyone makes additional changes to the article. Understood?
I think we're caught up now. If we missed anyone, please reply in this topic.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Fighteer: So Fanon shouldn't be anywhere on any page relating to Yo-kai Watch Shadowside.
Not on its main page, nor on any of the primary subpages, like Characters and YMMV. Work articles are for discussing what is in the work, not what fans think is in the work.
The Fridge and WMG subpages may have entries based on fan interpretations, depending on the circumstances. If there are fanworks based on the work, then those fan works may obviously have tropes describing whatever interpretations they make of the original.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Fanon is literally on the YMMV page on Yo-kai Watch Shadowside.
Then it should be deleted.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It says " Natsume's friend Saki is the daughter of Hailey. They bare a resemblance and Saki was seen in the manga with a keychain of USApyon."
Edited by NonTroper on Feb 22nd 2019 at 11:24:51 AM
Let me clarify. Fanon as a trope seems to have a lot of examples. To me, this is invalid, but the wiki seems to feel otherwise. That said, many works with extensive fanon examples have spun those off into subpages, and I think that's probably a better place for them.
The specific problem with your edits is that you were changing gender pronouns for a character on a work article based on fanon. That is never acceptable.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Daruku from Nanana, however,is confirmed to identify as female. In the light novel the anime is based on, she had a full medical sex change by senior year.
Maybe you should mention that in the Ask The Tropers thread
about this issue, since you seem to be the only one aware of it.
~Fighteer: Understood, thank you. And I'm aware suspensions don't expire; as I said, I was just nervous about appealing.
~Brick3621: Great. This process doesn't have to be onerous, as long as you're polite and pay attention. I'll release your suspension.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yes, understood. I'm gonna move to Dead cells mainly for some time to let it go
...
Might have to take a look to the Darthpedia

Hi,let's divide fiction and reality in tropes for others to see. Put down the sword pickUp the pen.I still don't know the meaning of life~RAHDRON: Great. I've released your suspension.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Well I'm suspended for an edit war with another user over a series of edits over the linking of a specific type of fic from Archive as entries to a variety of tropes. I had removed them January, and that recent attempts to put some of them back in had seen me removing them again. Upon a request from another user, BZL 8, to cease this I did so. The request's timestamp on my end is On 21st Feb '19 3:17:38 PM BZL 8 , while my last edit timestamp is Feb 21st 2019 at 2:26:42 PM.
Further conflict of this nature is something I will be aiming to avoid.
~KrspaceT: You seem to be under a couple of misconceptions. Let me try to help you with them.
First, an edit war does not get called only when someone warns you about it. Any sequence of edits where a troper adds something, it gets deleted or changed, and the same troper adds it back (or the converse with delete-restore-delete) is an edit war. At that point, suspensions may be issued. I see you going back and forth with The Sinful three or four times on some articles.
You should know this because you were suspended in May 2018 for the same issue.
Second, regardless of provocation, using edit reasons to conduct a low-level flame war between yourself and another troper is a violation of our civility rule. In fact, it's our most fundamental principle: "Don't be a dick."
You should know this because you were suspended in May 2018 for the same issue.
I'm seeing a pattern here, and it doesn't make you look particularly good.
As far as the content of your dispute goes, I haven't extensively looked at that, but it seems like you got offended that someone's entering trope examples for fan works that portray characters in ways you don't like. I'm hearing faint echoes from the world's smallest violin.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I am aware of that. That is why I specifically got confirmation with the requester of my actions ceasing that I obliged, and spoke with the mod who responded to the issue, Septimus, about how to vouch the above point while reducing issue from the demonstrating of 'I do get caught up in the heat of the issue, yet if tapped I will snap out of it'.
I am aware that a similar point was not liked the next time, but I feel it does work to what I want to say here. Since that point in May I had hundreds of little to major interaction with other users: I make to edit at least once a day per habit in anything from a spelling clarity to adding a new WMG to Y.J or observation of Pokemon fanon. I interact with plenty of people fine, this is a single, if massive slip of that is not typical. While it also not liked the last time I mentioned it, it is true that I have been on this site for years with only two incidents.
Your good work on the site doesn't get you off the hook for violating our rules. In fact, it makes it more egregious when you break rules that you should unquestionably be aware of. We've stuck to that principle for many years and aren't changing it now. At most it earns you greater benefit of the doubt for incidental violations, but that fades away quickly when we see the exact same mistakes being made.
Since you spoke with ~Septimus Heap, I'm asking him to chime in. Hold tight while we review your case.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"And how am I supposed to improve my writing if i'm banned? No wonder people just dodge site bans since its easier than dealing with an oxymoron and the fact that this place is full of grammar Nazis. I try to fix the mistakes I make I just simply don't know how because there's no place that teaches you to do it. And a timer breathing down your neck. Heil grammar Hitler!

I am would like to edit again and I will not put up the clone wars example since I realized that wasn't exactly an example. The others are, but I will run the Star Wars Rebels example through the forums before adding it back.
