This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.

If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

The Forum Rules apply here.

Don'ts

  • Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
  • Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
  • Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
  • Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
  • Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Crystal clear. I should've done that instead of throwing flak over it. I do know better and I intend to act on my better senses. I understand what you are saying as far as my offense goes and on what qualifies as an edit war.

Hopefully this is sufficient enough...had to look at the image to help me out.

  • Bling-Bling-BANG!!: As it was made in remembrance of the Reef's loss of their queen and her brother, extra care was taken in its forging without compromising on practicality:
    • The hilt is made of a pearlescent material, with a sculpted crow motif on its D-guard.
    • The face of the blade is made of a dark, apparently strong metal with intricate scrollwork carvings cut through it to resemble swirling clouds.
    • There are jewels inserted in the bottom of the guard, and in the crow's eye, but the largest, most prominent one is inserted near the tip of the blade inside the scrollwork.
  • Cool Sword: The Black Talon is a ceremonial sword made to commemorate the death of Mara Sov and her brother Uldren. What really makes it cool is that in spite of its ornate appearance, it is still a very functional and powerful weapon that sees a lot of use in both PVE and PVP because of its ranged power attack.
  • Sword Beam: Its power attack is a heavy slash that fires a wave of Void light with tracking properties. In addition, the waves are capable of hitting targets that are clumped closely together.

Hello! I understand that patience is a virtue and that the people in charge are very busy people, but I first commented on this thread a little less than a week ago and have not received any kind of response. I still don’t fully understand what I did to lose my editing privileges and I promise to change my behavior if I get those privileges back, but I can’t do that if I’m not aware of what I did wrong in the first place. I think it was because I didn’t properly link a few pages in a Video Game sub-section for a trope; is that accurate?

Thank you for your time.

~nombretomado: I have read both of the pages you put in your post to me. I now understand Example Indentation and believe I won't cause more problems to adding them. I also realize I accidentally created a Edit War. I will prevent from doing that again by asking the person who edited it why it changed that way instead of immediately changing it back to the way I liked it before.

The only reason I added those episode numbers to the VRAINS moments pages was because I wanted it to be orderly and easier to follow like other Anime's and tv show pages I saw on the TV tropes pages of the awesome moments from Kamen Rider Fourze to Kamen Rider Gaim. I didn't realize that other's wouldn't like it. I do want to know when it would be good to add episodic troping to a series and how I should do it. I hope you or someone else can help me with that.

Now that I realize my mistakes I will wait for you to answer me to what I must do now and how long I must wait for my suspension to be lifted.

Just a some guy.

~Kurogane7, much, much better. I've released your suspension.

~STARCRUSHER99, apologies. Here is the note on your case:

Fails at linking and indentation after reminders.

So, you are partially correct regarding linking, as that is one of the two items at hand. The correct way to link a page in the namespace is to either use curly brackets if there is no capitalization - i.e. {{Troll}} - or CamelCase - i.e. MsFanservice.

Now, for works, there is an added component where works belong to a Namespace. A video game, like Dead Rising, therefore, is properly linked by including the namespace and the work like so: Namespace/WorkName : VideoGame/DeadRising.

The second matter is Example Indentation in Trope Lists. If there is only one example in a work, then there is just the single line, like so:

  • Dead Rising: This is the only example of the trope in the work.

But, if there are two examples, then it's properly formatted with the trope name in the single bullet line, then each example has a double bullet entry.

Your write-up on MsFanservice.Video Games demonstrates both of these issues.

~hopeshalllive, I genuinely cannot tell if you are extremely tired, trolling, or just don't want to have a candidate downvoted, but that's 8 names. Whatever the cause is, your blatant insistence from that post on is eyebrow-raising.

~Naijal, I'm glad to hear that you understand. One point I'd like to further address is not it's not about other tropers' personal opinions, but rather what is in adherence to the rules, primarily, and then, what the rules are unclear, the consensus of the community. When it comes to a complete re-writing of a page, in a manner that is not explicitly in line with rules, it's much, much better to gather second opinions on the matter. Ask the Tropers is here for that reason, as are the discussion pages.

[up] That was a miscalculation that I got wrong by mistake. I went through the count multiple times, and I thought it was 9 votes. I was not trying to prevent a candidate from being downvoted. I double checked to be certain, after another count. And I realized I made a mistake, and I apologized for it. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=6vic3f9h1cy5qivsenw8llok&page=5622#comment-140545 Can you please lift the ban?

~nombretomado Thanks for replying to my post. I will try the Ask The Tropers page if my suspension ends one day. I do however want to know how long my suspension will take and how long I will need to wait or if I need to take a test since I saw other suspended tropers take tests to see if they learned their lesson in editing problems. Sorry if I sound impatient or rude about this. This is the first time I have such a conversation on TV Tropes.

~hopeshalllive: OK. So how about bringing up random candidates to cut/re-evaluate, citing standards that don't exist (see Complete Monster) and subsequently changing your reasoning on why the candidate doesn't count, perceiving critiques of EP's and arguments as personal attacks, and just in general bogging down on the topic whenever you get stuck on a particular bugbear.

~Naijal, there is no set timeframe on most suspensions, especially if it's just a question of understanding the rules. I just wanted to clarify that point. Are we clear on all the items covered?

Well, my concerns about those candidates were whether or not they fit the standards that I brought up, such as the heinous standard, or exceptionalism. Also, the other users, when they made their arguments, they seemed to come across to me as personal attacks, and it is not helped by the fact that every time I propose a candidate or ask whether or not someone fits a certain standard, I get treated as the bad guy. My question about Metz, for example was first of all, did he have a personality and defined motives, given how little he appeared, and that was answered by G editor who laid out the explanation in a way that did not come across to me as an attack. Similarly, when I asked how he stood out compared to the Paris guy, G editor gave an explanation hat satisfied my concern. Some of the other users such as Lightysnake, did not exactly sound very fair when I asked questions. People are allowed to bring up multiple issues with CM's. But the other users who questioned it sounded to me like the issue they had was with me personally. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=6vic3f9h1cy5qivsenw8llok&page=5621#comment-140507

I am not always the best articulator, but I get tired of the thread bogging down just as much as everyone else, and I don't want it to get bogged down.

As for Ivan Drago, I wanted to know about him because I recalled that he was once a CM, and having learned that he had a son, I wanted to see if he had been removed because he no longer fit the criteria. In the matter of Michael Myers, Myers in the original film only killed five people, and the heinous standard for the horror genre is quite high, and I did wonder if he counted.

I am not trying to pick fights, or drag out the thread. I obey the rules of the thread, and I move on to a different topic. Things just turn out differently.

[up] Also in the matter of Metz, the people who attempted to answer my concerns just reiterated the same point over and over again. My concerns were not his actions, it was whether or not Metz was exceptional, and had a defined motive. As for the Shere Khan edit count, in cases where CM debates can for a long period of time, it is not uncommon for someone to make a tally of how many votes there are for and against a potential CM candidate. In the matter of Shredder, I had watched that film once and I believed he did fit the CM requirements.

If you don't want the thread to get bogged down, why do you fight back so much when the consensus is against your desired outcome?

The primary theme we're getting here is that you don't take well to disagreements. You say that people are personally attacking you. From a perusal of your posts (of which, by the way, were all within the last 6 months), people are more often than not trying to get you back and the thread back on track from your interjections, and there's been marginally less patience the longer you have been active in-thread, and therefore the longer your pattern of behavior has been onging.

There is validity to re-evaluating Complete Monster examples. In fact, they are clearly laid out in Complete Monster:

Please do not bring up characters that have already been discussed. It wastes our time. Any discussion that has been concluded is permanently shelved unless:

A new work in the same continuity is released featuring said character (alternate continuities don't count as they are treated as separate characters. This also means that if the discussion on Character from Universe A is closed, it doesn't apply to the same character in universe B, C or D). The person bringing up the discussion again proves that there was evidence that was not brought up in the discussion before. If people don't use the Search Function to see if it was brought up they get a warning to start with, repeated offenses result in suspension.

Perhaps there can be some forgiveness for the search function borking; it happens. Less forgiveable is this combined with your obstreperous participation patterns.

Regardless, this is your third suspension. It's the second one regarding Complete Monster. I think that you are done with this topic, and the best you can hope for is a limited suspension from Projects: Long-Term/Perpetual.

I'm sorry about the whole mess. I don't see myself fighting back against the consensus when it is against a desired outcome. And I only asked about Drago and Michael Myers once. I genuinely believed that the candidates that I brought up for re-evaluation and potentially elevation to CM status either failed one of the criteria, or that they fit the criteria. The trouble usually started when someone made a post that I perceive as being against me. The way someone writes a post is going to go a long way to how I interpret it. https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=6vic3f9h1cy5qivsenw8llok&page=5622#comment-140546

This post is a very strong example of this. The user claimed I had an obsession with getting some version of Shere Khan as a monster. Nothing could be further from the truth, and I took that as an enormous insult and something that was outright hostile, given that I did indeed leave for Real Life, and I will not discuss that here. I do apologize for my actions, though I do not recall being banned before for anything related to the CM thread, but I would ask that the other users not dismiss concerns I have about CM's as being just about me, when I did believe that the candidates that I brought up had something valid.

You say that you apologize for your actions, but your conclusion ("the trouble usually started when someone made a post that I perceive as being against me.") seems to be that all of the concerns raised above are because someone else is personally out to get you. Do I have that right? What of "your actions" do you feel should be apologized for, if everything is because of bias against you?

Your first ban regarding Complete Monster was wiki-side: edit-warring a Complete Monster entry.

hopeshalllive Since: Jan, 2016

I said I am sorry if my actions, especially in situations where the outcome was not what I wanted, seemed to drag out the thread and were against the final decision. Arguing against the outcome, even if perceived, was not what I intended. I do concede that I some of my actions would appear to be petty to some. I will also acknowledge that some of my posts, even if I brought up legitimate arguments, did give off the perception of a dislike of criticism. But I did believe that some of the candidates I brought up did have issues.

nombretomado (Season 1) Relationship Status: [TOP SECRET]
#17944: Dec 19th 2018 at 7:35:35 PM

That's a lot of hedging on personal responsibility - "seemed to", "would appear to be", "give off the perception" - which is part of the reason why you are here. You have a pattern of throwing things in that spin things off-track, then standing offside as though you had no idea how it could possibly have ended up that way. It is not going to fly.

You are banned from Projects: Long-Term/Perpetual, for not understanding how your actions are responsible for thread bloat and entirely preventable arguments.

Your editing/query privileges were also initially suspended, to make sure you came here. If you would like to have them restored, I would recommend accepting without further argument that you will not be able to participate in the Complete Monster thread moving forward.
