This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Can I have my editting priviledges back? There's so much I wanted to add. For example, I wanted to add Cloud's "But I'm right here" line from the Aerith date to the Funny section of the FFVII articlr. (Aerith, in the scene, is saying she is searching for Cloud and wants to meet him, and means this figuratively, but Cloud takes it a bit literally).
@Matthewtheman: You need to pay a visit to this thread and brush up on your language skills. I'm not sure that you know how to write properly for the wiki. Do that and we can consider a removal of your editing restrictions.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Okay,I see your point.
Excuse me, I'm not exactly sure this is the correct place for it, but do you mind lifting my suspension from the YKTTW area? if not, is it possible for someone to create a Rise Of The Reds page?
EDIT: nevermind, realised it's just a page expansion.

I think the "This Troper" case I committed was months if not years ago. Not sure when it was caught though. I've definitely learned not to do that. The bullet points thing I will keep in check, though that sounds like it goes hand-in-hand with Natter which I'm more conscious of now.
Thinking back, the conversations in examples was the main mistake I was making. And I should have done something to cut back on it before now.
Okay, we talked about it and I'm fairly sure the message got through. Could we get our editing privileges back, please ?

I would like to edit again, for i feel a urge to remove more first person speaking i found. Could a moderater tell me what i did to become suspended? I am not certain myself, for the last time i edited was adding a "*" and i am pretty sure it wasn´t it.Or was it? I might have been jerk somewhere when adding a editing reason?
I like the site, and if i get to know what i did wrong i will try to avoid repeating it again. But will it be elaborated upon in a PM, or do i have to relocate this thread again?

@sagevallant: Privileges restored. Please be careful in the future.
@Alarielle: You, singular, are now restored. I'm not sure who "we" is in this context.
@Scaresteam:
You were changing correct Example Indentation into incorrect indentation.
The following is incorrect:
- Trope: Example
- Another example
The following is correct:
- Trope:
- Example
- Example
Also, do us a favor and use proper capitalization and grammar in your forum posts. It makes us very reluctant to restore your editing privileges when we see that kind of post as an sample of your writing abilities.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I have read through the Example Indentation page that you linked, and now I have seen what I did wrong. Thanks for the information.
As for the grammar, I am sorry. I did not review the content of my comment before posting it. I was entirely focused on finding out what I had done to get suspended, that I did not take a second look at my writing.
Okay, privileges restored.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"so this is the place to get editing priviledges back right? of course thats what im asking for its just i had only just started troping and wondering what i did wrong. whatever i did i can try to fix it in the future, you know, grammar, language, anything i'll go over the rules again if you want, i mean all i was doing was adding some CMOF's to the tobuscus page-anyway so could i have may editing priviledges back please
i used to be an adventurer like u...then i killed the batmanYour writing is very difficult to understand, bordering on the incomprehensible, with excessive use of caps, run on sentences, and other things. I don't think you have a sufficient grasp of English to be a useful contributor. If you want to try, go here and run your proposed edits by some other tropers for proofreading.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hi, may I please edit again? I'm not exactly sure what happened...:/
You and your sock ibram were banned for this edit on YMMV.All Dogs Go To Heaven:
So, what exactly is that about? We aren't here to deliver Take Thats to dead people. Also I hear that Judith Barsi was a girl murdered by her own father. Are we into some kind of sick-ass humor here?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hi all!
I note that my editing privileges were suspended, and yeah, justifiably so. Sorry, I hadn't been on T Vtropes in a long time, and got a little too ambitious. I launched too many of my standing YKTTW articles at one time and ended up leaving some of them half-complete when real work and parenting called me away. In my defense, I was planning to come back to them and was not trying to make work for other tropers. I just didn't realize how fast things move on this site.
My bad. I won't do it again, promise. Can I please have my edit-powers back? Pretty please?
edited 29th Aug '12 10:52:47 AM by mtlwriterguy
How about you stay away from YKTTW for a while and stick to editing existing articles, at least until you understand the culture a bit better? And I'm not sure why not being on for a long time would have given you the impression that you could launch stuff willy-nilly like that anyway. We don't move that quickly around here — quite the opposite, really.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Deal. I don't have anything new in mind anyhow.
And just to clarify, all the YKTTW's I launched had been sitting untouched in the forum since late 2011 and had at least five hats. I didn't understand that it was bad form to launch them all at once. So even though I'm a relatively old troper, I guess I haven't learned all the tricks yet. Gotta brush up on the FAQ's and how-to's.
Thanks!
It's not a matter of launching them all at once. It's a matter of launching them with awful botched formatting and very few examples. Two examples are not enough to launch a YKTTW, and there is no excuse for killing the formatting so carelessly.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerUmm...edit ban and would like to edit again?
-ahem- Okay. What did I mess up on?
Mainly it seems that you display poor grammar, along with a tendency for Natter and improper Example Indentation.
For example, this little gem from Persona 3:
This is gibberish. I mean, I can sort of figure out what you're trying to say, but it's your job to write properly, not our job to fix your writing. It's also the other two things I mentioned above: natter and improper indentation.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Alright. Working on grammar and keeping the natter away. I see.
We're willing to work with you, of course. We have a thread for assistance with writing examples here. If you run some of your proposed edits through this and demonstrate awareness of the corrections people give you, then we'll consider restoring your editing privileges.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Alright.
So... when will my suspension be lifted? I know where I messed up, and I know I was wrong. I should have taken it to a discussion page and explained my reasons. I'm sorry, it won't happen again.
@Alarielle: While it is true that we do not apply standards of notability to which works we can have articles for, we do request that articles be kept free of complaining. The facts of a work should stand on their own without excessive embellishment.
The thing about troll fics is that, like all trolls, they crave attention. Writing up articles to bash on them is feeding this craving and only encourages them to greater efforts. The most effective thing you can do to a troll of any sort is to ignore them.
Lastly, we get very suspicious of anyone coming to this wiki with an apparent agenda, whether it be to bash on a particular work(s) or author(s), to insert their social/political/religious opinions into our articles, etc. The wiki only works when everyone collaborates to produce articles that have value to their readers.
If this is acceptable and understood, we can remove your restrictions.
