This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Indeed, ~Fast Furious Fan, it has to do with you readding that entry after it was discussed in Ask The Tropers. As for the example itself, not only were you not focusing on how it's an example of Never Live It Down, it looks more like a long-winded complaining rant.
Now, how can this be made into a legitimate example of the trope?
- The Mushroom Kingdom when Bowser became a greater threat than before in Super Mario Galaxy. It's bad enough that they still considered him a threat even without realizing he was more of a nuisance than a threat since Paper Mario, but this made it clear that they have to do something to prevent him from being a threat despite the necessity of a game. Worse still, in Super Mario Galaxy 2, they have no idea Bowser craves Stars for his plots and have a Star Festival AGAIN! Then Bowser shows up "HUUUUUUUUUGGGGE!!", and even GREATER threat. Despite how good the game is, this is TOO MUCH! And it cemented the Mushroom Kingdom's status as a bunch of lazy dipshits who wouldn't even try to prevent that kind of menace from happening. Preventing Bowser from being a threat is a necessity now, not because it's easy (it's not), but it's a matter of life and death and a necessity for survival. And if a threat the level of Bowser in the Galaxy games can be prevented, especially due to other recent less-than-stellar evil plans.
Well, I gotta admit, when I re-posted it, I had no idea it was brought to "Ask the Tropers" or really anything about "Ask the Tropers." Either way, I will not re-post that again. It's all understood that's not a legitimate example of Never Live It Down. And I'll remember about "Ask the Tropers" and be careful not to do something that's ranting or complaining and risking being sent to "Ask the Tropers." Can I get back to editing again?
If it's not a legitimate example, yes, keep it off.
Be sure to use the discussion page next time. You're good to go, but please try not to get suspended again, as this is your second.
Hello. I have recently got suspended for what I have said in the Avengers Assemble thread in Western Animation.
The context of my comment features me using the word "cunt" to describe a character much in the same way the people at OSW Review would described Hulk Hogan.
Though I feel that I was in my right to use the word in the context of describing a fictional character, it has been classified as rude by the modderators. I don't know if there is a rule against using certain words or its just an oversensitive outrage, but I know that the intention of my comment wasn't meant to be rude to anybody who read it. If there is a rule for using certain words, I promise not to repeat the same mistake twice.
I hope this clears some things up.
~Big K 1337, there's a few things of concern going on here:
- Gendered slurs do not fly here.
- We don't care about the permissiveness of other sites. Our standards are our standards.
- Calling an enforcement as "oversensitive outrage" is an interesting verbiage choice when combined with your promise to follow the rules. If you are unwilling to see the rules set as worth following, then we have no reason to believe you will adhere to them.
- You were suspended as a combination of that particular slur, as well as your two recent thumps in Forum Games featuring sexually explicit material. Overall, it seems you have an issue with being inappropriate.

Okay, I didn't really found what I said to be a gendered slur. Excessive I can understand, but a slur of any kind not really. I assumed the words I used are no different from using other profanities like "dick", "asshole", "bastard", and "jerkass".
As for the two other forums, I can understand why I am suspended for those two forum post as admitedly those are a bit inappropriate considering the context in those post. Though I question why now I am being reprimanded for those comments now vs. three weeks ago where I actually made those comments?
Hello there,
I appear to have received a suspension of my editing privileges. However, I honestly have no idea what the reason for this might be. I've looked at the common reasons for suspension on the relevant page, and I'm wracking my brains but I honestly have no idea how any of them might apply to any of the recent edits I've made, many of which have been been minor edits to previous edits I've made, entries which seem entirely relevant, responses on Headscratchers pages which — to my mind at least — seem perfectly civil and appropriate, and so on. After a quick review of my most recent edits, none of them appear to have required editing or removing. Admittedly, I have received a few P Ms in the past over things like Example Indentation, but so far as I'm aware I've not made any errors of that nature of late.
So it's come as a bit of a surprise to discover that, without any warning whatsoever, it's apparently been deemed necessary to suspend my editing privileges, and I'd appreciate an explanation as to why this might be. Obviously if I've crossed a line that shouldn't be crossed I'll make every effort not to cross it again in future, and if I'd hate to think I've been "causing tropers work" unnecessarily, but none of my recent edits appear to suggest this, so I'm honestly confused as to what the problem is here.
~Doctor Nemesis: So what exactly were you doing with the Character Derailment example on YMMV.The Ben Chatham Adventures?
"Yup. That tasted purple."Thank you for the quick response.
To be honest, when I made that edit I was under the (obviously mistaken) impression that "Character Derailment" was merely YMMV and didn't realise that it was "keep-off-even-the-YMMV-page"; I can assure you, it was an honest mistake and not an attempt to stir up trouble. Now that I'm aware, I assure you that I'll avoid repeating the same mistake in future.

Please explain why I was suspended. I assume this is something to do with the Harry Potter pages I was filling out.
Care to explain why you made all those recap pages for individual chapters of each Harry Potter book? They are overly excessive and unnecessary.
Thank you for replying quickly.
At least one other person started it off, creating some of the Recap pages and a list that linked to them. I saw what looked like a load of working that needed doing and began creating the rest. I had no reason to assume that the website had any problem with those pages being created.
Well, we do. That is grotesquely unnecessary. One recap per book is fine. One per chapter? Hell no.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Sorry for a misunderstanding on my part.
Edit: I'd like to get back to editing. I will quit working on the recaps. Shame to lose the work, but rules are rules. If you look at the remainder of my contributions you'll see I've been a good contributor to other articles.

I've released your suspension. Ask The Tropers is in the process of cleaning up all that mess.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I messaged one of the mods regarding the length of my suspension from posting in forums, and the person told me they are reviewing my case.
I really want to know a set and reasonable date for how long I am not allow to post as I do not like to have an abstract (not sure if I am using the word right) time where the suspension could end right now or could end next month; which I hope isn't the latter as that seems excessive regarding the case.
~PMiller1: If you've been suspended for grammar issues, that remains in effect until you show sufficient improvement in the Get Help with English thread. Since you haven't posted in there between your previous post in this thread and now, and your apparent lack of improvement in that thread was noted here
, the suspension will stand.

~Big K 1337: Please note that we discuss all matters related to suspensions here, not via PMs. That said, per our standing policy, suspensions do not have a fixed duration, but last until we're satisfied that the issue(s) in question will not recur.
For your part, you have yet to display acceptable understanding of what the problem is. Your personal social paradigm may have room for casual use of gendered slurs like "bitch", "cunt", and "whore", but when you go out into other communities, you need to respect their social rules. Those words act to create an environment of hostility towards women that belittles them and excludes them from conversation. We will not tolerate their casual use, just as we will not tolerate homophobic or racial slurs.
If anything about the above paragraph is unclear, let us know now. If we release your suspension and you do it again, you won't get another chance to appeal.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Very well. I'll release your suspension. Keep it cool.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I see, So you want me to prove myself that I can improve? Look at some of my edit history. You'd see that I've did fixing to some grimmer myself, not just my own. In fact, I'd want to edit so I can fix and improved my own grammar and improved other.
I've got myself an Oxford English Spellchecker and a NaturalReader12 to read out my own typing and to read some of webpage itself.
And if any of them don't show that Improving, just tell me.
Had I've fix some of my grammatical errors? Sir!

Your post just there is absolutely riddled with grammatical errors. Sorry, no dice.

Is my latest suspension because of my thing about Super Mario Galaxy 2, and the Edit War I might've caused? Well, I promise won't post that again. Ever. Can I get my suspension lifted again? Or is there something else we need to resolve?
