This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

As it stands the standard of grammar you're displaying is still not sufficient for us to allow you to edit just yet.
"Yup. That tasted purple."I'm suspended. Maybe it has something to do with the word-filter I set up on my Firefox to make stupid internet conversations funnier? Weird, arbitrary word replacements on my part, perchance? Or is it something altogether different? (I'll do something about FoxReplace, make it leave alone TV Tropes anyways — if it hasn't yet been a problem, it could well be later.)

May I PLEASE have my privileges back? I can't help but feel I'm being punished for something that could have been avoided if somebody had just written to me and told me what I was doing was wrong.
~Cruherrx: Here's our dilemma, and why we haven't made a decision in your case. We have little faith that, upon having your suspension released, you won't go back into the same topics and cause trouble again. Sooner or later, you'll get into another fight over Yu-Gi-Oh (or some other franchise), and we'll be called in to mediate. I think that one of the people in that topic said it best
:
- Stop stating your opinion as fact.
- Stop going off on tangents about how much you hate the card game in the thread meant for discussing the anime/manga.
- Stop acting like you're some kind of ultimate authority on Yugioh canon who's indisputably right about even the smallest detail.
- Stop having such a snide attitude about everything. We're trying to discuss Yugioh here, and you're not making it very fun for us.
So, if you could promise to stop making threads unpleasant places to be for other people, we can consider giving you chance number three.
~Elric Keyblade: Regardless of whether you worked it out later, the fact is that you were edit warring, which is prima facie grounds for suspension. The working-it-out needs to happen first, and the editing afterwards.
~Fruitstripegum: Stop panicking. We aren't always highly active on the weekends. If you read our suspension policy, you'd know that the purpose is first to stop the problematic behavior and second to correct it.
The first problem is your violation of the rule about linking to fanworks on original work articles. The second is that you edit warred over it, a serious breach of wiki etiquette. We'd like to know that it won't happen again, and this attitude isn't very helpful.
~Killer Clowns: We are really sick of these text substitution plugins because they corrupt articles when you edit them. If you won't remove them entirely, you must make them not operate on tvtropes.org. Is that clear?

The first problem is your violation of the rule about linking fanworks on primary work articles. The second is that you edit warred over it, a serious breach of wiki etiquette. We'd like to know that it won't happen again, and this attitude isn't very helpful.
Well, I'm very sorry, but I don't see how I can prove that it won't happen again. And I can't help panicking, because all I want to know is how long I'm going to be punished for and nobody will tell me.

Absolutely understood. Plugin's deactivated. Once I get the word I've been un-suspended, I'll do a few test runs in the Sandbox to make sure everything's running proper.

I don't know which rule I have broken to warrant being suspended. May someone please clarify the mistake I made so I might avoid making it in the future?
~Fruitstripegum: Not edit warring seems fairly easy. Am I missing something?
~Killer Clowns: Very good. I'll release your suspension.
~Timjames98: You have a number of issues. Among them: constructing wicks improperly (see Wiki Word for advice), edit warring (on Characters.A Song Of Ice And Fire House Baratheon Of Kings Landing) and removing Zero-Context Example comments on Characters.Divergent without expanding the examples.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Oh.
I guess I didn't realize I was causing harm. My mistake, I'm sorry.
I promise I won't do those things anymore.
I'm sorry but, why was i suspended from editing? It's because i left four blank pages? If that the case i apologize and i will try to fix that (as soon as i get my computer back).
Uni catYes, we take page blanking very seriously. Particularly when no edit reason is given.
Also from the looks of things there are some issues with your grammar that will need to be addressed.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Not edit warring seems fairly easy. Am I missing something?
- Sigh*...I guess you're not missing much. It's just...HOW can I prove that I won't do it again unless I have my editing privileges back?
I did state a reason, but in a forum. So i guess i have to do that more often.
I will try to fix it now...if i'm allowed to edit that's it. (and regarding the grammar, yeah, i'm not a native english speaker so i tend to make mistakes)
Uni catI appear to have been suspended since my last edit in September. I apologize in advance for my transgression but I don't even remember what I put so I'd like to know what it was so I don't do that again.
~Timjames98: That's nice, but would you please explain your understanding of "those things" so I can be sure you know what it is you are not supposed to be doing?
~Fasoman1996: You seem pretty into the Pantheons project. That's nice, but even in a Just for Fun section of the site we require acceptable English. If you can't improve, you will lose editing rights permanently sooner or later. And you still haven't explained the blanking to our satisfaction. If an article needs to be deleted, use the Cut List.
~Fruitstripegum: I'll restore your editing rights, but I really don't want to have to have this conversation again, okay?
~Flamedarkfire: Like so many other people, you have been using text replacement plugins in your browser. These corrupt the text of articles that you edit. You must either remove them from your browser or add tvtropes.org as an exception.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
Fair enough. I blanked the pages because i moved those deities to other houses since that house was unecesarily big and their tropes didn't quite fitted that house. I will do my best to improve the grammar and deal with the pages more carefully.
~Fasoman1996: I will release your suspension. Please work on the grammar.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Fair enough.
I promise that I next time I create a new wiki page I will do so completely instead of leaving it half-finished and hoping for someone else to complete it.
I promise that if I get into a dispute with another contributor, I will immediately go to the discussion section instead of edit warring.
I promise I will only remove zero-context comments if I actually intend to add context.
Alright, then. Welcome back.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Heys, it's me again.
I took a few days off from asking due to the fact that I figured with the horrible tragedies in Paris, this was a bad time all around. Also, if anyone on the staff has friends or family affected by this incident, I'd like to offer my sincerest condolences and offer a prayer of peace and strength.
I really would like to though, now that I've had some time to clear my head and make sure famiy and friends are ok (thank god), ask that I get a chance to edit again.
I've read the FAQ with a lot of intent, I know the definition of natter/nanner and I'd really like to get the chance to show that I can mature.
If that is alright with you guys, I'd like my privileges back. There's already a couple things on my mind I'd like to point out on certain topics.
Would that be ok with you all?

I apologize for my behavior in terms of Edit Warring. I certainly will do my best to avoid this sort of behavior in the future.
Just one question for future reference: if I make an edit and someone restores it back to exactly the way it was beforehand (which has happened before all this), would the proper behavior be to open a discussion instead of restoring it?
Thank you for your time.

I do everything possible to improve the grammar, but that much I can do. Is not easy.
