This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

~Cyberguy64: You also were involved in the edit war on YMMV.Gravity Falls over a Creator's Pet example. Subjective Tropes aren't "anything goes"; they all have specific criteria for qualification.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"That's what I was referring to, yeah.
I just figured everyone should have the right to have their point of view seen on the page that's designed for showcasing the varied perspectives on the show. I'd hope that I'd restore a deleted perspective even if I didn't agree with it, though I am only human...
At any rate, I'm sorry if I overstepped a line and too far. Can I have... I dunno. A description of what I did in particular that went overboard? That was the first edit I made to the page in years, according to the history, and I thought I explained my reasoning for restoring the post fairly well.
Click for more crappy pixel artIt's very simple. Creator's Pet has specific criteria, and the character, Mabel, does not meet them. Therefore it is inaccurate to write "some consider her this" as a way to back into getting the trope listed. I'm sure you can find "some people" who think just about anything, but that's not useful in documenting tropes.
You are incorrect in your view of the purpose of YMMV subpages. They exist to segregate subjective tropes and audience reactions from the objective tropes in the main article, but each example must still meet the criteria of the trope that it references.
We are interested in documenting broad fandom opinions, not everyone's personal point of view. Doing the latter invites madness. You may use some of the Sugar Wiki and Darth Wiki subpages to express your individual thoughts, as well as the Reviews section.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hmmm... K. Makes sense. I think the Creator's Pet requirements seem a little too strict. Or at the very least, redundant, considering it's basically a bunch of tropes mashed together this way. But whatever. I didn't write it. My bad. I'm sorry.
I wasn't trying to represent everyone's individual point of view. I've seen that exact perspective stated by multiple people elsewhere, so I figured it was a legit point and didn't need wiping. I didn't mean that YMMV needs everyone's opinion in it, but that dissenting opinions shouldn't be silenced by the other side, especially where broken bases are concerned. I can see how it came out wrong though, and I'm sorry.
So... can I have my editing back?

Click for more crappy pixel artI'm guessing I'm in trouble for the "adding I/this troper" stuff.
I'm not doing that intentionally to be a dope, I'm just confused a bit on it.
I really do like editing and I like contributing.
Can I please have my editing privileges back? I'm really trying to figure out how the nanners part works and how to decrease my doing it.
I know, I'm not a perfect troper, but I really am trying to do things right.
If there's another reason my editing rights were suspended, please tell me and I'll work on them. I really don't want my mark on TV Tropes to be shunned. :(

~Meowth: I'm sorry, but waiting until after your suspension to begin asking questions about how to edit, especially given that this is your second time here and you got a ton of notifiers, doesn't give us a good impression.
I don't think you'll gain any value from us explaining how to edit a wiki yet again.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Please tell me I'm not permanently banned :(
I'm reading the FAQ you sent me right now.
I really want to make things right, Fighteer.
Well, I'm TRYING to read the post, but it keeps sending me back here.
What link am I supposed to click on? I'm not trying to be pissy, I'm just confused!
Fighteer? ;_; I'm just confused is all. I'm really trying to make things right and find this FAQ, but maybe I'm just not getting it.
I really don't want to be perma-banned, please tell me what I can do to make things right?
Wow.
I'm finally in the forum rules thing of what to and NOT to do and I'm seeing a LOT of things.
Ok.... I'll stop the Nanner stuff completely. I'll message you before any post that I'm not 100% sure is not Nanner or revelant.
I really WOULD like to have my editing rights back if that's ok. I know this is my second time here (the first being 7 months ago) and I know that does not make me look exactly capable. But I give my word I'm trying to be a decent and just troper and editor.
Please allow me the chance to show I can do just that. Please?

HI guys, I am here to discuss about my suspension. Did I do something wrong? Whatever I've done wrong, it won't happen again. Are there's any rules I need to follow so I won't have this problem again. I really do like this website, and I'll do whatever it takes not to break any rules to make editing fun for other members.
First of all, both of you calm down. We aren't on five-minute call to reply in this topic.
~Meowth: Based on the quality of your posts, I have no confidence that you can understand the rules well enough to work with them. Your constant misspelling of Natter doesn't help things. That said, there is a way you can demonstrate proficiency: post in this forum topic
with edits you'd like to make, including the destination article and complete markup. We'll see if you've learned.
~Kjones91: As seen on Characters.Once Upon A Time Main Characters, you have a massive problem with Zero-Context Examples. All trope examples must contain sufficient descriptive text to explain how the trope is used in the work.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Grammar problems like the ones evident in that post.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Okay, since nobody's replied to me
, and when I ask about the rules I get no answer, I decided to look them up
.
Complaining
can't be the reason for my ban. Every single point made was clearly explained.
The only thing there worth a ban would be off-topic discussion since the card game made by Konami has nothing to do with the animated movie Kazuki Takahashi was writing. And according to that rules page, you guys don't even ban for off-topic discussion. I was even the one practically pleading for the discussion to get back to the movie.
Come on, dudes and dudettes. This has gone on for 3 months (which is mostly my fault since I check in really infrequently, and I apologize for that).
There's also this thread.
I did get a large number of thumps, but those happened in such quick succession that it'd be impossible to correct my actions or explain myself/my stance, which I don't think is fair. I also don't think it's fair that when users attack me, you guys disregard it as "light jabbing" but when I don't insult anyone in any way, it's apparently highly insulting. I really don't see how any of the other ban reasons there apply to me as well.
Thank you for your time. You're probably more tired of this than me.
"If you weren't so crazy I'd think you were insane."Hi, I was suspended and have come to this forum to request a removal of that suspension. I believe that my reason for being suspended (though I could be wrong) was because I was persistent in a certain edit within the Dragon Ball Super/Crowning Moment of Awesome forum. My reasonings behind that edit can probably be viewed on the History of the Edit page, but I suppose I should explain myself here.
In a certain post there, a troper had listed the reasoning behind a Crowning Moment of Awesome was because the character Chi-Chi was 'borderline-abusive'. I believed that that comment belonged more on the YMMV section of the DBS trope page rather than the Crowning Moment of Awesome page, so I deleted it. Another troper reinstalled it, saying that I can only delete comments that are factually incorrect.
I deleted the comment again and tried to explain myself- that the comment was indeed factually incorrect and was clearly more opinion than fact. I believed that in a show that has historically been gag comedy and has used the 'Violence as Comedy' trope with far more characters than just Chi-Chi, singling her out as an 'abusive spouse' was more opinionated than factual. The troper had suggested that I change the comment to something less negative, but the problem was that the OP had listed her being an 'abusive spouse' as the MAIN reason for this 'Crowning Moment of Awesome,' so I did not know any alternative to deleting it and explaining my reasoning. In the end yet another troper managed to arrange the comment in a less biased way, and I sent said troper a thank you message.
Thank you for your time.
I got Edit Banned, and I don't know why. May I have my privileges back, please? Or at least an explanation as to what I did wrong?

Hello, My edit has been banned. Please let me edit again, i will do my best to fix my grammar next time and I will make sure to go to forums before i post a new trope
Romeo Xjuliet : The state of that post does not give us much hope in that regard.
"Yup. That tasted purple."
What about me? What did I do wrong?
When will I get my privileges back?
You were edit warring to insert links to a fanwork on the main Characters.Pokemon index.
"Yup. That tasted purple."So why didn't anyone write to me and tell me that? If someone had just explained that what I was doing was wrong, I wouldn't have done it again.
When will I get my privileges back? Will I ever get them back?

Lifted that suspension, Keegster.
