This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I put "non-evil example". So what should I have put? Number Two to Elsa? And look I'm sorry but its my first mistake in literally months. It's not as if I mess up all the time or something. I haven't made a mistake since the last time.
And to be fair I only remember being warned once about the fact that Elsa wasn't a villain but not about Marshmallow being her The Dragon :/
The Dragon is an evil trope. There is no such thing as a "non-evil Dragon". It doesn't matter. You cannot seem to stop poking the beast. We'll remove that problem for you.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"As I said earlier, this my first mistake in months. Haven't made not one since the last time. I could honestly see if I constantly mess up, but one slip back?
Now that I have read The Dragon, I completely see where I was wrong. I apologize. I knew it was generally for villains but I thought it could also just mean second in command.
You have had all your chances, Tyson. We shall not budge on this.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickHi, can someone please tell me why I've been suspended? I can't remember doing anything that would result in such a thing happening. If I have, then I apologise.
You are running an autoreplace script that changes "force" to "horse".
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOh, sorry, I didn't think that actually affected the stuff I added to the site. I disabled it.
Yeah, it affects the edit box as much as any other part of a page.
Suspension lifted.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Not sure what specifically I did wrong; I did quite a bunch of editing the other day, and I'd like to know what in particular was so egregious that it triggered a suspension.
Your file also has notes about Natter and This Troper problems.
"Yup. That tasted purple."I'm not sure what I did wrong regarding indentation, but ... fair enough, I guess. Nice knowing you.
In For Science!:
- In the book, InGen's motivation is more clearly Money, Dear Boy (Hammond is really hoping to develop pet dinosaurs; the park is mainly intended to be a showcase for what they're capable of and secure further funding), though it's unquestionable that they at least allowed and more likely actively encouraged their employees to think this way.
This is Natter — a comment, explanation, or justification of an example added as a sub-bullet beneath it. These are not allowed.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Has there been any progress on finding out how long I'm banned for?
Bans are not a time limit thing. You are unbanned when it has been proven that you can in fact behave properly.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickI have. In every other forum topic/discussion except for the one I was banned for, for... I want to say, a couple of years? For however long I've been an active forum member.
Besides which, I can read the rules just fine, and I resent the unspoken implication that I can't. I figured that "how long am I banned for" is the polite, tactful way of asking "how long will it take you guys to figure out you banned me for a one-off - why else would I keep harping on doing a user post search". But if I ask that, then you guys ignore me and my case for another week, so I'm forced to say something more oblique and blandly non-confrontational, instead of putting the onus on you guys to look into it.
This isn't about my behavior or personality - there wouldn't be a functioning forum if we had to police those - it's about my actions in a specific discussion; how that behavior presents itself, which is the part we actually have some control over and I foolishly did not once.
"What you did wrong in that thread was to pick an argument and not letting it go when people asked you to stop." This is different from something like "You were wrong to pick an argument that thread and not let it go when people asked you to stop" - and either way, it recognizes that I'm being punished for actions in a single thread. (It also ignores that no one seemed able to ask me to stop without a direct insult or threat - and since I was apparently only banned for maintaining an argument, I think it backs me up when I say that I don't recall stooping to that level. I responded to three people in my last post in that thread, and was amiable to the only person - the second - who wasn't trying to win the First Annual Relationship Pissing Contest.) My actions in every other thread should, again, be proof enough that I can behave myself, as separate from whether or not I'm a decent human being, to which I will very quickly agree that I am most definitely not.
The proof already exists, and at this point it's far easier for you guys to find it than me as I don't have forum access at all. I find it tremendously frustrating to learn that I've been banned for eleven days because the mods are satisfied with proof of bad conduct, but won't look for proof of good conduct even when I've explained where it can be found. (Nor can I ask some other non-mod user to back me up on this to you, because that probably runs afoul of a couple of other rules.)
Or here, let me back into the Worldbuilding forum; I'll do the legwork and find you fifty threads where I was behaving myself, several of which I was in the same days as that Relationship thread. (Plus one in the Anime forum.) I don't need posting privileges to do this, just access.
~Homer Simpson: After having our attention called to what appear to be a series of trolling comments in various article discussions, we determined that you are a sockpuppet of Ryan Burns, a troper banned for afflicting the wiki with their bizarre fetishes. This is, as far as we are concerned, beyond reasonable doubt.
You were given the opportunity to come here so we could explain our decision.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"1. That was nearly half a year ago. I haven't made any weird pages since (also, I don't really have those weird fetishes)
2. I don't recall posting any troll comments
Just leaving this here. Ban me or un-suspend me if you like. Whichever seems fit to you
Oh yeah, one more thing I forgot to say. I don't think my first account (as well as my second) really deserves to get banned. I mean, I wasn't even warned. But, that's just your choice and who am I to judge?
BTW, this is just an alternate account I made a while back because I forgot my password and I don't have any plans on using it. Ban this account too if you like, however, I just wanted to get that out.

Ban evasion = permaban. It's in the rules. Look it up. Also, that's four total accounts.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

You know exactly what you did, Tyler. Elsa's snowman as The Dragon? You were warned, and warned, and warned about this. Since you abjectly refuse to listen, you've now used up your chances. You may read the wiki, but editing is forever turned off for you.
