This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I don't recall saying that I was framed or that someone made me. Also, I still don't get how I can be banned for intent which was never truly carried out.
But, I recognize that I'm going nowhere with this, so I guess that I'll drop it. I recognize that all of this is against the rules, and that I had it coming. I've made all justifications that I can make. I suppose that I'm out of here.
This is a signature.Just to be clear, there's no way in which I can redeem myself? This was one mistake.
This is a signature.I never actually did it, though. I backed out. I knew that it would probably come to this, so I backed out. I never actually did anything to her. The fact that I actively decided to stop myself should be good enough. I'm not known for being particularly malevolent. I'm fairly well-liked. I know that I'm grasping at straws, but I would like a second chance.
This is a signature.I see it, Madrugada. I never actually did this, though. I only talked about doing it. Plus, it's not like I was actively being a dick. It would only have been an effort to report some actions; that's all. I don't tend to do things like this, and I was unaware that I could be banned for something that I only talked about doing.
This is a signature.Considering that I never acted on this, isn't a permaban a bit extreme? I mean, I get that I deserve something, but I don't think that I should be eternally forbidden from posting.
This is a signature.Look, I should have gone about this differently. I should have merely reported the problem, in good faith, and left it at that. I'm done with excuses. I know what I planned to do, and I know what I should have done. I also know that I've wasted my appeals. I probably deserve a ban, if only for the excessive justifications. I focused too much on why I acted in a certain way, and not how I will or should act. What I'm currently doing is what I should have done. By attempting to make myself sympathetic, I backfired on myself. To be honest, I'm not used to typing appeals, so I didn't know where to go with this. Do what you will. Punish me how you think I should be punished. This is the last that I will say on the matter. Thank you for your hospitality.
This is a signature.Someone was following me around the Wiki, reversing all of my edits, including edits on YMMV sections, which are — by definition — subjective. I added my edits back. I was suspended for "edit warring."
I would like to be able to edit again.
~Craverguy: Examples may be deleted from YMMV subpages when they are factually inaccurate or misuse the trope. For example, if you add The Scrappy in reference to a character, there must be something you can point to as evidence that they are widely disliked among the fans.
Fridge subpages are similar: if you are basing your statement of Fridge Logic on something that is factually inaccurate, then it may be removed. You also had a Headscratchers entry removed for being a duplicate and for being a complaint rather than a question.
I see no evidence that anyone (and I know who you're talking about) is stalking your edits, any more than a user would properly observe a pattern of trope misuse by a particular editor and check their edit history.
So, let's talk about what you did wrong, not what you believe someone else did wrong.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"My Fridge Horror post wasn't factually inaccurate. It was speculation about events that were not explicitly portrayed in the games themselves, yes, but it was speculation based on evidence presented.
And as I pointed out at the time, I'm not the only one who posted speculation on that specific Fridge Horror page. I'm just the only one whose posts were removed and who got edit banned for it.
You were banned for adding it back after it was removed, which is an Edit War. You should have discussed it.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"So, just to be clear, the presumption is that the guy who keeps removing an entry is in the right and the guy who keeps adding it is in the wrong? Or did Zaptech get suspended, too?
The editors are expected to work out the dispute in discussion and then settle on the final state of the example. Keep this attitude up and you won't get your rights back.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"So that would be a no, it was just me who got suspended. For adding in something that should be allowed there. I suspected as much.
Anyway, I've been a productive contributor to this site for five years. I've created or greatly expanded any number of tropes and pages. I've never been suspended for anything before. If I end up getting permanently banned from editing because one particularly officious mod doesn't like my attitude, then good riddance to it.
@ Fighteer: Sorry it took so long for me to respond, but if I am allowed to edit again, I will always discuss a removed example of mine before adding it back. I will also look over my edits for misspellings and such. I can improve. I will do better.
jjjNot just one.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Good morning, everyone. I would like to take a moment to say that yesterday's appeals did not make me come off well. I did not know what I was doing, considering that I am not used to typing appeals. That having been said, I take full responsibility for what I was planning on doing, regardless of my abortion of the endeavor. I know that I wasted my appeals, but I just wanted to say that. I do not expect to be reinstated, given the circumstances, but, on the unlikely chance that I am, I would issue a public apology. My actions, while somewhat well-intentioned, were partly motivated by bitterness. Know I do not plan on repeating such a mistake, at any time in the future, and that yesterday's excuses are left to yesterday. I have learned from this experience, and I know that what I did was against the rules. Again, I am aware that you don't often do this sort of thing, but I just want to be on equal footing. Please, take time to consider. I will understand any action that you take.
This is a signature. That's fine, too, Deadbeat. Like I said, I've been a gainful contributor to this site for years. I could have been a gainful contributor for years more. In the five days I've been suspended, I've come up with at least two factual, non-YMMV additions that could be made each day. If you don't want those additions because you don't like my attitude, it's your call and the site's loss.
Anyway, since it's pretty clear I'm not going to get my editing privileges back anytime soon, I'll withdraw from this thread. I just have one final thought I'd like to share: when someone who has been suspended from editing tries to edit a page, they get a message saying, in part, "This is not a punishment." You might want to consider changing that message, at least until such time as you don't permanently impose editing bans for minor infractions because the person being banned gives you "attitude." Because that is a punishment, and saying it's not just makes you look like either hypocrites or idiots.
~Craverguy: We get a lot of people coming to this thread who converse with us politely, find out what the issue is, and then resolve it, with everyone satisfied.
I expected the conversation with you to be routine: remind you about the Edit War rules — which are an absolute reason for suspension without regard for the age of your account or the quality of your contributions, obtain a promise to resolve issues properly in the future, and move on.
Instead, I got an angry PM, and when you finally deigned to come here, you threw around accusations of being stalked, demanded we punish the person who reported you, and got on our case for how we moderate.
This is all on you. The sooner you realize this, the sooner you can go back to your "valuable editing". Incidentally, we have never accepted "but I have lots of good edits to contribute" as a reason to ignore bad behavior, and we certainly aren't going to start with you.
Edit: We've had our eye on the other party as well; don't think they'll Karma Houdini their way out of anything they've done wrong. But we aren't here to discuss other people's conduct.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"OK, I wasn't going to post in this thread anymore, but there's one part of your statement that I'm simply not going to allow to stand:
I didn't "finally deign" to come to this thread. I posted roughly five minutes after I (a) learned it existed, (b) learned I needed to post here to get my editing privileges back, and (c) figured out where on the site it was, none of which anyone expended any effort (which could have been as simple as an automated PM) to explain. If I hadn't tried to post an edit when I did, it might have taken me a lot longer to post here, and that still wouldn't have been any reflection on my "attitude."
And again you nitpick at the suspension rather than the reasons for it. Can you even begin to appreciate why this doesn't make us feel like helping you? I'm trying to throw you bones and you're complaining about the angle of the toss.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"You have a funny definition of "throwing bones." Most people would prefer the term "hurling accusations."
I suspect that the bounce that you just got will make you blame us as well, but whatever. I'm tired of this argument.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

I would add that the screenshot is not only *not* all we had to go on, but there are statements you made in it that are *not* without context and are clearly stating that you were pursuing a vendetta only because you didn't like them.
We've already given you more of an appeal than we intended to, and you've squandered it on denial, then "but they made me" and (rather inept) Rules Lawyering, then "I was framed."
If you don't like that we can and will ban you for having a deliberate plan of trolling in place, console yourself with the knowledge that you were banned for something that you admitted you were already doing.
This appeal is closed.
