This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.

If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

The Forum Rules apply here.

Don'ts

  • Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
  • Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
  • Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
  • Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
  • Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Okay, good is not soft was fixed in the end (unless I didn't have enough context). Good is not nice I read as not nice/mean to other heroes or whatever, so I removed ones that seemed too ambiguous like they could be nice, but just not to villains etc. And for antihero, I just thought some overall didn't tend to fit it more than just hero/villain etc. Beelzebub and the rest were earlier, when I sort of had no idea what the rules were, but now I know. The only problem for me is that I probably don't give enough context, but I'm trying to work on that. Umm

@04801: I'm sorry, but I think you need an editing break of a good long duration, where you spend enough time reading the wiki to get a feel for what we are about. You do not get to change whatever you want just because you don't understand it.

Do the wiki rules say that I must notify before editing something?

Not as such, but individual users are not permitted to redefine tropes without seeking consensus. We have a lot of avenues of communication: discussion pages, Ask The Tropers, these forums, and more. Simply asking would have gotten you out of a lot of trouble.

What are you talking about? I’ve been following the rules. NOBODY told me to stop doing whatever it is I’m doing. If I see a grammatical mistake (which is frequent), I will correct it as stated in the editing forum. I am also inclined to add correct namespaces as needed as well as crosswicking. If I see something is amiss, I will alert somebody like when a troper kept adding an example that’s not related to what the trope is supposed to be.

And the fact there's somebody who keeps buthering up somebody's hard work and messing it up is another factor, and as a result, I am bombed by repetitive messages complaining about this tropeer who keeps messing things up. And if you're able to read private messages (which should be private and thus intruding if your capable of reading them), you should be able to read the last couple of them.

Well, I mean there would be some duplicates or pages very similar, so I just felt things needed to revolve around the basic/given definition more to clear up potential confusion, but I can say I won't change like half of the page or something or just notify beforehand, if you wont revert everything back to normal? I mean I dont think I trolled all the pages I went on (I thought I didn't with any).

@ Ghost101: Who, specifically, have you been getting PMs from about St Fan's edits on these pages? I want to get that cleared up before proceeding further, because I've been going over the histories of some of those pages you pinged me about and I'm not seeing anything he's done that's out of whack with our page formatting guidelines.

Looking under the histories, most of it no doubt got deleted because there was more to it! Such commentary even saying unholy things!

And like I said in the private message (Or close to it . . . I think), I have come across pages (as the examples I provided) where there’s the use of that slash thing, (which, if I remember correctly, can be used) instead of bullets and, in my opinion, looked neater. So I went with examples on what other people have done.

Some of the people who kept harassing me with repetitive messages are marapropa64, Phil Pickles 009, dreamwish57, mlsmithca, Tuckerscreator as well as some others but I got rid of some messages.

Other than that, I don’t understand why I’m being accused of such things that I cannot comprehend. I’ve started that Peabody and Sherman page without any complaint, I’ve started A Gnome named Gnorm without any problems along with other examples as well as crosswicking, editing, adding and any other examples.

Alright, alright, I'll also provide the reason for the edits in the history and if I want to add to the definition, go to the discussion forum first. Anything else besides flooding criticism of how bad my edits are?

[up][up] Well, I can tell you right off the bat that those first three handles are (banned) sockpuppets of Nate Spidgewood, so anything said by them can be disregarded...he's not-so-openly stalked St Fan and a few other tropers and caused havoc on pages they've worked on.

Hehe, I JUST sent you a message . . . ^^;

Anyways, there's also the tendency (which is OFTEN) where tropers will type a comma or period or such outside the parenthesis (say "Hello Bob".) which isn't proper grammar. When I edit them ("Hello Bob."), stating that ti's not correct, people still change it back.

As I stated before, I've seen people use those slashes which I also use but St Fan ALWAYS delete them!!!

Not to mention the examples I showed you:

  • Bullet names of characters that aren’t really necessary considering there are other pages that don’t bullet character names like Xiaolin Showdown for example. Or single slants that doesn’t make the document appear to be double space like in Frnachise. The Smurfs, toward the bottom before tropes are mentioned. That’s how it was originally.
  • Speaking of the slants, there are examples that go right into each other like Trivia. The Smurfs or there are others like the XS example above like Trivia.Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.
  • A third thing is he unindents examples that fit under the same category or, in a way, related like in ShoutOut.Once Upon A Time, if you look under the Season 2 folder (sorry if I sound lecturing, stating the obvious, lecturing . . . blah bleh blah) and the episode titled “Tiny.” Under the LOST example, there’s a mention of this fictional airline name, with one solid bullet and then two ‘holey’ bullets hence they fall into one another. Same for the example right below.
  • Since there are pun based episodes that are made like ‘Urban Chipmunk,’ there has been other examples like that as well that people have done.
  • And there’s the time St Fan deleted added content as well as additional folders, reverting to what it was beforehand!!!

Moving on, there are also instances where people add trope examples (like the V-Sign one wrongfully put under The Smurfs 2 that another troper kept posting and I kept removing stating, that’s not an example. It may have been going on until I went to a moderator and complained, who stepped in and stopped the troper from posting the example.

Backslashes for paragraph separators should be used sparingly, if ever, and never for multiple subexamples.

Work titles use italics. Episode titles use "double quotation marks".

When there are multiple examples for a trope or work in a list, they get indented like so:

  • Trope
    • Example
    • Example

I looked at some of your edits. You are doing them absolutely, dead wrong. Nowhere else on the wiki is your formatting style used.

Hi Creekery,

Specifically, you called someone a moron when removing a This Troper entry. Yes, This Troper is bad editing, but so is calling someone a moron. Rudeness is not acceptable in edit reasons whatever you are editing. We need you to keep cool when you edit and step away from the computer if you become frustrated. Can you do that?
