This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

And remember that YMMV is, by definition, about subjective audience reactions to a work. Since tropes are objective descriptors there can't really be subjective reactions to them.

"Yup. That tasted purple."@harryhenry: Giving edit reasons is good. Not getting into edit wars is also good.
While you're at it, though, if you're going to clean up grammar, you might want to proofread your own forum posts.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
Thanks for the civil response! But I have a question: Does your comment mean my suspension is lifted? Because as I'm typing this, I'm still suspended.

I wanted an acknowledgement. Please make sure you're checking your own work. I'll release the suspension now.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Why was I suspended?

Edit warring on Characters.Heavens Lost Property, along with leaving insults aimed at other users and flat-out ignoring attempts to resolve the situation on the discussion page.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Hey there.
This is The BHAN, and I'm happy to say that, after months of calming down, I'm ready to edit again!
I do take responsibility for having said very nasty, malicious, and outright diabolical things.
My issue is, what do I do if I see acts of Elitism and spiteful snark?
I would like to deal with this in such a manner that isn't counterproductive.
Thank you for hearing me out, and I hope you all can get back to me on this.
It's not really clear to me what, "The person who wrote this part should have very bad things happen to him. I don't really mind or care if this person dies in real life. In fact I'm sure there's no one who does love him," is supposed to accomplish as an an edit reason when the edit in question was to make a simple factual correction.
You make assertions of elitism but I certainly can't see any evidence of it in the example you corrected. In fact, the only assholery and snark is coming from you.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"If you see anything that looks off-color in an example but isn't worth deleting outright, the best tactics are either to bring it up on the Discussion page, or if that fails to work, bring it to our attention via the page flagging tool or a PM. As I'm sure you've gathered, we don't cotton to rude edit reasons, especially since the edit screen specifically says to not leave them.
Sorry for sharing PM contents on a discussion page, I had no clue that it was against the rules (hell, I didn't even know that the forum rules regulate the discussion sites). I didn't consider any of the text "personal", I just wanted to make clear that Linna and I had found a common solution and it wasn't an edit-war. I think I still have too many rules of The Other Wiki in my mind and should read the local rules before I break them again in ignorance.
Can somebody remove my suspension, pretty please? I swear that I'll try to be a good troper (and up to all good).

We allow certain leeway for many of our rules, but our users' privacy is something we have to take seriously. Thanks for understanding. I'll check with the other mods, but I see no reason not to lift your suspension.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Okay, you're free to edit again. Thanks for stopping by.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I feared as much. I'm very sorry, I was being hotheaded at the time and I won't let that happen again.
Right, well, now you understand that we are serious about the rules. I'll remove your suspension now.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Again, I got suspended. I was just cleaning up the YMMV pages by moving the Crowning Moments of Awesome/Funny/Heartwarming and Tear Jerker tropes to their own pages. What did I do this time? Wait, was it because of my DMOS entry in the Anime/Manga section of Dethroning Moment of Suck? If that's what you meant, I already saw the message from Troper/Fighteer that my entry violates the DMOS rules, and I apologize for that.

"I told you PCs were unreliable." Darwin, The Amazing World of GumballHi Ecclytennysmithylove,
You have been ignoring the rules in the Dethroning Moment of Suck section repeatedly, and then continuing to ignore them when others correct you. Examples include DethroningMoment.Anime And Manga (writing an entry that wasn't about a specific moment) and DethroningMoment.Family Guy (using all-caps when told not to; no italics or allcaps or anything can be used for emphasis, even on just one word).
That section has been a huge headache in the past, so you need to read the rules and stick to them; they are printed at the top of every page. Your behaviour tells us that you don't care about doing that.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.
Ok, maybe I was going a little overboard, but sometimes when I witness an example of Double Standard: Abuse, Female on Male moment (specifically the Big-Sister-On-Little-Brother-abuse moments I witnessed in Yu Yu Hakusho), it makes lose control of my anger so much that I viewed it as DMOS for me.
As for the "No ALLCAPS" policy, here's my message history to Candy Cane 14:
13th Jan '14 9:18:46 AM Ecclytennysmithylove to Candy Cane 14:
About the "No ALLCAPS" policy
I understand the rules about the "No ALLCAPS" policy, but I only just capitalized the word "not", nothing else. I believe the whole sentence capitalized counts as breaking the "No ALLCAPS" rules.
And this is Candy Cane 14's reply:
14th Jan '14 5:06:59 AM Candy Cane 14 to Ecclytennysmithylove:
re: About the "No ALLCAPS" policy
Sorry, if it sounded like it was only directed to you. ^_^* Lots of people were doing the same thing. If the the "No ALLCAPS" rules means what you said, then yeah, I'll let go, then. Thanks for clarifying it for me.

"I told you PCs were unreliable." Darwin, The Amazing World of GumballEdit warring is edit warring. The reasons for it are irrelevant. As useful as the work you may be doing to move YMMV tropes to the proper subpages may be, it's not worth it if you're also ignoring the rules in other parts of the wiki.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
Ok, maybe I'll keep myself away from the DMOS and just focus on cleaning the YMMV pages, so please unsuspend me.

"I told you PCs were unreliable." Darwin, The Amazing World of GumballThanks for the offer of staying away from that section. We'd like you to take a few days off to reread the site rules laid out on Welcome To TV Tropes and other Administrivia pages; come back on Sunday and we may lift your suspension. Bear in mind that there will not be more chances.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.
Your welcome. I'll be careful this time after you unsuspend me.
What the heck did I do THIS time?
Check out my site. The George The Animal Steele Fan Page! http://www.angelfire.com/fl3/jasonsite/gsteele.html

"What you did was create a YMMV page as a way to get around a valid TRS decision to cut the examples from the page. YMMV pages are also only for works, not tropes anyway."
What prevents a trope from having a YMMV page? Also, what decision was that? It didn't seem to be indicated on the main trope page.
