This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

It's "OTC" - On Topic Conversations, not "OTP" - One True Pairing. /baffled
@vagoperezoso: I'll lift the suspension, and I'm really hoping you'll approach editing in the future with the cooperative spirit of a wiki. Otherwise you'll end up here again, and while a first suspension is a warning, a second suspension is not.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Got my edits checked, and My Final Edits said I was fine save for Pot Holing To Incredibly Lame Pun inside an example of Glass Ninja.
Just came to report, that's all.
Yes, I am the guy who refused to call Magikarp Power "not worth the effort"@Mr./,s. Moderator: Yes, I understand the rules. Sorry if I was such a carefree troper.
@Nirao01: I'll restore your editing privileges, but please bear in mind that this is your second stop here. The first was for edit warring. This latest is for zero-context examples. If there's another, there won't be any more leniency.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Please let me keep editing. My job is to correct spelling grammar, add tropes in case I have a feeling something is missing, and move some tropes to YMMV.
"I told you PCs were unreliable." Darwin, The Amazing World of Gumball
Please explain to us why you thought plagiarizing IMDB for all those Critical Research Failure entries was a good idea.
I'm sorry, I didn't know. I should've read the Rules more. I apologize. I'll stop copy and pasting info from IMDB from now on. :(
And read the tropes, too. Because Critical Research Failure is not "every time a factual error is made in a work".

I understand. And thank you for reminding me.
Now will you please unsuspend me?

"I told you PCs were unreliable." Darwin, The Amazing World of GumballHow long do people usually have to prove themselves deserving of getting back their post rights?
Yes, I am the guy who refused to call Magikarp Power "not worth the effort"Please let me edit here again. :) I would love a second chance even though I don't deserve it. TV tropes is one of my favorite sites of all time :)
The PM system has be turned off for me , even though it has been several months since my punishment was supposed to have ended. Please could a mod or admin turn the PM system on again for me?
For duty, duty, must be done, the rule applies to everyone;@Ecclytennysmithylove: I'll release the suspension for you. Please be more careful in the future. Your cleanup of YMMV examples is appreciated, but plagiarism is an absolute, no questions asked, banning offense.
@Trollblade69: The issue here isn't proving yourself. You already had lots of chances to do that, and failed every time. We'll be in "fool us three or four times" territory if we let you on the forums again.
@BullaBrief101: That's not how it works. First you ask, "What did I do that got me suspended?" Then, we answer: uncommenting Zero Context Examples despite clear instructions in the article comments not to do that. Then you explain why it happened.
@ElectricalLass: The mod team has decided that you've spent an adequate amount of time making up for your errors, and we'll remove your PM block.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I am very sorry about that. I didn't know about the rules until now, but if you don't mind, why was I suspended from editing?

You were banned for persistently uncommenting Zero Context Examples.
"Yup. That tasted purple."I understand I've been suspended.
I was kinda expecting this to happen one day or another. Is it reversible or am I permanently banned for being "rude" (because I supposed that's what was invoked to ban me since I tend to have a mouth (which I'm working on)), even though most of the things I did was removing Natter and didn't edit the wiki that much recently?

Those are taken from the edit history of PlayingWith.Hysterical Woman. I have to question at what point you considered that to be acceptable conduct.
"Yup. That tasted purple."Well I'm not gonna debate with you about what I think of this, here is not the place anyway.
Yes, I'm quite the anti-feminist and quite critical of anything related to the gender theory. And sometimes I'm quite abrasive about it, I'll admit that. My original goal was to keep this wiki as objective as possible because it isn't in many parts(especially the Playing With pages), and since that seems to be impossible, I admit I lashed out. Maybe I shouldn't have but what's done is done.
And since there's nothing I can do about the ban, I accept it and you can keep it on me for as long as you feel appropriate. It's your prerogative.

The sole condition for allowing you to edit again is that you get off your soapbox and play nice with the other kids. If you don't feel that you can, then it's probably best that you leave.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"You said it yourself, Alrune:
Here is not the place for social crusading in any direction. It's not what your viewpoint is that's the biggest problem. It's that you are persistently editorializing and preaching your viewpoint, and here is not the place for that. Adding to the problem is that you are being rude and dismissive while doing so.
You've gotten into trouble over this same thing in the past, so you know that you're crossing the line. We've discussed it, and we see no reason to give you another chance.
I'm that guy who got into a edit war with anonymous1224. I admit it: I fucked up. I did something stupid. Why? Well, because i hadn't read the rules and just assumed that you only get a warning if you got into something like an edit war. Yeah, i hadn't read the tvtropes rules properly, and i apoligize for not doing so, and would like to move on from this issue and try to keep out of edit wars as much as possible, because, I'd really like too return to editing, as there are some pages i want to add some Wiki Magic too, and natter and grammer to clean up. Also, I've set a goal for myself: Whenever i want to delete an example because of one reason or another, i'll give a full reason as to why i deleted them.
I'm really not sure why I was suspended from editing. I went to this page: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/EightPointEight
, which had been a relatively entertaining read before it was edited to not include all the examples. However, it says as I'm typing this right now, "Examples can go in the YMMV tab". So I assumed it would be safe to dig into the page's history, grab the examples and shove them into a YMMV page for the trope. Not sure what I was suspended for that.
You misread the banner. It says "Examples can go on the work's YMMV tab." (Emphasis mine). What you did was create a YMMV page as a way to get around a valid TRS decision to cut the examples from the page. YMMV pages are also only for works, not tropes anyway.
"Yup. That tasted purple."

I'm fine with being banned from the OTP. I take banned from OTP over banned from PM'ing or editing or posting anywhere else. I won't mention the OTP thing again.
