This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Okay trying this again knowing on general avoid third bullets at all costs.
- One-Hit Kill:
- It's entirely possible for a high-rolling critical hit to damage a character for multiple times the maximum possible Hit Points allowed in the game engine. Whenever a character dies like this, they explode spectacularly.
- A critical hit on an aimed shot to the eyes has a very good chance of inflicting damage and then outright killing the target anyway, regardless of how many HP they have remaining, resulting in such hilarity as "[Target] suffered 0 damage from a shot to the eyes and died."

Hi, I was recently suspended. Looking back now I realize I made a lot of typos, didn't follow indentation rules, etc. I made most of them from my phone which means I couldn't edit/post properly but that's not an excuse, nor for my lack of consideration of the rules. You sent many notifications of what I did wrong but I ignored them because I thought they meant other people were fixing them for me. I was wrong. So how do we resolve this?
I was recently suspended from posting on the forums. What was I suspended for?
Let's be clear that while edit reasons are good, adding an edit reason while edit warring is still edit warring. Note the paragraph right beneath the bullet points. The idea here is to start a conversation and only revert an edit of yours if you reach an agreement about it beforehand.
~Beast C [2]
All right. Keep that in mind. You are released.
~Euro Burro [3]
Okay, good. You may go.
~Axe 23 [4]
It is not. Please read Edit War and explain what you can do and where you can go to avoid edit warring.
~Tropers/Salixshiraii [5]
Very good. Please keep in mind that you can ask the person who sent the notifier or you can Ask The Tropers for input (think of the latter as a general purpose query area) if you're not sure how to resolve something. You may go. Happy troping!
~Tropers/twofacetoo [6]
Right, then. We may disagree on the rudeness threshold, but in future interactions, please try to give other tropers the benefit of the doubt. They have nothing to gain from deliberately being rude or hostile, and also, you will lose nothing from being courteous in all situations. If you still think they're wrong in their point, you may bring up the situation in a query, and the community can learn what the issue is and give their opinions. All righty?
~Tropers/Wilben [7]
Good. I see that you got the %% formatting down and everything, and your only mistake was being too hasty. Your suspension is released.
~Blue Sparkles [8]
Great to hear! Remember to do that. You may go.
~Comrade Tom [9]
Really don't want you ending up here a third time, okay? You may go.
~Tropers/Tailikku [10]
Generally, most tropers breaking the rules aren't doing so on purpose. But we want you to know how to follow those rules, so can you first give Example Indentation in Trope Lists and Edit War so you can see where your edits on the Zelda page went wrong?
~Tropers/Rya [11]
Right, and discussion and agreement have to happen first before you can put anything back. Keep that in mind, and happy troping.
~Tropers/Babishka [12]
Yes. And if you need more opinions, Ask The Tropers is a good venue for settling matters. Your suspension is released.
~Tropers/Brydav [13]
Plenty of pages have shoddy indentation, trope misuse, misplaced YMMV items, etc. Doesn't mean those are okay, either. There are discussions (ongoing and resolved) about how to use redirects. Instead of discussing wiki policy in those venues, you refused to follow instructions to you and did what you wanted.
~Tropers/Coock-atoo [14]
Your suspension is released.
~Kingslayer 38 [15]
Good. You may go.
~Tropers/Phantomskyler [16]
Yep, that's correct. And yes, third-level bullets can be used in examples in certain situations, but they tend to be rare.
~Cool Nick Nack [17]
Hello. Yes, you should heed notifiers. Their purpose is to notify you of some wiki editing error so you can learn how to avoid making those errors in the future, which means that other people won't have to fix your mistakes. Since you've gotten a large number of indentation notifiers, we can talk about that. Please read Example Indentation in Trope Lists to get an idea of how we indent things.
~Krats Uf [18]
We allow people to have more than one account now, but it should go without saying that using them to vote multiple times is not allowed.
any chance i can get wiki unbanned to remove the offending material? i think i have an inkling of what got me banned in the first place — i got pretty heated that day over a prior forum ban, and don't come on this site very often (like once every few months) so i forgot all that venting was there.
speaking of said prior forum ban, any chance a sincere apology for what i did back then would settle things?
the mod who initially addressed my ban (or rather, ex-mod now, according to him) gave me a reasonable interpetation of how i might've offended a trans person that ultimately didn't devolve into "because i say so" (iirc a well-intentioned nudge to combat real life transhopbia can be seen as belittling fictional transphobia, even if it was unintentional), and even said the ban might've been a bit hasty in hindsight. now that i understand what the issue could potentially be, i'm willing to own up to that and apologize for it.
weaponizing Dungeon Fighter Online elitism since 2018So, how can I resolve my suspension? DO I need to wait a month? Or do I need to reply to all my PM's wit corrections?
Alright, alright. I'll appeal and try to play by your rules. But keep in mind I read that rule and it didn't make sense to me. I mean, Red Right Paw? That's not a redirect. I would like to talk about how you should update that rule so that it clarifies what a person can or cannot do in regards to those alternate titles. So keep in mind I am not trying to dig any type of hole here. I'm sorry for the unnecessary edit warring, I was only doing what I thought made the most sense.

So, how can I resolve my suspension? DO I need to wait a month or two?
Still have some. For my WMG part there is no grammatical issue but for later parts there are still some. Also here is my new Nice Guy interperation in my Jack Stauber part:
- Nice Guy: Although he is a monster, he does tell all his facts, listen to himself, and is certain all is well. Additionally, he said "Coffee at morning, sleep at night, you look like a dream come true" in reverse revealing that he was never really a monster and that he was just misinterpreted it as one. Also this causes a person (presumably Jack) to reply "Haha, it's fine" in reverse as well.

I tried to edit the Dance Rush Stardom page to remove the "new" because it's been years since its indtroduction, and found that I'm suspended. I can't find a message explaining why. What's happening?
Yeah, that makes sense. I'll be sure to use the discussion threads a lot more now if there's a point of contention between me and another user down the line so I can avoid edit warring.
I understand. I am sorry. Your advice is duly noted and I will do my best to act upon it. That's a promise.
I got banned in On-Topic Conversations almost 4 years ago due to some doom and gloom in the The General US Politics Thread, I promise no doom and gloom as well as that thread has been locked for months.
I would like to post there again in different topics like The Video Game Industry thread.
I am assuming this is the right place to ask.

Hello, thanks for my appeal. I just want a timeframe for my current suspension if that's allowable, as to know when its over.
Edited by TheFarmboy on May 18th 2024 at 11:34:19 AM
I got spurs, that jingle-jangle-jingle!Yes, and if I do make any mistakes, you can trust me to fix them once I become aware of them.
So, I've been suspended from the forums.
If its about how I've reacted about Stellar Blade on various forums, then thats on me.
I'll cool off for now (gonna be on vacation to Cancun next week anyhow) if you feel like I should be forum banned for a while. Otherwise, I'll ask to be unbanned whenever you feel like I can come back.

Watch SymphogearSorry what happened. I just wanted to change some pictures of tropes to MLP ones but the tropers said that they weren't good examples. I am very confused about how image pickin' works and that’s how I got my ban.
It sounds good though. But if I improve things on the Trope Launch Pad and do the tasks over there like you said and follow the rules and be civil with the other members, can I have my editing rights back after that when I make the next portfolio to show the record? What will it take for you guys to be comfortable in giving me wiki editing rights back and what should I do to prove it to you, because from it it feels like I can't have my editing rights for many more years to come ? I can do the Trope Launch Pad thing though and I know you guys are uncomfortable right now and it was stupid of me to do those stuff on my record and I already learnt that. But I am worried even after I do those rules that I feel like I still will never edit here again.

Hey. So, uh, I was recently suspended from the Trope Launch Pad (or at least from editing, I think.) I was wondering why.
Edited by GeekSquad24B on May 20th 2024 at 1:08:46 PM
So I've came to the conclusion that I'll won't post any more MLP related stuff on The Image Pickin' Forum. I'm sorry what I did, now can I have my ban lifted?
I was suspended from editing pages. What did I do wrong?
Edited by Wilben on May 25th 2024 at 1:23:19 PM

I've read the Edit War page and in order to prevent the same mistakes I made I will use the Discussion page, private messages to tropes I disagree with, Ask The Tropers, forums such as Trope Talk and or Wiki Talk, and or the Report Button to send a message to the staff if I disagree with an edit. With that may I please be reinstated I will be extremely careful with my edits.
