This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

: Not spelled, alphabetized. Spelling isn't the problem. I'll release your suspension.
~fredsworth (appeal)
: What are the specific actions you can take to avoid an edit war once you come into conflict with another troper, before involving moderators? Name them all. (Hint: There are four.)
Use the discussion page in the article, send a private message to the other person, ask people on the "Ask the Tropers" venue, or talk on the forums.
~fredsworth (appeal)
: Correct. I'll release your suspension.
Hi, it's been about a week since I made an appeal, should I have to wait a little longer for people to check my appeal or may I repost my appeal here since you guys now respond to the recent ones in the meantime?
Update: Nevermind, I'll wait a little longer instead.

"Now it's starting to feel like a game!"In regards to a possible Edit War, I should have taken one of the following actions
- Talked it out via the article's discussion page (leaving an edit message saying so) - Privately messaged the other troper (assuming it was one person) - Used the Ask the Tropers forum, or other forums such as Trope Talk or Wiki Talk - If this was a repeat issue, use the Report Page button in the sidebar to talk to the staff or post in Ask the Tropers
Should I wait a little longer to get my appeal checked?

I just got suspended without receiving a pm. And I've read the edit suspension, so I guess it may have something to do with that? I just wanna know what I did exactly.

I will do the get help with English to improve my grammar and spelling, get feedback on the Trope Launch Pad to improve my pages, and put more details to avoid zero content examples. For all of that I'm truly sorry for everything I did and wish to edit pages and ask questions again. So are we good.

@Fighteer:
- War Thunder:
- Some old vehicles were discontinued because later found to be not historically-based enough (such as the Coelian or the Panther II) or unbalanceable (like the Maus). If you unlocked them you can keep them, but other players won't be able to use them. The Maus however can be researched during the anniversary of the game in November, for a brief period of two weeks.
- Several premiums have been removed from the store and some periodically return just for special occasions, such as the days of specific armed forces.
Is this right?

If your appeal isn't covered in this post, you're probably in the next one — no need to post chasers just yet.
~Bubblepig (appeal here
Ok, on that basis we'll reinstate you. But we will expect you to keep your word, and please try to keep an eye on your stress levels — remember that this site is supposed to be fun. The tropers helping out on GHWE and other threads are all volunteers, and they're also supposed to be having fun.
If you end up back here again, we'll have to be more cautious about any future appeal — so there's no guarantee another suspension would be lifted. Please keep that in mind. Your suspension is released.
~muntedvoid (appeal
That's a pretty good summary of the edit war guidance. Please follow that approach if you run into this situation on the wiki again.
Now that we're confident you know the rules, we're comfortable reinstating you. However, if you get suspended a second time, it may not be so easy to appeal, so please be careful.
You've also picked up one notifier for spoilers and one for grammar - please keep an eye on those aspects when you're editing, so that notifiers don't start to accumulate.
Is all of that clear? Do you have any questions before we reinstate you?
~Lunarsand (appeals here
There will always be a range of views and different interpretations of fictional characters. You need to accept that yours is not the only valid one, and that — especially on YMMV — deleting other perspectives without consensus is unacceptable.
This is your first suspension so, as you've assured us that you understand the problem and won't do it again, we are broadly comfortable reinstating you.
But if it does happen again (with any topic, not just this particular Danganronpa character), a second suspension will be much harder to appeal. Is that clear?
~Nukeli (appeal
This was avoidable and could have been resolved without a suspension if you didn't keep arguing in PM after the thump. Criticising examples of intolerance from a particular individual or religious denomination certainly isn't banned — if it's on-topic for the thread — but emotive, blanket statements about an entire faith aren't welcome. The Quakers are not interchangeable with the Westboro Baptist Church, for example.
More specifically, we have a dedicated "LGBTQ+ Rights and Religion" thread
, as you are aware, and that particular conversation should normally stay there.
Regarding the wiki suspension — as you note, the original plagiarism issue
was resolved, and you mention
that you did get your spelling and grammar issues reviewed by the GHWE thread. More generally, we can see that this has improved since your suspension. On that basis we're comfortable to lift the wiki suspension as well.
However, you've now been suspended once from the wiki and once from the forums. And both were for relatively serious issues.
If there's a third issue on either part of the site, there's no guarantee you'll get another chance. Is that clear?
~Siegfried 1337 (appeal
There are a number of things we'd like to flag, including unilateral MB quote decisions
, joking about someone returning from a mental health suspension, off-topic comments, unilaterally deciding to reassign a troper's MB work-in-progress
when they were offline for a while, and some snark aimed at particular votes.
Individually, none of these are issues that would trigger a subforum suspension (and most wouldn't warrant a thump), but they've been adding up for a while.
The other factor is that you're co-ordinating much of the day-to-day Magnificent Bastard approval and cleanup discussion, so this has a larger impact on the tone and culture of those threads.
As a starting point, we just want to call this out and make sure you understand why it's a problem. Can you see why we're concerned?
~Impaler (appeal
You were suspended due to your edits on Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Firstly, you added an example
explaining that a particular character's return was spoiled by a Content Leak showing merchandise.
This was then deleted
by another troper, with an edit reason explaining that we don't trope leaks. You then added it back
, breaking our edit war policy.
This is your first suspension, so we need to ensure that you understand the problem before we can reinstate you. We have two separate issues here. One is the edit war, the other is the content leak and unreleased works policy. Which would you like to discuss first?
~muntedvoid (appeal
)
Great - on that basis, your suspension is released.
I also agreed to my own warning. Don't mean to be presumptuous, but never got an acknowledgement.
I can totally see why you're concerned, Mrph, because these are considered by many to be bad behavior on the forums. I do not plan to escalate this behavior anymore.

Eh, good enough.Well. I guess we could start with the edit war. I am not sure what to say.I really didn't realize that was an edit war regarding the leak content. From what i saw in other places I thought it will take more than that to be an edit war and i wasnt planning anyway to edit again. I was really just gonna let it the way it was edited last time by the other person.

I understand. I'll try my best. And won't delete YMMV tropes without permission or reason.
I have begun writing trope examples in “Get Help With English” forum and I have five examples corrected. I promise that from now on I will write tropes in this forum first before adding them, while also conversing with clean-ups in YMMV forums first before adding YMMV tropes

If you release me from suspension, I promise I won't re-index the Emmy Awards Page.
Synchronicity Delete it in that case. That was a wrong information.

Can the leads tell me what did i do to get suspended? just tell me what i did wrong and i promise not to do that again

I have read it. Multiple times. Maybe I just don't understand the question.
