This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

I was banned, i really need to be in lost and found to see if someone answerd my query, i don't edit often, and i was very mad because i am very sure you removed a trope; or trope example i really was looking for
Roarior616, your suspension was for the tantrum-y thread you made demanding to know what happened to the Battle School trope. Get back to me with a definition of "civil" and an indication you can act like something other than an upset child, and I'll lift the block.
And by the way, "I was really mad" is not a valid reason for pitching a tantrum on the forums. (hint: there is no valid reason for pitching a tantrum anywhere on the site.)

I'm wondering why I am still banned. If someone could actually tell me that would be nice.
there are alot of reasons to throw a tantrum on the forum, mine was just not one of them.
civil
1. Of or relating to ordinary citizens and their concerns, as distinct from military or ecclesiastical matters. 2. (of disorder or conflict) Occurring between citizens of the same country.
Bzzzt. Wrong answer on the definition of "civil".
And I said valid reason.

So, am I right to assume that I will never be unbanned?
If this is about the rudeness with my edit reason on the namespace move of Stealth, Septimus warned me off at the time and I apologized.
Trust me, I'm an engineer!civil
being calm and courteous and compliant while tvtropes is being an Orwellian editor
Your persistent hate-on for Barack Obama not withstanding.

"Yup. That tasted purple."Hello? What happened?
Trust me, I'm an engineer!Bubblesishot46853: The personal attacks are a problem, but there's also the fact that you wouldn't relent from the argument and then proceeded to say "glad to know when you lost". Driving other people to annoyance is not winning, it's just an exercise in frustration.
bgcallegari: You're free to have your opinion. Just as we don't allow censoring swearing, we also discourage random profanity just for the sake of shock value. The ideal is a middle ground. Can you work with that?
yaya0: Repeated contributor page vandalism.
StarSword: You've been here long enough to know not to yell at people in edit reasons.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerRoarior616, you're demonstrating that you don't get the concept of "civil". You'd have been fine if you'd stopped with the first art of the definition. But I see no reason to believe that you will behave civilly. Not lifting the block.

@lu127: Yes, I have. I have a slight tendency to just blurt out what I'm thinking and I'm sorry about that.
Trust me, I'm an engineer!![]()

That's what I mean by losing common sense. It won't happen again.
If you could just admit that the battle school definition was removed without a trace, also i had a good record prior to putting myself on a wild goose chase, and as for the barack obama thing i thought it would be funny. its hard to be civil when you feel humiliated and angry
Roarior616: You'll be happier somewhere else on the web. The suspension escalated to full bounce.

Goal: Clear, Concise and Witty
Yes. Yes, I can work with a middle ground. For a little while, I've been steadily getting the impression that a middle ground is what the site seems to be aiming for, so I think it's safe to assume that it was probably never a matter of people completely ignoring the family friendly policy that I was trying to enforce. I understand why breezy language is encouraged since this site is obviously different from more formal information sites, and it helps people to have the equivalent of informal, everyday conversations like the ones you would have with your friends or with fellow fans of something you like(with limitations of course, but obviously, that's a good thing). The goal of this site in general, seems to be to make it as fun and breezy as possible, but to also heavily enforce things that are clearly inappropriate and that happen on other sites without clear boundaries.
In short, now that I understand this site, it's purpose and why other people view this aspect of the site as being "healthy" (the aspect of making it not too formal, but not so flexible that people can be rude to each other, use tons of profanity and talk about inappropriate topics, etc) I accept this condition. Now, the only thing I'm worried about is the possibility of coming across a situation where the profanity's appropriateness is highly debatable. What I'm referring to specifically is that sometimes, tropers employ the Precision F-Strike (whether it's actually the F-word or some other expletive) to get what they believe is a powerful point across. What if I feel like it's not something that's worth swearing about, is in there for shock value more than anything else and made an edit? Would I get in trouble if I ever did that? And what's the best method to deal with it? Should I consult another troper to make sure what the best decision is before I do anything, or should I work it out with whoever posted it in the first place? That's all I really need to know at this point. In the meantime, I hope this is a good, fair statement, and that we have now come to an understanding. I look forward to hearing back.

La la la la la. It goes around the world, just la la la la la. It's all around the world, just la la la la la. And everybody's singing...I kinda have to make a righteous change. I would do any harm, I promise.
Hey there.
I was banned over how I was harassing someone via P Ms, and that happened about a year ago. I've since talked it over with them and apologized, and I would be happy if I could post on the forum again. If nothing else, I'd at least like to be able to edit the wiki again.

Why? I did nothing wrong.
