This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules
apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't spam the thread about your appeal, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Amazon Chaser: Blake beginning a romantic relationship with Yang is consistent with her previous two love interests (Adam and Sun) representing "strength" in some way, since Yang is physically the strongest of Team RWBY.
Women Prefer Strong Men: Two of Blake's love interests (Adam and Sun) represent "strength" in some way, with Sun being based on one of mythology's mightiest warriors, and Blake initially believing that Adam embodied strength before realizing that he was too spiteful.
@Synchronicity The options are:
- Go to the Discussion page.
- Private message
- Ask The Tropers
Hello, I have been suspended for making too short pages according to harryhenry's. First, I'm not trying to cause any trouble, I'm sorry if I broke any rules, but I'd like to point out that harryhenry's examples are wrong. The Wonder Woman page was made a year ago, I'm willing to concede to the point that it's shorter with eight examples, but the Batman and Spider-Man pages were big enough to justify being a page; the Batman page had 18 examples, while the Spider-Man page had 12 examples.
So those two pages were not too short to warrant being made unless those numbers were not right for their own pages. I know this was discussed before, but I thought I was making pages that had enough examples. The other discussion was putting in examples from different mediums; that discussion wasn't solved, so I decided to make pages without using multiple mediums.
I'm not trying to cause trouble, and if you feel that sub-pages shouldn't be made, I will accept it, but I just want to know, is there a number of examples needed to make a sub-page, because I assumed it was 9/10 examples and you said there was not a guideline for making pages like this yet.
Good afternoon, I appear to have been suspended, second time here after 8 years. I suspect it may be due to thump accumulation. I do believe my most recent one, which sent me over here, was just a reference at how the very same discussion at hand went last time in one of those threads, rather than trying to shift the topic to discussion of a single person (just namedropping the troper who provided solid arguments the previous instance), but still, I apologize.
Other than that, yeah, I am a bit jumpy; working on it, at times rudeness is a bit of a cultural clash, but, yeah, I don't want to make discussion of things I enjoy uncomfortable to other people.
What do I do to get unbanned. I did the working on my English thing. Do I keep waiting now. I was told by them lot to ask here about getting unbanned

Here is my third post
Western Animation/Velma
- Narcissist: Velma believes she’s smarter and better then everyone around her, so the second she comes to a conclusion, she stubbornly sticks with it as the alternative would be admitting she was wrong.
YMMV/Velma
Velma has a huge crush on Fred, only to completely lose interest once he develops feelings for her. She only seems to express her love for Daphne when the latter is ignoring her or being rude. Whenever the two start becoming friends again, Velma suddenly starts ignoring her and putting her off. Finally, Velma had treated Norville like a tool throughout the entire series, yet immediately falls in love with him the second he starts hating her. It seems like Velma Wants to Be Hated, given that she only appears be attracted to characters who hate her.
Elias has the ability to make people feel aroused when he walks through them. This by itself already falls into the realm of Double Standard: Rape, Sci-Fi. It is never stated whether or not the people he affects are capable of taking no for an answer. It is only the short duration that Elias’ powers last that keeps him from having the ability to turn people into rapists.
A Double Standard of The Big Three is the use of The Chain of Harm. The Bumbling Dad is treated as a Troubled Abuser with the abuse they suffered from being Played for Drama while the abuse they subject their child to being Played for Laughs. Taking it a step further, when the Bumbling Dad stands up to or punishes their father it is treated as a Catharsis Factor, while their child is Made Out to Be a Jerkass if they try to retaliate.
The Legend of Korra: Ruins of the Empire
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Kuvira’s parents. Kuvira is depicted as an Enfant Terrible, however her antics aren’t really all that different from your typical misbehaving child. The only difference is that Kuvira is an Earthbender. Given the nature of the series, it is highly unlikely that something like this isn’t a regular occurrence. This makes Kuvirira’s parents come across as Lazy Bums who’d rather pawn her off on Suyin then properly discipline her themselves.
Jeffrey Keith Wong’s Massive Multiplayer Crossover ‘’Just Won't Die’’ involves Ranma Saotome having a personal vendetta against Genom due to the death of his family from boomers. However, while Ranma has his canon counterpart's looks and past, his personality resembles a good counterpart of Happosai, and his fighting style is something more out of Dragon Ball Z then the original series.
- Alternative Character Interpretation: Dr. Olivia Kramer from “Processed” never realized that her former client Ruthie wasn’t molested by her half- brother Noah Tramble due to it continuing to happen after he was kicked out of the house, something that took the two of then two minutes to realize once they finally talked to each other. There is no argument that this was a dereliction of duty, but was it simple incompetence or did she help frame Noah?
The show flip flops on how Hank deals with Peggy’s Pride having him either feed into her delusion when does things like accidentally kidnapping a Mexican child, nearly gets herself arrested for smuggling drugs into prison, or having him put his foot down, only for him to turn out to be wrong. These instances are treated less as Peggy Crying Wolf but more as Hank being in the wrong for not believing in her.
Hank
- Aesop Amnesia: Whenever Hank does get Bobby to participate in what he feels are more appropriate activities, when Bobby tries to warn him about how dangerous it is, Hank brushes his son's complaints off as whining.
- Kick the Dog: Hank can be rather condescending to Bobby when he feels that Bobby is too young for something. This ranges from making him eat off the kid’s menu despite him being 13 and everyone else eating off the adult menu to not letting him watch wrestling because it is TV-14 and even putting parental blockers on the TV Guide. Hank usually does receive some form of Laser-Guided Karma when he does this.
- Alternative Character Interpretation: Is Hank really the Only Sane Man, or just an Accomplice by Inaction? There are many instances where he ignores the antics of his friends and family (usually either Bill or Peggy) no matter how much they inconvenience others until it it starts to become a problem for him.
- How much are Bill’s antics serious and how much is just him wanting attention? It has been pointed out that while he claimed he was trying to kill himself in “Pretty Pretty Dresses”, he seemed to have specifically waited until Hank had gone outside to see him before climbing on the roof. Instead of jumping off, he rolled off and even tried to catch himself.
My Confirmation Of Compliance:
I have just recently read and reviewed each and every thing (about the Edit War) very slowly and steadily with careful consideration, I've kept my remembrance in mind, and I crossed my heart too
I would gladly like to apologize for the fact that I used the "What Could Have Been" and "Follow the Leader" entries the wrong way, now that I finally realize what I did and where I went wrong
I also deeply regret to inform you that sometimes, but only very occasionally, I'm a very few little meticulous about my strong and neat written communication skills, even when it comes to editing
I'm also well aware of and specific with appropriate and necessary use of reasoning skills when needed, otherwise I'll compose myself, just want(ed) to make sure that I do understand clearly
The thing is... I only come and go to and from TV Tropes every once in awhile, only if and when I feel to, most cases, whatever the circumstance, I appear infrequently compared to everyone else
Bottom Line: From now on, I will always learn how to think things through instead of and without losing sight and integrity of doing what's right, which is more important like/than among others
If you'll be so kind as to tell me what my very next step is, I'll be ready and overly prepared for it, and also, please forgive me for trying to be creative, I have no further excuse, I'm really very sorry

Alright, to avoid starting an edit war, I can post on the discussion page, message the user whom I'm "warring" with, or notify an admin. Don't intend for a edit war to happen again, as I don't approach stuff on Tvtropes with any animosity or aggression. I just like to edit in peace and for fun.
So, don't add another image in the Moments pages, use Ask The Tropers regarding the hidden notes, and make an IP thread if I want to change the Image Pickin' consensus. I'll follow those rules and try not to forget or deliberately ignore it this time.
I originally made an edit to YMMV/Vandread because user Hawkatana made comments about a transgender character's portrayal that weren't accurate. I explained my reasoning. Hawkatana later reverted my changes without messaging me or taking it to the discussion page or a forum, only doing so after I messaged them about it. I also re-reverted the changes, but I only did this specifically because the Administrivia page on Edit Warring says to do so in order to mention moving to the Discussion page. I was trying my best to follow the rules and take it to a space where the issue could be defused.
Next, Hawkatana posted in an Ask The Tropers thread about the issue, but misrepresented the main point I was making in my edit reasoning and discussion post, latching onto particular wording instead. I've since replied, but I was already suspended at that point.
If handling this situation again, I would've messaged Hawkatana upon my first edit, since it was an involved change that required a lot of explanation. But otherwise, if there's some way I could've handled it better, please let me know.
Hello, could I please be informed as to why I was suspended from the forums at the end of last month?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyOk
[Faster Than They Look]:Invoked deliberately by Mark Waid. In the very first issue, Hulk is seen towering over everyone around him while also moving as blur from running so fast.
[Viral Transformation]: The gamma radiation sent off-world into a warp portal from Earth-112 Bruce in issue 6, bathed the "Abominations" already stuck on Hulk Planet. The "Great Download", as they call it, gifted the Abominations with intellect matching their strength; evolving them from the the rest of the mindless monsters.
Metal Max 1991 deleted their account and was caught ban evading and has been bounced.
If you were not responded to by a moderator in the last 48 hours, please reappeal. If you were, another reminder to be patient.

I got a rock for Halloween.~Tropers/mattmcc Appeal
The context is a bit shaky (it doesn't appear that Blake specifically pursued these relationships because she values strength) but you fixed the trope slashing issue. Do you have any questions concerning ZCE and Indentation policy?
~Doctor Sleep Appeal
~Tropers/Eriorguez Appeal
You were suspended for accumulating 25 thumps over the years (and about half of them were issued between 2022-2023) and for rudeness issues. It shouldn't have taken that many thumps for you to get the message. Can we trust you will be able to post on the forums without sniping at other users?
~Night Owl Warrior Appeal
I don't think you spent enough time on the Get Help With English thread. You were told to try to get a few consecutive posts though the thread that only require minor corrections.
~Tropers/Jinpuu Appeal
Please do not post the entries you used for the Get Help with English thread here. They need to be kept on that thread.
You also need to spend more time on the Get Help With English thread. You made two ([1]
and [2]
) posts that were a month apart and both required multiple corrections.
Also, we told you to directly answer what we asked you here:
~Tropers/zahin4us Appeal
We still need you to tell us where you can discuss editing conflicts according to that page.
~Tropers/lameasskid
You already said discussion page but PMing is one way to settle an edit war. However, getting an answer from the other person isn't guaranteed. You can go to the forums or Ask The Tropers to get consensus from the community. Also, you should only report an edit war to moderation if one already happened. If you need more input on the dispute, Ask The Tropers is where you should go. Remember that you should bring the contested edits up for discussion before editing the page again. I'll release your suspension.
~Light Seeker 001
That's correct. I'll release your suspension.
~Anon V Appeal
What you did wrong here was that you should have left the edit alone until consensus was reached. Technically, both parties edit warred in this case but only you were suspended because it seemed at first that you had a anti-trans agenda. That no longer seems to be the case under further examination so we'll release you from your suspension.
~Spectacular Troper appeal
Pages like EarlyInstallmentWeirdness.Wonder Woman (made in 2022) and CrossoverShip. The Owl House (made last month) are not really long enough to warrant their own pages yet.
You are right that we don't have hard guidelines on precisely when to split — and you are also welcome to contribute to that discussion
— but that doesn't necessarily translate to "just keep making these tiny pages until a hard rule tells me to stop". Other tropers presently disagree with these pages being made, and you ought to know this and acknowledge it in your editing practices as the issue has come up repeatedly with you.
Please check out this forum thread
to get a sense for the size of pages tropers currently find worth splitting off. Your suspension is released.
~Tropers/wanderlustwarrior appeal
Since the last time you were suspended from the forums two years ago, you've accrued 10 thumps, most of them because you turn the discussion to the troper you are disagreeing with (what we call a 'personal' thump). That was capped off by a multiple-thump disagreement in the Wrestling forums
. That's not how we play around here — even if the other user's POV gives you an aneurysm, don't make it about them and especially don't use passive-aggressive wording like "you said this but whatever" while doing so.
Is that clear?
Macron's notesFor Edit War: I'd like to go through all of the above, I can't decide very well, so yeah, that's me, please confirm and follow up if I may, if I'm in the said page regarding that topical subject, would you mind telling me exactly where to go from there on and what pray tell do I have to do about it?
Because if you don't mind, I'm kind of lost and stuck, but I get your point of the previous message
Edited by zahin4us on Jun 15th 2023 at 9:43:04 AM
If I am being accused of misinterpreting something, how should I explain that my interpretation was valid, if directly quoting the wording I am accused of misinterpreting (or quoting myself, to point out someone is changing what I said, in one instance) is seen as making something personal?
In any case, I left the thread in question and will not be interacting further with the person I was in disagreement with in all but one of the thumps in question, and informed the mod who thumped me that that is what I was doing, the day it happened.
Edited by wanderlustwarrior on Jun 16th 2023 at 10:41:31 AM
The sad, REAL American dichotomyYeah, I will do my best to not snap at people, a thump every 2 months is a tad too much (and seeing I saw a similar pattern in different forums, it IS a "me" issue). I'm working on it, but still, I'm sorry for the bad attitude.
@Macron Notes what else do I need to do? My Englishnis fine as it is the only language Im fluent in?
"If you would like to stay here as a contributor, you need to be to handle notifiers civilly and treat other editors with respect whether it's in PM's or elsewhere. Is that clear?"
Yes, sir. Perfectly clear. I just assumed Ron The Death Eater did refer to single instances of evil depiction in fanfictions of canonically heroic characters.
Hi, I've just realized I've been suspended from editing pages here, can I please find out what did wrong?
You guys were correct in your assessment. Despite my lack of knowledge regarding the cut-listing of Carita De Angel's page, the two previous instances where I was suspended due to edit warring should have prompted me to reconsider adding the item back. This principle can be applied to any other page and is not limited to Works Needing Tropes. Therefore, it was inappropriate for me to defend myself based solely on the specific section.
Edited by justinmcmahan198849 on Jun 20th 2023 at 11:37:19 AM

~Tropers/mattmcc That's one way to fix the entry. Another way would be to just remove the other trope entirely and then focus the example writeup on the trope you decided to keep. Can you write out two separate entries for Amazon Chaser and Women Prefer Strong Men?
