This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

EDIT - To note also, the paragraph about me explaining myself and the "bite me" comment have been edited out of the offending post that was thumped. I haven't had this happen before and didn't know that it would stay blanked no matter how I edited it, which I did to re-post another aspect of discussion unrelated to the matter.

Ok, Here's what I see.
- The thumped message read as ruder than you intended it to. As the Rules post notes, [paraphrasing] 'Adding "Just kidding" or a smiley to an otherwise rude post doesn't carry much weight'. In this case, the smiley didn't outweigh to general tone of the post. Editing a thumped message after the thump is also something that makes us suspicious; in most cases it's not innocent, it's an attempt to try to slip something past the moderation or to cover-up. I accept that in this case that's not what you were trying to do. In any case, the ability to edit a thumped message is a hole that we're going to try to plug.
- The suspensions were the result of the PM exchange you had with Shimaspawn, specifically your assertion that moderators telling users how to edit constitutes being a dick, in your book. That read as though you don't understand that the mods' job involves occasionally telling editors how to edit.
Now, all that said, I, personally, don't see that your edit requests were particularly "complainy", but all I know about the Final Fantasy franchise is that it seems to have a hugely broken base, especially when it comes to Cloud/Aerith/Tifa, and that I try to stay 'way the hell away from it for that reason. On the other hand, the last couple edits you requested were for tropes that are often used to sneak in stealth (or not-so-stealth) complaints, so I can see what Fighteer was reacting to with his "complainy" comment. Please keep in mind that the point of the wiki is to catalog storytelling devices, not complain about things in the work that we don't like.

If the suspension is going to stick then, may I ask when it will be lifted? And if not, is there a way to allow me to view my P Ms? I won't bug any of the mods, but I've been told I've received one, which is a rarity for me so I think it may be related to this incident.

Yes, I don't recall exactly what I said in the PM but obviously I worded myself poorly. I still don't think "bite me" is something to warrant this type of discipline, but I get it, I'll watch my behavior and language in the future. I don't use the forums often so I didn't know rules on conduct were so strict here.

I used to have a "running gag" going along that basically amounted to Take That! against Take That!. It got me in a lot of trouble, and even had a few hits on Google. When I saw that, I immediately retired the gag and moved on to more polite ways of expressing discomfort with the gag.
Given recognition, I can and will stop being a jerk. If my word is not good enough, then I understand and will accept my fate.

I have no firm idea what caused an editing rights suspension, but I have a few ideas. I'm going to have to hear about whatever it is from you guys because I've had zero warnings or indications that there were any issues. I'm not sure how often this is actually administered, so a PM may be easier to deal with given possible traffic and time issues.
It looks like you are exporting a fanwar over Fanfic.The Conversion Bureau related stories. Tropers are not your army. We're not interested in getting mired in fan dramarama at all.

I would like to appeal my suspension. This began in the Request for Edits to Locked Pages thread, I made a request for an edit to the Final Fantasy VII page, that the trope Left Hanging be added. Moderator Fighteer told me "stop making complainy edits to FFVII and friends". I explained I was not complaining when I made my suggestion, and noted examples that I had made many non-complain edit requests, ending with the comment "bite me" and a smiley emoticon.
Moderator shimswarm blocked out my comment and sent me a PM informing me I had been "thumped". When I questioned why and said Fighteer's comment was just as inflamatory, I was suspended. I used no crude or inflamatory language with shimaswarm, I just questioned why I had had my post blanked, and I have no intention to continue to flame anyone. To be suspended over "bite me" and questioning why it got a post blanked is, to me, ridiculous.
EDIT - I would also note I've posted an apology in the forum, and I do mean it, for what it's worth.
