This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.

Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Solomontastic, you need to look at How To Write An Example to understand the editing basics. A few of your edits are problematic. If someone is Badass, you don't have to write it in bold. It just looks ugly. A work's name should not be potholed in a character's name. To give you an example:
- Sasuke Uchiha is the foil to the main character. Wrong
- Naruto: Sasuke Uchiha is the foil to the main character. Correct
Lastly, give Example Indentation a very thorough look. Many people still get it wrong. I can release your suspension if you understand.

But considering that you have shown no indication that you understand why we don't want inaccurate information on the wiki, we will need something more than "Please, I want to." as a reason for letting you edit again.

It looks like I managed to garner myself a suspension, and I have a feeling I know what it's for: Natter on the page for Aliens (in two different places, but done in the same edit... I think. It's been a while.) In hindsight, I'm surprised I didn't catch it, even though I make it a point to ALWAYS preview my edits before I post them. Natter is not my intention.
After being natterfied (but before the suspension) I even figured out a way to rephrase the edit so that it doesn't sound like natter. I made the decision not to add the natter-free version back to the page because it also is not my intention to get involved in an Edit War.
If my edit suspension is for some reason *other* than the natter (which I promise was not intentional), I would like to know what it is. I very rarely edit anything, but having my editing privileges back would still be nice.
Well, yes, there was that natter. And a good bit of response to stuff that should just have been repaired. And some "And how!" type insertions.
In general, a good bit of stuff that doesn't help us keep the articles reading like articles rather than discussion threads. The reasons sounding like discussion threads is bad are many. For one: ever seen a forum thread that stayed tightly on one topic? Me neither. Not letting the article slide into discussion keeps the topic front and center.
I'll lift the suspension. I hope you'll be able to help us with this.

I made an offensive edit towards one of the moderators. I quickly deleted it, knowing it was petty, but I imagine that's not enough to gain a reprieve. So I guess this is basically a ban then.

Unfortunately there is not decision we can make that will please everyone. We have to make some hard decisions sometimes for the good of the wiki knowing that. There are threads where you can discus what's going on in the wiki rationally. Vandalizing it is not the way to encourage people to listen to your voice.

Hey, so... I've been banned for a while now, and I kinda miss editing. I admit I was being a total prick back when I was banned, and so I sulked for a while, but lately I've been reading TV Tropes more and more again, and I miss contributing to the general community. Some of the pages for some of my favorite series are seriously neglected, (largely because they're so obscure), and it just makes me sad. So please lift my edit ban, please? Also, my PM privileges. I don't know if this is the place for them, and it's not as important, it's just annoying.

I am a long time troper of your site and I have made many contributions to the site. And I want to specifically lodge a complaint about how you people have treated me in the last 48 hours. And I would specifically like to report Native Jovian, who has been an asshole to me instead of actually talking out a problem, he instead goes and has me suspended, even though I pointed out I wanted to avoid an Edit War and yet *I* am the one who gets punished? How is this fair? When I actually do get upset, what does that guy do, get me suspended from the site, that's absolutely dickish.
Sure, I may have been wrong, but this is what's wrong with your website. You don't give warnings, because you "claim" that there wouldn't be any point to it. You claim you don't want to people to feel bad. Well, that's total crap, I think that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If you had sent me a warning, I would have knocked it off. Instead, you just let me find out when I try and fix an error in a trope on the Avatar The Last Airbender page. That's extremely poor handling of a site with many different contributors. What the hell is wrong with you people? I also love how you don't try and give me a chance to check any P Ms I might have, so therefore I can't figure out if I DID get any P Ms explaining that to me. Why was I suspended?
@geneslamm: You're getting one last chance. Further behaviour of this sort will not merit you a third chance.
@Dr JS Marshall: You were banned for sending insulting PMs to another troper Nocturna complaining about the standards she was holding Five-Man Band too.
This is a rather narrow trope that's highly over used and the standards that she is holding it to are the ones agreed upon for the trope. Yes, it means there will be very few examples. It's not a common trope. Over 95% of the examples are bad. That's why it needs clean up.
Even if it wasn't, there's no excuse for your behaviour in sending abusive PMs. What led you to this path?
@ Dark Hero 9: You were edit warring for which you were given a wiki ban just to bring you here to talk to us and explain what was going on. You compounded the issue by sending an abusive PM to Native Jovian and made a new account to ban evade. These actions have turned what would just have been a slap on the wrist into something more serious.
Can you please explain why you chose to do this? You have always seemed like a good troper before.
@Tomodachi The vandalism was reverted and the user who called you that name was banned. The reason for your ban was because you seem to have a poor grasp of grammar, Zero Context Examples, and page formatting. Until you improve in all of these areas, I am afraid we cannot let you edit.
There is hope though, we have threads in wiki talk for getting help with example writing and grammar. I would stop by there. The people in the threads are very helpful and are willing to help you edit correctly.
@Demo Reality: You are suspected of being a sock of a banned user, and you have been exhibiting an unhealthy fixation on punctuation and appearance tropes. The latter of which you seem to misuse terribly. Can you please tell me why you misuse appearance tropes?

I don't understand what you mean. What are these appearance tropes you're refering to, and I don't believe I've been misusing anything.
@Demo: You have been completely missing the point of appearance tropes. They do not mean X character has Y attribute which is how you have been listing them on pages. They mean that because X character has Y attribute it indicates something deeper about the character's personality and narrative significance.
Here are a few of the misused entries you have contributed:
- Purple Eyes: It's said that Odette was based on Aurora and maybe that's why she was given this eye color.
This example says nothing about the actual trope. Purple Eyes is not just about a character having Purple Eyes.
The Green Eyes example was added as a Zero Context Example and misuse on the Disney Princess character sheet with no mention of how the character fit the trope. It is not just anyone with Green Eyes.
I can continue, but you have a long history of abusing these tropes.

I don't remember adding lots of things. The only complaints I'm currently aware of seem to be about eye color. I didn't add many eye color tropes, but now I see I didn't do something right. There wasn't a warning about not adding Green Eyes to Rapunzel. Aurora, Cinderella and Ariel had their eye colors listed without a description, so I figured why not Rapunzel.
Now I see that some eye color trope on certain pages are not to be added. Or if they're listed, they need to be accompanied by a description, and that description has to be truthful and make the adding have a point.
In this page, Gothel's Gray Eyes do not have a description. I presume ths is because her personality and character tropes compliment her eye color, thus her eye color doesn't need a description.
Okay, I promise when adding appearance tropes or any kind of tropes, they won't be Zero Context Examples and will be followed with a description if necessary.

We're doing massive clean up on appearance tropes. It's not just eye colours you have misused. Other tropes include White-Haired Pretty Boy/Girl which you listed "The majority of winter faeries" without any explanation. Your pattern of behaviour shows that you are not actually reading trope descriptions before adding them.
And your editing patterns also point to you being the sock of a banned user as I mentioned before.

Ignoring comments is a grounds for an automatic suspension, no questions asked. Those examples were commented out because they were Zero Context Examples and a note to that effect was on the article. You blatantly ignored this.
Please read Zero Context Example and indicate your acknowledgement and understanding of it.
