This is the thread we use to talk things over with people who have received a suspension notice. A lot of the time the notice goes out just so we can explain how seriously we take certain things, not because we want the person to feel bad and go away.
If you're suspended, give What to Do If You Are Suspended a read, then post here to begin your appeal. We try to respond to appeals in order via batch posts every few days. If a moderator has responded to your appeal, you will receive a notification in your private messages, even if you're suspended from PMs.
The Forum Rules apply here.
Don'ts
- Don't be rude. Rule 1 applies here, too.
- Don't try to negotiate your suspension outside of this thread, such as by sending Private Messages to moderators or posting elsewhere. Such activity may be thumped or otherwise removed, and may warrant an additional suspension block if it keeps happening. All communications have to take place within this thread.
- Don't respond to other suspended users. This is a place for you to discuss your suspension, not others'.
- Don't post multiple times about your appeal if it hasn't been a few days since your last reply from us, since it makes it more difficult to compose responses. If you've posted, we're likely looking at it, and kindly request you to be more patient.
- Don't make another account to try and get around your suspension. This is called ban evasion and will get you bounced. (Again, read What to Do If You Are Suspended if you don't know what these words mean.)

Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI would love to edit again, because TV tropes is a site, thats so cool. Please let me edit. This time ,I'll be more serious. Thank you.
Not sure that's an important question, Fighteer.
Portal2000: It is nice, that you think we are a site and all, but we're looking for people who can post examples and tropes that don't need quite as much fixing. Thanks for showing an interest.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI was quite upset over something the other day, and in a lapse of judgment took it out on a page I started.
http://twitter.com/raydere | http://raydere.tumblr.comYou still haven't given me the feedback I need. What SHOULD I do?
Hi. I'd like to edit again.
Need feedback on possible edit-banning lift I had told was going to be followed up on around two weeks ago. Still don't know if I'm going to be allowed back on or what - I would really like to know, just so I don't get my hopes up. Thanks for any reply, however.
Little fish, big fish, swimmin' in the water, come back here and give me my daughter...Hello, I would like to edit again after several months now.
NOTE: Some of these comments may appear redundant, but the thread reset wiped them out, so I'm starting fresh in a sense.
Moleman, a couple of things. One, it hasn't been a year, and two, "because I want to edit again" is not a valid reason to lift a ban that was because you weren't editing properly in the first place. Like I said before the thread reset, are you going to treat YMMV examples properly? Arbitrarily removing them was what got you in trouble.
Hammerhead, Eddie's been coming down pretty hard on people who make edits just to gripe about the staff. The rest of the mods and I support him on this. I'm not favorably inclined toward anyone who thinks that's an acceptable way to behave. But it was your attitude about it that rubbed the wrong way. You seemed to feel that "not letting people cuss out the staff" was some kind of abrogation of your rights. Now I'm willing to let you back but it puts us in a bit of a tricky spot because someone may see it as condoning that attitude. Can we call pax?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Why am I blocked from editing? What did I do? I have been on here very little lately and I swear I have not been rude to anyone or anything, what did I do? I haven't been on any discussion pages. The only editing I have done lately was to the main Skyrim page, but all I've done is simply add some trope entries. Please may I edit again? I have only been making constructive edits and I would like to continue to contribute.

Listen to your convictions, even if they seem absurd to your reason.Heart, you were Edit Warring a piece of Natter about the Redguards. That's against the rules and you should know it.
portal2000, I'm sorry for being abrupt with you. As I said above to moleman, "wanting to edit" is not sufficient. You need to observe proper grammar and style rules. I'm not going to let you edit unless you demonstrate the ability to edit according to the standards we require.
Tsunde Ray: So this was just an aberration? You got mad and took it out on a page, complete with This Troper and such?

AUS, I've got a note that some of your old edits were tagged with the reason "edit wars are cool". The ban was a preemptive strike against the possibility that you actually feel that way. Do you?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I am very sorry about that. I honestly did not think what I wanted to add was "natter", it was a genuine piece of game lore I think related to a trope, it wasn't any sort of personal comment or conversation on the main page (at least I did not mean for it to seem that way) but if it was not allowed, I apologize. (I tried to reword to make sense of what I was trying to get across but I guess I did not do a very good job of that, I am sorry)

Listen to your convictions, even if they seem absurd to your reason. If you ever have to add a third-level bullet, reconsider. That's been a cardinal rule of the wiki for a long time. Additional bullets should never "elaborate on" an example. If what you have to say changes or corrects something about the entry above it, try to incorporate it into the example. If it justifies it somehow, then reconsider whether it's necessary at all. Above all else, keep the examples short and sweet.
Now, I haven't been over to the Skyrim article (too busy playing the game). I find that pages, left to themselves, tend to accumulate natter. There may be lots of other examples that suffer from this problem, but that doesn't excuse adding more.
Understand?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"To Fighteer: Yes, I promise I will. However, can I put YMMV tropes on the normal page if I make an article for my own work? Because it would be Word of God.
No. In fact, its probably a good idea to avoid anything YMMV for pages related to your own works.
I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be than me.Okay then. Can I have editing privilages back then?
I should be clear that I did not ever gripe about the staff/way the wiki is run in any actual articles - but rather in a discussion page for a then recently locked article, nor did I curse ('cept for the word "hell"). Still not appropriate at all, but I'd like to make the distinction.
But yes, I'm over it and simply want to edit and create articles again. I've always been sure to follow the rules when editing articles, using proper grammar and spelling, creating little Natter, and leaving out vitriol (whatever or whomever it's related to; for instance, if I have any lengthy criticism of the site, I certainly wouldn't put it in an article). Were you to let me back, it most certainly wouldn't be condoning what I did, and while I still may uphold a few of the beliefs I had, they aren't anything I would be espousing freely on the wiki, and it should be clear that there are consequences for doing so.
Little fish, big fish, swimmin' in the water, come back here and give me my daughter...Alright, Hammerhead. We'll give you a try again, on the wiki.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyHello, I am Robinsonaustin. I received a notice that said that I was banned. You see him/her, I was having a rough day, and I was getting into trouble with the other tropers. I was on the Complete Monster page for Cartoon Network, and you see, I posted Family Guy on the list of monstrous characters. However, I forgot that Family Guy was owned by FOX instead of CN. And because of this, I feel remorseful for removing other pieces of information on other pages. I would like to edit again, please.
Why was the Nome King taken off of the list? Was he not malicious enough?"Simply" erasing the entire page!?
Page blanking is our #1 no-no. On top of that, you drag in notoriety? You just do not get it, or you do get it and are trolling.
bye bye
