I think people will think it is part of that series. The American marketing seems to imply it as such.

[up] x5 & x3: That quote you quoted seemed to imply just the opposite. Pooh can be enjoyed by everyone, though I'm not going to imply kids aren't the primary target.

No self respecting parent is going to take their kids to see harry potter, so Disney's being kinda smart here. Harry Potter will make people flock to the theater, and Pooh will be there for their kids.

Well, some parents wouldn't take their kids to see Rango because some of the characters smoked. However, a lot of those same parents took kids to see Alvin and the Chipmunks, a movie were someone eats shit.

Tangled managed to beat Mega Mind didn't it? So there might be a chance that there are adults who are aware that the final HP movie might scare their kids. So we might have a chance on parents seeing pooh with their kids. However, if they see Potter over this. Not only will that show bad parenting on certain aspects of of kids being scared for life. But adults just don't care about 2D animation.

Heck I am going to see pooh over Harry potter thank you.

This is like the opposite of Opinion Myopia going on in here. Yes, I know that not everyone cares about Harry Potter. Yes, I know that there are even quite a few tropers that don't care about Harry Potter. Maybe even the majority of people in the world don't care about Harry Potter. But to deny that it's a BIG THING is just plain fucktarded. Disney dun goofed.

At first I didn't realize I needed all this stuff...

I used to be a fan of Harry Potter, but I changed my mind about it after how many more of it would happen. And the fanbase of it is just worst than Twilight's fanbase. Ugggh.

I don't think it's that people don't care about Harry Pitter, but they're just trying to be optimistic for the new Pooh film. Both films have their own enormous fanbases and are both going to hopefully open big.

Someone on the previous page hypothesized Pooh would come just slightly behind Harry Potter on opening weekend, and I'm hoping that's at least the scenario for Disney.

If I remember right, the pooh movies that were released for the cinemas didn't do so well box office wise?

so if you take your kid(s) to see Harry Potter you're a bad parent, that's silly, do we need to mollycoddle kids more than we already do, hell given how many kids have already read/seen and enjoyed the HP franchise and the last couple weren't exactly all sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, I can't see where you're coming from

I want Winnie the Pooh to do well because otherwise we might not see a lot more traditionally animated Disney films and it's a film I'm looking forward to, but It's a tough ask when it's up against Harry Potter

[up][up]Not sure about the other two but Tigger Movie was a financial success, with a total gross profit of 9.6 million from a 30 million budget.

[up]x2. Well if you were a parent that was doing the right thing would you take your kid(meaning by the age of 7 or even 9) to see a Pg13 movie over a kids movie that is suitable? I know I would check out the potter movie beforehand if I was going to take my kid to it, but if it was something that they would be scared of I wouldn't take them to see it. I dont have kids, but I'm just saying. I am aware that nothing is all happy and stuff but heck If they can sit through it. Then I'm fine with it, if not I'm going to wait until they reach the proper age to watch it.

[up][up]You make it sound like it bombed. You sure you didn't mean "profit" instead of "revenue?"

"...after how many more of it would happen."

More of what? The movies? The books?

I very much loved the books and was the only book series in my life that I read, unabridged, from beginning to end. That and Twilight to me are like night and day! The only reason there were so many Harry Potter movies was because there was THAT NUMBER of books, and Rowling intended for it to last that long.

Given the increasing grimdarkness of the Harry Potter books, I would not take a 7-9 year-old to see the last movie without having seen it myself first. I wouldn't go so far as to make a blanket declaration that any parent who did so was a bad parent, though.

Let's return to good things about the movie: Zooey Deschanel is singing the theme music.

Never really listened to anything by She and Him but Zooey has a nice voice for the Pooh theme. About time Tigger got mentioned in the song too!

Anyway, female best cover version IMO is Carly Simon.
