Yes, I love trains and there are still some heritage lines around.
The first class on Virgin trains is also very good... though the standard class smells of toilets, I blame the ventilation.

Does anyone else think trolleys and passenger trains were among the greatest aesthetic accomplishments of industrialization?
Just look at this old timey trolley
◊ winding through Victorian architecture in Christchurch, New Zealand. I wish it was the norm for cities to be built around such things rather than around cars.
Then there were passenger trains, which made long-distance travel an elegant and convenient adventure. With sleeping cars and a dining car
◊, you could make a journey up to 15 hours away from home as an overnight trip with dinner at the beginning and breakfast at the end. Try that on the interstate system. There would be no comparison in pleasure and elegance.
