~Darkflamewolf, I never actually realized that you had a creator page.
It's actually kind of interesting to see a genuine content creator on this thread.
Trope Editor (he/him)Does anybody else think that in the furry community, artists are encouraged to draw explicit or otherwise sexual art, even if that isn't their main subject? To me, it seems like furry artists who haven't drawn such art at least once are a rare occurrence. Does anyone else feel the same?
Trope Editor (he/him)I can completely understand the encouragement. Sex sells, so they say. I am considering taking commissions for things like that for money once I turn eighteen, especially to help pay for my education and other things I'd like.
But, of course, I don't want to make it too pornographic. That sort of shit makes me uncomfortable.
she/her/they | wall | sandboxMy stance on sex and yiff in furry art is this:
Some of it I do for fun, because that's what it is: fun. However, I do not do it for exploitation, on either side of the fence - my character or theirs. Furthermore, I have a bunch of other SFW art to back up my characters to make them more well-rounded people. The sexual pics merely accentuate who they are as a person. We're all sexual beings, furry characters included, so I'm just giving a voice to the fact that yes, my characters do have sex. They do have wants and needs too. To ignore that they do these things or want these things would be doing them an injustice as characters. They're people too, just like anyone else. So I commission pieces to highlight this aspect of them, alongside all the other SFW stuff I do with them. However, I do make a distinction between 'fun' art and 'canon' art with regards to these topics, because I feel it is important to make that distinction for viewers so they're not confused as to what is real to the character.
Did any of that make sense?
Yes, it made perfect sense.
I don't think it's honestly great to exploit my characters, and I certainly am now more squeamish about them being exploited... Liz is only seventeen, and Autumn's adulthood is kind of marked by the loss of her hand.
But there are perverts regardless that would take any chance to sexualize them to far greater extents than I ever would. It comes with having a furry work.

Yeah, I know the moment I release my book(s) publicly and my characters are out in the public media space, there is no stopping the internet. So I've just geared up my mental state and realize this is simply part of the price of wanting to get my characters out there in any meaningful way. Praise the art and investment I like, ignore what I don't.
Yeah. I think it'd just be downright wrong to exploit furry characters from a family film, let alone one who is not even at the age of consent yet.
Of course, the only one with an established age in the work is literally Autumn, considering it starts on her eighteenth birthday. Liz and Jake are presumed to be in the high school senior range, I guess. So I'd invoke Death of the Author, but it doesn't mean the Author won't be creeped out at least a teeny bit.
Also, despite Eco being 80 in Meletian yearsnote , this only equates to about 17 ½ in Earth years.

On that note, if furries did wear winter clothes, would they have to wear some sort of tail-stocking to keep their tail warm? This would probably look rather silly (which is probably why I haven't seen any art of such a thing), but it would make logical sense.

Honestly, there are some times where it looks better and others where it looks like it'd get in the way, so for now I guess I might keep their tails on.
