Sometimes you like weird games, and that's how it goes. I'm still not certain why I like The Legend Of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon so much.
The game rental place close to me closed down. :( Now I need to go elsewhere for a game rental...
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~Madrugada^^ It's good, in your apparent opinion. What's there to not understaaand?
Experience has taught me to investigate anything that glows. What he can't understand is how Sonic Unleashed can be so good while Sonic The Hedgehog 2006 is so bad.
the future we had hoped forYeah.
Don't worry Komodin! I don't hate it at all.
Now: Is anyone interested in helping me test a stupid B-game I'm doing? It probably needs a few more testers. Testers are good.
Anyway, don't get your hopes up, I'm mostly doing this for fun. PM me if you're interested, but I probably won't get back to you until tommorrow.
I wish more places rented DS games. The local rental joint up in College Town did, but I don't think anywhere down here does. :<

.
It's little touches like that that makes Valve such a unique company.
READ THIS COMIC. | Read along as I play through my games collection!I think it's hilarious (and brilliant) that Red Dead Redemption has caused the creation of a group poker night. Finally.
I wrote about a fish turning into the moon....is there a hilarious context story to that, Zephid?
READ THIS COMIC. | Read along as I play through my games collection!Thinking about it, I've realized that I actually like Super Mario Galaxy a lot less than its formerly two siblings. Haven't tried the sequel yet, but I enjoyed Sunshine more. I think it's because I find Galaxy too claustrophobic and restrictive. You'd think you'd have a lot more freedom out in frickin' space, but your path is nearly always predetermined, there's not much to stray off and explore, and you basically have to go where the stars tell you to. The controls are just a little funny, too.
Is Galaxy 2 an improvement? I've heard the worlds were bigger and more freely... er, explore-able (which I'll admit can be a deal breaker with me), but I don't know.
I feel like I'm one of the weirdos in preferring Sunshine.
I will say, however, that of all the things in the game I've experienced Hype Backlash for, the soundtrack does manage to be as epic as everyone says it is. Bowser battle theme = Audio Erotica.

"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaI finally bought New Super Mario Bros Wii the other day and I am really awful at it. I was bad enough for the game to suggest that I use the super guide thing. Fortunately, I was able to finish the level on my own. I am really behind in games right now seeing as I have never actually played Spirit Tracks or Super Mario Galaxy 2, let alone the first Super Mario Galaxy.
"irhgT nm0w tehre might b ea lotof th1nmgs i dont udarstannd, ubt oim ujst goinjg to keepfollowing this pazth i belieove iN !!!!!1 dHigh ho, high ho, to finishing old stuff in Scribblenauts I go!
I'm rather proud of that one solution. Heh.
"Proto-Indo-European makes the damnedest words related. It's great. It's the Kevin Bacon of etymology." ~MadrugadaAm I the only one here who thinks that Fallout 3 is slightly unfinished? (FYI, yes I've recently gone back to it. Still So Cool Its Awesome, but, well... Just read my rant.) Number 1: No ending. Not even the trope "No Ending", just literally no ending. You're forced to wander the Wasteland for all eternity. Number 2, and maybe this is because I've played Mass Effect, but I still feel the need to mention it: No romance system whatsoever. It could have provided a true ending to the game for those that have Broken Steel(like myself; GOTY Edition here), and Amata would have been less of a wasted plot. Oh, and on the subject of the lovely Miss Almodovar, number three, and a bit of a tangent: I think Bethesda intended the Lone Wanderer to be male and good aligned, since her name is similar to the Latin word for love. Interesting, no?
Anyways, just wanted to get that out of my system. What are your thoughts on these matters, tropers?
I am a proud member of the Western Federation's Anti-Japan Media Task Force. My work is very important.Number 1: I can't say. I got discouraged after the incident where I got stuck on Mothership Zeta and never finished the game, forced to wander the same room of the ship for all eternity.
Number 2: That's a design decision, not a missing feature. I don't consider it a flaw for the same reason I don't consider the fact that Mass Effect (to expand upon your example) doesn't have anything like VATS a flaw. (The first one does have some degree of assisted targeting, but that's neither here nor there.)
Number 3: Probably. "Male" and "good" seem to be the default choices in every game like this. When was the last time you saw an evil PC be the "right" choice?
So, about the prospects of possible Fallout 3 romances, I was thinking that Sonora Cruz
might be a pretty good choice for a good-aligned male Lone Wanderer... Until I reread the article about her at The Vault
and found out that she's thirty-five. Now here's the thing: Nowhere does anyone mention, either in-universe or out, whether she's already in a relationship or not, unlike Reilly
and Butcher
, who are explicitly stated to be together. This brings up a few interesting questions(especially to me, since SonoraXGood, Male!Lone Wanderer is my Fallout 3 OTP, and will remain so unless I find out that Sonora's already taken): What exactly is her relationship status? Has she ever been with anyone? I do have my ideas of course, but that'll come later. I know this is a minor detail, but if Fallout 3 had a romance system, well, it wouldn't be so minor, would it?
Anyways, I was wondering: Did Sonora found the Regulators as an overly elaborate plot to find a husband? Two scenarios I came up with make this the case: 1) She's never been married, or possibly, in any kind of significant relationship, and thus falls under Christmas Cake to some degree; or 2) she married once, but her first husband was killed by Raiders or taken to the Pitt by Slavers, and founded the Regulators in an attempt to either take him back or get revenge, then left it open to try to bring law and order to the lawless Capital Wastelands. Anyways, didn't feel like putting this on WMG simply because I don't know which is more likely. Besides, fuel for a good debate, right?
