They just mentioned the gear the Viera wear is their race specific gear
XIV's a lot more even about skimpy outfits for dudes but I really doubt male Viera would wear that, or that they don't have any male models or even concept art ready.
Man, if only we had gender-specific race starter gear already - oh wait
we still got 5 months
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaThey dropped a hint that the art panel may have something, so that'd be what to look out for, in that case presumably they just weren't ready for an in-game model presentation.
He also mentioned that Viera were likely to be the last playable race in XIV, which is odd.
I did get my hopes up that we were getting Bangaa too.

bangaa would have taken significantly more work than viera, so i dont know why people were expecting it
"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaThey mentioned new tech for the helmets being implemented to accommodate their ears. I'm not getting my hopes up for anything that isn't just another animal eared human but I guess that could help, and the leak's been pretty airtight so far.
Lore on Viera males, for those who wanna read.
Edit: Ah, damn, can't link Discord links.

So discussing other things because we'll know more about Viera in march and the lack of presentation of males has quickly turned toxic everywhere else.
Something the trailer making people suspicious is the way Yoshida and Koji kept saying so agonizingly specifically that Y'shtola looked like a black mage it's set off red flags or it's a big red herring. We might have seen another new job then and there and the staff was meant to be a throw-off. Since she's obviously not a dancer, maybe we'll get Mystic? Necromancer?
She was just straight up a Black M Age in the trust demo.
So what's the status on male Viera? Some are saying nothing was said and a friend of mine says they weren't ready to present on time.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I wanted to link some lore that states that male vieras exist, but it's a Discord link so sadly I can't do it. D:
Lore wise yes they exist. Will we get to play them? They where pretty cagey.
At present they don't seem to be acknowledging or addressing the issue at all. We were only shown female Viera in any capacity.
Of course they showed literally one viera face with varying hair at varying heights so far so they might just be in progress.
They either want to keep trolling us or they weren't ready, there's no reason they wouldn't outright say they're a one-gender race unless they wanted to keep leading people on (and as much as they like trolling their playerbase, they're aware of things that would cause Internet Backdraft), so I'll go with the angle they're still a concept and not a ready-to-go model yet.
The only other real thing that could happen is if they're are going to surprise us with Ronso and that's going to be our male-only counterpart, which would be just as odd since we saw female Ronso in X.

Even with Ronso as a male only counterpart, it'd still piss people off because now you have people that want both female Ronso and male Viera. Not to mention that female Ronso aren't stated to be rare in the FFX lore.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.XIV's cameos and references to the other FF's are similar except where it's convenient not to be, like Unei and Doga being young and pretty as opposed to elderly as they were in III, or Roeg's and Miqo'te having both genders when Mithra and Galka didn't in XI.
So if that's the route they wanna go they can. No one plays female Roegadyn so it's not like a big, burly female beast race is in any kind of demand.

Except it will be in demand because people want it before dropping it. Devs aren't going to win this gender lock war.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. They weren't going to win with Blue Mage either but they did what they did.
But think on this; why would previous gender locked races in 1.0 have both genders later on, only for the devs to make a new race that's also gender locked? It doesn't make any sense and they can't use "lore" as an excuse either because man cats were basically male viera in all but name.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.Theres also the fact Ivalice history as part of XIV is different on a number of accounts. Like Tactics taking place before XII
Hell we dont even know why the Ascians take the names of the Light Countperarts to the Espers.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Speaking of Ronso, though, where'd that even come from? I've heard people crying for Viera since day one, but I don't think I've ever seen a single person bring up the Ronso as a playable race of choice in XIV. Kimahri isn't anywhere near as popular as any other playable character in X, either.
FFX is the one game they have touched the least in XIV as well. Dalmasca has been name dropped since ARR too.
Maybe, they outright drop that males exist in the various dumps you can ask the NPC in the Ivalice airship though.
Not to mention Yoshida is on record as hating one-gender races, one of his first decisions with character customization was male Miqo and Female Roe.
