Wow, talk about a Wham Episode. Best one in quite a while.
Though I just have to say it: Jessica, you've just been through a weird kidnapping experience and you're in a tunnel in the middle of the woods alone with a complete stranger with a GUN. TURNING YOUR BACK ON HIM is not the best idea, now matter how friendly he might seem.
And why did Alex take THAT LONG to aim his gun? Or was he WAITING for her to turn around because he's too "cavalier" to shoot an unarmed woman in the back?

Alex is Coo Coo for Cocoa puffs at this point... anything her rambles about probably is just his breaking brain trying to justify his actions to himself.
This is an outrage against Luminara!Unless I've forgotten something, I don't think that Alex was planning to kill her at first. As I recall, Alex tried to lie to Jessica in order to keep her out of this whole mess. Then, Jay stole her number from Alex, called her up, and got her involved. It's only after then that Alex made any attempts on her life.
Say what you will about Alex, but he's been pretty consistent about how he wouldn't have felt the need to kill her if Jay hadn't been stupid enough to bring her into the fold.

Because he's being irrational, and isn't a card carrying villain. He's desperate and a little cracked, so he feels the need to justify himself. So what if she's going to die? His conscience still requires him to pin the blame on somebody else, because who wants to feel like the bad guy?
Or, if you prefer, it's a way for the writer to let us know more about what's going on in Alex's head. He said it because the writer wanted us to know how he justified it to himself.

Jay is too far gone, Tim is in control of the channel now. Maybe now we'll get some progress.
