"Well, if that's all, let's take a short break for lunch, after we return, we'll do some more practice using and expanding upon methods for dealing with AMF's," Nanoha cconcluded the brief lecture. "Everyone's dismissed until 1400. Try not to eat too much, we can't have you feeling sluggish during training after all."
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listHyundai sat at a table with his fellow Ghost team forwards for lunch. The Stars and Lightning team sat at another table beside them. He had gotten to know everyone relatively well and had started to feel comfortable around them. Gulping down some food, Hyundai stated to the other Ghost team forwards, "Nanoha-san's training is really difficult. I heard it was pretty harsh but I'm completely out of energy."
Hyundai nodded with mixed emotions. He was extremely proud of Caro for doing so well in the first mock battle, but at the same time was disappointed at himself for failing to meet his own standards.
As Hyundai stood up to put away his plates, the idea bulb above his head lit up. "Hey guys, let's make a promise," he said, putting his hand forward palm down, indicating for the others to put theirs on top of his. "I may have a weak body, but I promise that I will work hard so we can be just as good as the Stars and Lightning team."
Nanoha was outside early, setting up the training area, waiting for the forwards to assemble. She hummed to herself contentedly while typing at a console. A few moments later, Nanoha turned as she heard footsteps coming up from behind her.
"Good Morning!" Supreria called out from a distance, waving her arms high in the air. "Temporary Instructional Aides Supreria Marron and Signum-chan, reporting for—"
"I told you not to call me that," Signum swiftly reprimanded.
"But Signum-chan..."
"Captain Takamachi, we're here to assist as requested," Signum reported. In addition to Laevatein, Signum was carrying a sword-like training device used for Modern Belkan instruction.
"You two seem to be getting along as nicely as ever," Nanoha said honestly as she turned around.
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listErio waited for the others outside the dorms so they could go to the training area. He killed time by doing squats in front of the building with Strada lying beside him. His muscles were still a bit sore after the previous day's training, but the pain wasn't noticable if he didn't pay attention to it.
A few minutes later, Caro came over on her own. "Erio-kun, Hyundai-san came down with a fever." Hyundai had his own room to himself because of the yet not fully understood problems his subconscious barriers presented. Caro checked up on him as a habit and it turned out he did in fact was sick. "I don't think he'll be able to train with us today."
Nanoha shook her head from side to side. "Not at all, you're actually the first one here this morning," Nanoha greeted in her usual demeanor.
In the distance, Teana and Subaru seemed to be exiting the main building.
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime list"That's fine as long as he's really not feeling well. Pushing yourself to hard can be dangerious. Have you let Shamal know yet?" Nanoha asked as she began brining up the infirmary herself on one of the displays she was working with.
"Good Morning!" Subaru called out as she and Teana walked over. "Eh? What's up, Caro, you look worried about something?"
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime list"I haven't told her yet. I'm a bit concerned about Hyundai-san but it happens quite often to him." Caro looked a bit downcast but didn't seem too worried. Hyundai had a naturally weak body and was prone to sickness. The previous day's sudden overexertion may have been too much.
As Teana and Subaru came, Erio answered. "Hyundai-san's sick today and can't come."
Elena leaved her room running.
She couldn't believe that sh had overslept on her second day of training. Actually, she couldn't believe she had overslept at all.
The embarrassed teenager then hurried outside as fast as she could until she saw Captain Nanoha and the rest of the forwards already asembled.
"I'm sorry for my lateness, Captain Takamachi"
"If he's sick often, we ought to give him a full examination," Nanoha answered, "Ah, Shamal."
Shamal had clearly only woken up a short while ago, and stifled a yawn when she realized someone was watching. "Nanoha-chan, what's up so early in the morning?"
"Caro said that Hyundai isn't feeling well, so we figured we should let you know. She also said this happens often, so it might be worth going through his records and giving him a full checkup."
"Roger that! I'll make sure to get on it as soon as I can."
"Thanks."
"It's fine, it is my job after all. I have to make sure all of Division Six is fighting-fit. I'll give you a call later and tell what's going on. Until then." Shamal smiled as her face dissappeared from the moniter. Nanoha then turned to answer Wilbur's question.
"Hmm, well, Stars' and Lightning's scheduled activites won't be changed that much. Originally, I wanted you and Hyundai to have a mock battle with Supreria. Let's see..." Nanoha stopped and thought for a moment. "If it's alright with you and Supreria, then how about a one-on-one shooting duel? Your skill sets and specialties are rather similar," Nanoha turned to Supreria, "How about we get a full analysis on Wilbur's technique?"
Supreria stood swiftly at attention, giving an overly-serious salute, "Yes Captain! You may leave it to me!" Her tone was serious to the point of being almost mocking. "Supreria Marron, proceeding with technical examination. Wilbur, follow me!" Supreria began marching off in a somewhat comic fashion.
Signum stepped towards Elena, "You're not really late, more that everyone else is early. Today's plan was for me to work with you on the basics of Belkan magic. Captain Takamachi has marked off an area on in the training facility for us to work one on one in. If you have no questions, we can proceed there now."
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime listSignum lead the way to a simulated forest clearing. She turned to face Elena. "Here, use this," Signum said, tossing the training sword she had been carrying towards Elena. "It's not exactly of high quality, but it has a Belkan Cartridge system, which is something you'll need to get used to." Signum removed several cartridges from her pocket, and held them out to Elena. "Put these in the slot near the hilt. The command for lactivating a cartridge is preset as 'Cartridge Load.' Try it when you're ready."
"Let's see, this should be far enough for now," Supreria said after the pair had walked for a bit. "Okay, let's go, Weiss-chan." What had been a small white ornament with bat wings quickly morphed into a rifle, with a barrier jacket swiftly following suit. Supreria flew up a few meters into the sky, towards the familiar cityscape from yesterday. "Let's get a good distance over the city before we start, shall we?" Supreria asked, waiting for Wilbur to catch up.
Fear the Gothilolions! | Anime list"Understood Madam" Elena said cathing the training sword and taking a few seconds to inspect it. Carefully, the girl inserted the cartridges into the slot trying to get used to motion. In real battle she would need to load them as a reflex.
"Alright, I'll try it now" Elena said, holding her sword in both hands "Cartridge Load"
"How does it feel?" Signum asked. The rush of magic would probably be a new experience for Elena, and was something any Belkan practitioner would need to get used to.
"This should be good," Supreria said, reaching a location a good height above the tops of the buildings. In the distance, the sound of combat marked the start of Stars' and Lightning's morning training. "We'll start around here, fly away in any direction want, until you're at a comfortable range. Let me know when you're ready, 'kay?"

"Thank you very much, Captain Nakamachi" Elena said to Nanoha's reserving judgement on her actions. Her methods were certainly reckless... but this was the path that Elena wished to thread.
Even so... she couldn't help but feel bad about her performance. While they did defeat the drones it was quite a crude performance against the clever solutions that team Lighting and Stars employed.
