Frog: I live in Southington and just commute there.
For junior and senior year I'll have to move to Storrs, though, because I can't complete my Bio major in Hartford.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.@Hungry Joe: It gives you some sense of pride to see so many famous people from your university that it merits a Wikipedia page, doesn't it? (not that it ensures my fame or anything like that, unfortunately
)
I don't recognize any names on this list.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.Well, I doubt anyone would recognize anyone on this list.
Well, maybe. There's a few names that some people may recognize. Not a whole lot, but a few.
@Anne: Ah, I see. Not to seem creepy or anything, but since Joe is also from this general part of Connecticut (Right? Or am I getting your area wrong, man? Eh? Surely you're seeing this post.) we really should consider a mini-Tropermeet when we're all not busy with school.
Jumping on the Wikipedia bandwagon...go ahead and see, but I doubt you'll find anyone too famous.
Except for the ones I already listed.
I'm from Norwalk, that's down on the coast in Fairfield county. (By the way, there's a Web Comic Convention happening there in October. [1]
I kind of doubt I'd be able to slink away from my Grandfather's house up in Farmington during a visit.
I'm presently in Pittsburgh, so when I go home for breaks I fly. I don't know how much I will be able to do things during that time, Thanksgiving's a write-off. I dunno about Winter, Spring break, etc.
Maybe during the summer, but I'll to fight my sister for the car now.
Charlie Tunoku is a lover and a fighter.I live in Southington. My school is in West Hartford.
It takes me about a half hour to get to or from school on a good day.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.Just saying, to both of you, West Hartford actually has some awesome places for just hanging out. Namely Blue Back Square, which has multiple food options and Barnes and Noble. And also the library, for what that's worth. (You may know this already, I have no idea...)
And, uh, yeah, forgot about the Norwalk. I think I was remembering you had contact with Farmington, but that wasn't very helpful because I forgot the context. We should perhaps seek out a certain GMH, it seems like he was somewhere in Hartford county during the whole hurricane thing, at least...
(Should this have its own thread or something?...)

Flora Segunda | World Made By Hand | Monster Blood Tattoo ^You should read these series.I follow the policy of always having at least one friend with me when I meet somebody I know from the internet for the first time, which may make things a little difficult because none of my really close friends have any reason to go to West Hartford.

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.I was going to say the same thing, and I have a friend who goes to University of Hartford but is actually from Tolland of all places, a lot closer to Storrs. But doesn't mind driving all that distance. And seems to really love West Hartford center, mostly I think because her sister went to Kingswood-Oxford right behind it.
To be honest, I'd mostly do that to make my parents more comfortable, since I am 99.9% certain that there'd be no risk to this. So cool, it'll be a pretty sizeable group, by which I mean at least four. Ok, that's not actually that big, but whatever.
Winter break would be the best time, I don't really have much leeway around Thanksgiving.
And um yes, right, the problem described there...well, I would semi-jokingly argue that a person doesn't really need much of a reason to go because good food that's a break from the norm is always a reason to go somewhere in my opinion. But that's just me. And being presumptuous about other people's friends isn't very nice.

Flora Segunda | World Made By Hand | Monster Blood Tattoo ^You should read these series.My friends have little to no taste in food.
Then again, Amy will drive all the way to Berlin for Burger King just because she's too lazy to make her own lunch (even though there's a grocery store only a couple streets away), so who knows?

Banned entirely for telling FE that he was being rude and not contributing to the discussion. I shall watch down from the goon heavens.I've heard that a bunch of extracurriculars done mostly in your senior year sends up a red flag to colleges, but I haven't actually heard of anyone getting rejected because of lack of extracurriculars or because a college was suspicious.
I think as long as you have things to include on a resume or transcript, it shouldn't be too bad.

byeWhoops, I meant sophomore year. *fixes*
The problem is, I was out of school most of my sophomore year with big anxieties and depression. My grades were fine that year, but I didn't do a single extracurricular. And I only did one in my freshman year: Cartooning Club. Which isn't exactly spectacular. This year I plan to join Key Club, Peer Tutors, and French Club, but I don't know if it'll be enough.
well, maybe you should just drink a lot less coffee, and never ever watch the ten o'clock news.I will just say that if you happen to have excellent grades and are confident that your essay and other stuff they asked you to write is good, then extracurriculars, while important, are not the most important thing, and don't have to be super-abundant.
Most people don't have the grades to pull that off, though, and/or are not so stupidly limited that they never embraced and enjoyed a large amount of extracurriculars....obviously I'm only really any good at giving advice from experience, and my college application experience was kind of unusual.
OOPS: I think I've been ninja'd...that will definitely be enough.

Flora Segunda | World Made By Hand | Monster Blood Tattoo ^You should read these series.All right, thanks. :) Though I don't have the most rigorous classes (that is, not 100% or even 50% AP), I do have a tough schedule, so as long as I persevere it should be good.
I'm hoping to apply to places like Johns Hopkins, Amherst, and Tufts, which is why I'm especially nervous. >>;

Ah, ok, so where are you living then? Just curious...I always did figure it was mostly a commuter school, is that what you're doing?
