So I decided to create this to go with the homework and the like thread.

My machine has a slightly corrupted hd. I'm trying to run chkdsk but it won't run cause I'm using the disk. How do I get the little turd monkey to run properly?

I'm getting a laptop for my little brother. Are there any brands I should avoid?

By the Gods, there is certainly an amount of tech avoidance on this website!

I, and many others, personally advocate the buying of ASUS laptops. This advice coming quite a bit too late, though.

I'm starting to learn that this isn't the sort of site to have tech help questions of any sort. People will conveniently ignore you.

The thread isn't stickied. If it was, it would probably get more attention. Plus it's full of artists rather than people who know how computers work.

I've been having a big problem with my computer. Here's what it does:

  • Either it freezes the screen forcing a restart
  • Reboots on its own
  • Shuts down the monitor
  • Shuts down monitor saying it is 'out of range'

Any tips?

Windows Media Player has encountered a problem. Whenever I try to play DV Ds on Windows Media player, I get an error message a second after starting it up and it closes automatically.

Here are screenshots of what happens.

My advice would be "get Media Player Classic" or "get VLC".

So, on the off chance that anyone here has played it, how do you get Neftelia to work without crashing whenever you interact with certain things?

Can anyone help me with Fraps? I'm trying to use it to take screenshots for a Let's Play (and it's worked fine for this before-albeit on a different computer with a different game) and it's not giving me any error messages or anything, but it just won't take screenshots. It acts like it's working, but no matter how many times I try to change the screenshot hotkey and then spam it inside the game, no screenshots appear in the folder. I get the feeling I'm just doing something incredibly stupid and the answer is right under my nose, but damned if I can figure out what it is.

So hay

Typing this on my phone because I keep getting a presumably fake proxy error everyt time I try to go online.

Safe mode fixes nothing.

What should I do? Superantispyware hasn't found anything, and I'm completely cut off from the internet.

Okay, system restore to two days ago was the only thing I could think of that would work, and it did.

I lost a game but as far as I can tell, that's all.

I'm just glad Sandstone is working again.

Pro Tip: If you want to download Yume 2kki don't use the link on the Madotsuki's Closet website. Evidently, it's got a trojan in it.

Reviving this for relevant title.

Okay, for YEARS now the wireless router box in my house has been unreliable. Every so often, it just stops working for an hour or two, only to be perfectly fine afterwards. It seems to vent well, andIs fairly recently constructed. What gives?

See if there's updated firmware for it. Follow the steps, flash the ROM, see if it helps. If there's not an update or you brick your router or it doesn't help anyway, might look into getting another router.

It's not Thread Necromancy if the last post was a month ago, right?

So, my Win 7 machine is hanging at the welcome screen. The circle keeps going and going and going; it only works in safe mode. After diligent searching and a couple of unsuccessful restores, I found a patch, but installing it (while in Safe Mode) did nothing. Any thoughts, before I take it to someone and possibly lose my computer entirely for a week?

....Is Thread Necromancy a bad thing?

I got a new monitor that should be HDCP compliant. But the PS 4 gives a black screen with sound with HDCP on. However, the PS 3 DOES work, even when playing a Blu Ray or Netflix (they require HDCP).

Anyone have any ideas before I return the monitor? I'm afraid to as I think I marked the screen while setting up like an idiot and they may get out of refunding me based on that.

Okay seriously? I don't even care its thread necromancy I'm this overwhelmingly annoyed.

I'm on Google Chrome on my laptop, and every single time I click out of a tab to another tab, the fucker refreshes. I can't even have music running with this setting in place. I am this close to literally smashing my computer to pieces in a rage.

Someone more tech savvy please, please tell me how to disable this useless function.
