Did anyone else find Monarch's Hanibal Lecture to captain sunshine in season 4 a little too creepy. It ispired [[Watchmen]] levels of fear and terror in me. Definitely counts as a Crowning Moment of (High Octane) Nightmare Fuel to me.
I thought it was just entirely badass. I love when he shows real villainy and evil.
bogleech.com for my writing, comics and cartoons....and Brock Samson makes his triumphant return. Too bad season 4.2 doesn't start until summer.
I personally hypothesized that Hank is gay back in season one without any real basis. The fact that he started becoming more and more of a Ho Yay magnet after that amuses me to no end.
VB action figures, for anybody who's interested in that kinda thing.
And some stuff I've been thinking about (spoilers ahead, though presumably most people reading this thread should know them already)...
...specifically regarding some of the "mystery" parentages in the show. And no, I'm not talking about the various "Jonas Venture fucked the entire multiverse" Epileptic Trees.
One thing that bugs me is the way so many fans refuse to even consider the possibility that Myra is Hank and Dean's mother or that Brock is Dermott's father. The former is admittedly ambiguous, but I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that she's probably their mom (while leaving other possibilities open) until we're given evidence otherwise. I wouldn't shocked if turned out to someone else, but it wouldn't be disappointed if it was her simply on the basis of not being twisty enough.
But Dermott? His real dad isn't even a question if you ask me, and it annoys me how people keep trying to turn it into some big mystery that was probably never intended in the first place. Seriously, he's Brock's son. And if it turns that he isn't (which I seriously doubt will happen), there would have to some damn good justifications for it or else it'd just be lazy writing.
(This was one of the things on my mind when I did that thread about the "dude, where's my twist?" mentality, actually.)

Wait, who's Dermott again?

As far as Myra goes, in the most recent episode Doc Venture said (paraphrased), "Did I ever tell you boys about your mother? Or that you're both clones?" right before sending them off to the amnesia chamber. Since they had already met Myra and heard her claim to be their mother, I'm guessing Rusty must have had a different bombshell to drop right before erasing their memories.
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoHmm, I didn't really think about that. FWIW, Jackson and Doc said that even they weren't sure if she was their mom or not at the time that they wrote "I Know Why The Caged Bird Kills", and I sometimes wonder if they ever made their minds up. I do think it's interesting how the flashbacks in "The Invisible Hand Of Fate" seem to support her side of the story, though. One thing that can be certain is that whether it's revealed that she is or that she isn't, it still leaves a lot of other questions unanswered.
On the other hand, Dermott's father is pretty unambiguous, and I find the obsession with turning it into some sort of conspiracy just because "Brock being his dad is too obvious!" to be kinda silly.
On Myra being the boy's mother: For some reason, I always resisted this idea, so I was delighted to see in the last episode that it was still ambiguous. The flashback's do support her side of the story, and certainly disprove the "Hank is a clone of Brock" theory, but all the flashback really proves is that the timing is on Myra's side. (There's also the fact that, as far I we can tell, Rusty has only had sex once in his life, with Myra, but the guy is kind of a super scientists, so the boys could have come from anywhere.)
On Dermott, I can only think of one reason to believe that he is not Brock's son: The commentary for his first episode, in which Doc and Jackson complain that after the episode aired, everyone started speculating on who his mother is, rather than who his father is. There have been more suggestions that Dermott is Brock's son since then, but that bit of commentary suggests that it was supposed to be a big mystery.
Dermott is Hank's son.
On Myra, Word of God states that they would have also implied that Dr. Quymn could be the boys' mother if time had permitted.
I can see that. It seemed like they were building up to that implication anyway. Or else the implication that Rusty and Dr. Quymn were siblings.
Can't it be both?
"It takes an idiot to do cool things, that's why it's cool" - Haruhara HarukoDr. Quymn can't be the boy's mother, because Rusty states that he hasn't seen her since they were little kids. As for the sibling thing. . .Dr. Quymn's mother was clearly sleeping with Dr. Venture, Sr. (which is okay because Colonel Gentleman was clearly sleeping with pretty much every guy he could find), so it could be possible.
He could have been lying.

So, I just read the main page. And I'm now noticing for the first time that Helper is mostly out of the series.
Huh. I guess I just didn't care.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyJust saw the trailer for the new season las night. Or the seccond half of the fourth season. Or whatever they're calling it. The one on TV wasn't the full one from the website, of course. I'm wondering how much of the crazy stuff is deliberately taken out of context, like they did with the last season's (or first half of the same season's) trailer. Though there isn't quite as much of the weird stuff in this one.

Resurrecting thread (sorta) for new Venture Bros.

The Philosopher-King Paradox
Well, after spending all that time with the Sasquatch and the Six-Million Dollar Man, Brock certainly went down a couple badass levels, so Taking A Level In Badass would just be him catching up.
