So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

It looks pretty cool. The backgrounds are apparently handcrafted models.

It's iOs exclusive so...I could not be less interested. For all of Square's faults, at least they've given you the chance to play their games on multiple platforms and generations. Which I cannot say for Mistwalker's games.

Most iOS exclusives don't stay exclusive from what I understand. I think the whole diorama thing is cool and i like the high production values relative to a mobile game, but I kinda am not interested in mobile gaming for the most part so it's hard to be too excited for this.

I did see a trailer for Fantasian, and it looked boring as fuck. All the gameplay seemed to be the party dealing massive damage to huge monsters and killing them in one go. I'm pretty sure that's not how it'll actually play, but it's a good way to make your game look boring. As for the gimmick of the environments all being actual dioramas (which seemed to be the main marketing angle they were pushing), so what? If you want to show me a cool diorama, just show me a cool diorama, don't build a videogame around it.

The whole diorama thing looks like they are trying to emulate what the Bravely Default series does with it’s environments but not as good, unfortunately.

... Although that reminds me the Shumi exist. Much like the Hypello, I appreciate it when Final Fantasy throws in entire sentient species out of nowhere that have no effect on the plot.
Random though: In Ever Crisis they seem to be using some of the odder dialogue choices intentionally if "This isn't a normal reactor!" is any indication. Think we'll still have "Attack while its tail is up!", "This guy are sick.", "Let's mosey." and Aerith and Zack being a past item?

In the original game, who was talking to Cloud about how it wasn't a normal reactor, and why wasn't it a normal reactor?

The worldbuilding bits in ARR were actually one of the few interesting things about the MSQ, which otherwise dragged a lot for me. It was really interesting to have a japanese RPG (yes i get it's an mmo but still) tackle the subject of refugees and how they're subject to general disdain and xenophobic prejudice. A theme which is continued in the expansions as well.
