When I first heard this as a eighteen-year-old, I was shocked that they put that song in the game.
Memories and Lightwaves is probably one of my favorite tracks in entire franchise

Dang, that looks pretty.
The PC/mobile port of IV just got a random QoL update out of nowhere.

Phew. So I currently have a dark blue ocean crossing chocobo in FFIX. It's been a lot of work in Chocobo Hot and Cold to get to that point, but it was worth it.
My efforts actually meant something....unlike the Fiends in SMTIV or KOS-MOS in XBC2.
Have you been using the superspeed mode for Hot and Cold? It helps a whole lot.
Now to find that Chocograph treasure location out in the ocean in the MIDDLE OF FREAKING NOWHERE.
....There's a superspeed mode?
I do have my movement automatically set to run for towns and dungeons, but that's about it.
What's this about Superspeed?
Hot and Cold gives half the party their Ultimate Weapons or close enough weapons. It also nets you the Black Robe which gives you Vivi's best spell, Flare, which I think you can access as early as the start of disc 3.
Most modern version of Final Fantasy 9 have an option to make everything go extremely fast, in addition to things like turning off random encounters. (the method is shoulder buttons during the pause screen)
It is specifically super useful for Chocobo Hot and Cold because while your characters go high speed, the timer in this instance remains the same speed as normal, meaning you can cover much more ground than usual.
Oh. I'm gonna try that. Thanks.
So all you FF BE players, how good is Neo Vision Emperor Mateus?
I hear he's pretty good for a magic unit.
I mean, I like him so I'm gonna pull for him, and I have no grasp of the meta anyway, so I may not be the best source.
Whoo. I have a Golden Chocobo.
Debating if I want to continue on with the plot, or start finding Chocographs again. I have Dead Peppers, so I should be able to reach the Chocobo's Paradise as well.
That being said, I might also want to continue on with the plot. I haven't decided yet.
Where are you in the plot? More importantly, how long has it been since you've played a section of it?
Beat the 4 guardians, and have been able to head to Terra at any time.
Chose this point to deal with some Side quests.
Was going to spend some time getting my party to Level 60 (barring Zidane who's already much higher, like 65 to everyone else' 55) before I did anything else.
That's a good point to grind, yeah.
If I'm not mistaken, going to Terra is a 'point of no return' for quite a few quests and 'Forever Missable' items.
Yeah. It's very much that.
I might just go nuts and take care of every side quest I can before I head there then.
The one thing I can't do is give Steiner Auto-Regen, since I don't think any of the items that let him learn it are available until I get to Terra.
Some of the best support skills is Auto-Haste and Auto-Regen for every person who can get it when going into the final area/battles. They just completely trivialize a lot of fights. However, getting the required equipment to learn them for each character and the amount of AP needed for each is a pain.
I pretty much have Auto Haste and Auto Regen (alongside auto potion) for every character but Steiner (he's the only one without Auto-Regen).
Again, I'll have to wait a bit before I can get it it seems.
I finished FFVIII for the first time. I got as far as disc 3 when I was young and started a couple more runs after, but I always lost interest before finishing. Finally beat it though. Did everything in the game, got all the G.F., got all the Triple Triad cards, beat Lv100 Omega Weapon.
The game has a lot of issues. Outside all the battle system issues everyone knows about, the plot has issues with pacing and conveying information. It wasn't until this playthrough that I realized just how obviously unfinished the game is. There's several spots after the first disc where things play out awkwardly and it feels like they had to cobbling things together somewhat, the prison escape sequence is the most obvious. Going off outside sources there was clearly supposed to be a city and Trabia that got cut. The world-building is haphazard and requires a lot of talking to random NPCs and reading in-game info logs that most players probably don't know exist to get info on basic things. And I recently found out that it was straight up said in an interview that they originally wanted the Laguna stuff to be half the game and it got severely cut down.
Even so, when the game is good it can be really good. There's a lot of well done scenes in the game. The whole space sequence for example is great. And while the game can be really cryptic on optional content, there is a lot of charm in how many obscure, optional scenes there are, like walking back in Laguna's first sequence and seeing the traffic jam he caused, or walking through F.H. with Irvine and getting a couple scenes with him. I wish I could a see a version of VIII that had all the plot and setting issues ironed out and was given the time to develop things out more. So basically, VIII should have been the one to get a massive remake instead of VII.
I ALWAYS felt this way. VII was as fleshed out as it could be on its own merits, there wasn't a need to revisit it outside of maybe a graphical upgrade. VIII would be the one that would need a complete overhaul, story, plot, development and all, because it has the potential to be so much more than what it was.
Eyes on Me is one of the most addicting songs I've heard from this franchise. With VII and IX's world map themes, Fisherman's Horizon and Man With The Machine Gun from VIII, and the Zanarkand and Memory of Lightwaves from X and X-2 as rivals.
