If I'm not mistaken they said way back that Vincent and Yuffie would be changed a little so as to not be optional; so depending on that those two (or at least Yuffie, I can see Vincent still being in that coffin) could show up anywhere, but don't quote me on that.
And if they are making an honest effort to do Midgar justice, I have no issue at all with multiple discs/parts, that thing is insanely massive.
I mean, Vincent is sleeping in a coffin in Shinra Manor so unless they change things around (like his coffin was discovered by Shinra soildiers and moved to Shinra Tower), we probably won't see him. Yuffie can pretty much show up anywhere, so instead of her ambushing the party in a random forest in the overworld, she now shows up as a thief in the Midgar slums.
There's also the ever present possibility of them adding new party members.

I dont expect to see any more than the 4 we have seen be actual party member, if anything I expect them to ramp up the Biggs Wedge and Jessie trio.
We might potentially see some news reports about 'the great ninja Yuffie' or potentially have an optional boss fight or two vs her but there isn't really room for her to join the party right now.
As I posted before, the game being focused on the Midgar arc means that Red XIII has to be in
He is in literally right before the escape isn't he?
I mean this is an Adaptation Expansion so they could have him join the party much earlier.

If the game is Midgar and Midgar only I fully expect them to throw in some party members early. Yuffie is the obvious choice but they could conceivably squeeze in the others too if they deem it necessary. Red's Placement would make him an 11th-Hour Ranger as is, which is fine as long as there's some post-game challenge content IMHO. I am actually really excited to see what he looks like in action.
I brought that up myself.
This is true. the escape from Midgar is likely gonna happen as the games finale, so Red will need to be introduced a little earlier somehow.
Perhaps they don't escape right away, but return to Aerith's house to plan their next move?

Maybe you can still use Red XIII for New Game+?
I'd be okay with that I guess. I'd rather have something akin to the Bloody Palace though.
Oh god I can't wait to hear more of the party banter.
I suspect thatís going to be in as well, gotta find some way to insert the Genesis boss fight into the game.
This might end up being the biggest Adaptation Expansion in VG history.
Some demo impressions are coming in right now.

Those who Cloud attracts romantically suffer, universally.
Pretty much everyone suffers in that game.

That's not a joke either — Gaia did specifically create a bunch of Kaiju to kill everyone to reduce the ecological damage.
Tbf making Kaiju to solve your problems is a great idea. Just make sure they come with some magical terraforming capabilities to fix the damage as well!

I guess it's not as silly as making plants emit suicide gas.
Or going out of your way to drive people in space crazy to blow themselves up because it's her(hunter gatherer) way or the high way.
I'm a big proponent of the "Make Kaiju to solve the problem at hand" solution.
More Kaiju is always a good thing.
Speaking of the WEAPONS I wonder how the fights against them will go this time around.
I also hope the FFVIII remaster adds another Superboss. Always thought Omega Weapon was kinda "Eh." as they go. The best superbosses are always weird hints to the game's mythology. Omega was just a warped cameo from 7.

Nah, Omega Weapon's a series staple since V, much like Gilgamesh (who also debuted in V).
Heck, Omega Weapon was likely inspired somewhat by Warmech, the very first Bonus Boss in the entire franchise.

Do the WEAPONS even do much storywise? There's the one that attacks Junon (and gets blown up like an idiot), and the one that explodes Rufus, but that's all I can remember really. For the most part they just hang around the overworld waiting for Cloud et al to kick their asses.
