Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I wonder if Dissidia will keep old V As if they will continue to add new cutscenes (which they stopped doing in February).
I find it really ironic because they brought back Elijah Alexander to voice Vayne for Dissidia NT after he had done no other VA work for over 10 years. Vayne is his only VA credit.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Man, them replacing the VII cast feels even crazier now.
I... Really like the new actors so far though.
Bleye knows Sabers. The stuff with MGSV was most likely due to Konami and Kojima's falling out and the sheer amount of stuff that got cut from the game
Unless the Va's signed a contract with a time frame on it, They may have been Hired per gig
that said
While it sucks... I can almost guess that a large part of it is the VA strike from a couple of years back and well
Them wanting to do Younger versions of the characters
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!So I watched Phoenix Act's video.
I failed to consider the fact that since this first part will take place entirely in Midgar, we won't be seeing Cait Sith, Cid, Vincent or Yuffie.
The former two won't appear until at least the next game, while the latter two could show up at any time what with being totally optional.
The last character they'll reveal here is Red XIII, and he would technically show up near the end of this game since he appears just before they escape Midgar.
One Strip! One Strip! The thought I've just had is what if they actually call "Aerith" by that name in the game, unlike Advent Children where her name was never spoken. Everyone else seems okay with "Aerith" (and I believe it is actually canon), but I still think it sounds really fucking stupid, like you're just lisping 'Aeris'.
ummm
Little about that game stuck in my mind.
I checked the trailer again, and yeah, in-game interface has her as 'Aerith'.
I really do hate it so much.
Does "Sephiroth" sound like a lisp?
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.It's got to be one of the most persistent transliteration errors in gaming history.
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Well you have Sephiroth and then The Fiend of the Warring Triad, Sephirot
I guess you'll just have to stew in your rage

I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!Japanese people typically don't recast unless you did a crime or dead
And we are very fine in terms of VA quality for JP side.
x4 No, but I haven't spent years calling him 'Sephiros'.
I'll have to concede that had she been 'Aerith' from the start, I'd probably not have a problem with it ('Sephiros' doesn't sound bad either), but she wasn't, and 'Aeris' sounds better to my ears, so it bothers me.

I first saw and learned her name in KH 2 as Aerith, which sounds kinda like "earth" which is symbolic and shit since she's a Cetra. Aeris just makes me think of the Greek goddess Eris.

PSN ID: FateSeraph Congratulations! She/TheyAerith goddess of CHAOS!!!
I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!I mean, pretty much every spin-off and crossover she's shown up in since FFVII came out refer's to her as "Aerith" so there's little room for doubt at this point.
Also, SE actually put up some Turks cosplayers as "bodyguards" for the E3 demo.
GOH! JII! RAH!x3 Well it's not like any of the other mythologically-named characters and beings in FF, which includes Sephiroth, have names that make any more sense.
Acknowledged. I still don't like it stubbornly crosses arms hmph
Interestingly, The Other Wiki names Eris as a goddess of strife :P

x4 Aerith indeed is supposed to sound like "Earth" which contrasts with Cloud which makes you think sky.
I mean Sephiroth is pretty on the nose in its meaning given his relation to Jenova and what not.
How's that?
Aerith doesn't sound anything like Earth to me.
Sephirot (Singular Sephirah) in Kabbalah are a manifestation of god in the physical world. Much like how Sephiroth is Jenova's manifestation in the modern age.
It's funny cuz Sephirot is actually a boss in XIV
GOH! JII! RAH!Which comes from VI. It was apparently the official name of the Fiend Nomura used when he designed him, but that didn't find its way into the game at the time.
Though looking on the wiki it was just flat out "Sephiroth" (セフィロス or Sefirosu) even in VI's concept art, the same as the guy from VII.

Only in the most tenuous way to me, and I certainly wouldn't have made the connection on my own.
Is it official that her name is supposed to sound like 'earth'?

If you've been actively playing a character for over a decade, are known for playing that character, you might want to be given a heads up about the studio deciding they don't want you anymore instead of suddenly finding out that you don't have a paycheck anymore while watching a trailer and hearing somebody else's voice coming out of your character. We don't know what contract details the old V As had. Might be doubly annoying that they replaced the entire English cast but not the Japanese cast.
See: The drama about Netflix redubbing Evangelion; or that time Kojima replaced David Hayter as Snake out of nowhere with Keifer Sutherland, Hayter only found out when he reached out to Konami to discuss the next game, and for a shit cherry on top, almost all of Sutherland's dialogue was cut and the game had almost no cutscenes to show off his acting so what was even the fucking point besides to waste thousands of dollars?
This is an extremely unusual situation for Square Enix, some of these characters Burton and Newborn recorded lines for in just the past year or two for Dissidia. Hell, when the cast of XV was almost replaced it was made known and they were all given a fair chance to re-audition and keep their job.
