Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

The thing is though, while Stella sounded more interesting than Luna, we never actually got to see anything all that substantial about her. Given that this is Nomura I wouldn't have been surprised if it was botched, especially given certain things that happened in KH 3.
Yyyyeah no argument there. What Could Have Been is only about possibilities after all.
Still, Aranea made it out pretty well. Give someone a bit of backbone and they start writing themselves, is what I've found to occasionally be the case.
Bleye knows Sabers.Honestly Aranea makes me mad because I like her.
She had potential but there was just nothing to work with.
This song needs more love.I mean if she really hated the empire's methods why not join with the hunters at the beginning? Just seems like more wasted potential.
Mileena MadnessVerum Rex is Nomura still trying to realize that wet dream of his, so there is still hope for Stella...
Growing up, it's like a civil war, don't turn away, it's something you can't ignore...Yeah, not gonna lie, Aranea does nothing for me. She’s just kinda there.
Ardyn at least has an actual personality, and what we know of him even from the base game makes me pity the dude, he got seemingly got screwed over super hard. So I for one am actually interested in his episode.
PSN ID: FateSeraph Congratulations! She/TheyCan't beat Ardyn's voice actor man.
Mileena MadnessHe also voiced Reinhardt, Dr. Samuel Hayden, and Emperor Valkorion.
We were talking about XV's music earlier and how it was just kind of dull and generic and since getting back into XIV I'm reminded of how that game's soundtrack very much isn't.
Not only does it cover every other genre you can think of in some way or another, the composer knows how to build on leitmotifs and themes to make climatic tracks even better.
That's the spoiler free version of the Heavensward trailer who's song is more or less the musical backbone for the expansion, and is sampled in the boss theme for generic dungeons, a big climatic battle late in the story, and even in places like the main city featured as part of the expansion.
Pretty much every significant boss has two themes - something lower key or more of what you'd expect, and than a big, bombastic piece typically in a more modern style of music, with some having appropriate transitional pieces throughout. There's a decent chunk of people writing and composing music for it but I think all those tracks linked above were by the main composer, Masayoshi Soken, too.
I don't think it has a track as good as Dancing Mad or One Winged Angel, but overall (and it's kind of cheating to be fair by virtue of it constantly updating, but still) it's probably got the best FF original soundtrack. Definitely the best one to happen since Uematsu left, and that's not at all throwing shade on XII or XIII's OST's. I think they're both incredible. Just not quite as good as this one.
Don’t forget the XIV remix of Dancing Mad.
Personally my fav track is Stormblood’s dungeon boss theme.

I don't mind Quina, since he's a character that exists to give some levity to a game that has a pretty high body count in spite of the cutesy, chibi-style.
Amarant and his "But what is friendship?" stuff, though, I can do without.
On the down side, Quina has the worst limit break and their blue spells are too random for my tastes.
De Romanīs, lingua Latina gloriosa non fuī.The only unnecessary character is Eiko Carol, everyone else is acceptable
New theme music also a boxEiko at least gives Garnet a connection to her past. Amarant is just there.
Amarant is a Monk and therefore essential.
I won't allow anyone to badmouth Amarant.
His theme is awesome. That's all I need.
Edit: Seriously! Listen to this thing:
It's just smooth.

One Strip! One Strip! It is a great and underrated piece. Much like Shadow's Theme.
They have pretty much nothing in common but I always get the same vague vibe from Shadow, Vincent and Amarant. FF needs more characters in that dark loner shtick.
I don't mind a character being 'unnecessary' to the plot. Just make them interesting in some way. Amarant... isn't exactly interesting, but hey, he has his unique abilities. Quina is great all-round, even if Q pretty much has the worst Trance. ...And possibly the worst Blue Magic mechanic overall.
Although I agree with , the eating mechanic is terrible
Heart of StoneThe worst blue magic mechanic is X-2's where you just pray the enemy hits a specific character with a specific skill you want to learn.

7 had one where the enemy had to hit you with the move so you could copy it,that was pretty bad I thought
New theme music also a boxI dunno, manipulating an enemy to use a particular spell seems largely much simpler than micro-managing an enemy's health. Unless it's Tactics and you want Ultima.
Yes it is but they gave you Manipulate to make up for that problem.
There is no manipulate in X-2.

On Luna... Would it be considered worth it to try and expand her character? I mean, I guess it wouldn't be hard but...
Man, I like that they changed her name from Stella when they overhauled her character because it gives fans a easy label so they can say "I liked Stella but not Luna"
Having the main Love Interest be a antagonist and rival character in the beginning of the game would actually be pretty cool IMHO.
Bleye knows Sabers.
