I love Yoshida and the general art direction of XII but some of the design choices are kinda questionable.
Some fights you are just supposed to Cerberus it up and have your three COM's waste the trash. Having two RAV's and only one COM makes those fights take too long.
It's the same as say Firestrike vs Fire.

I said earlier that I was told it's a waste of CP to dip into new roles and that you only need each character's primary ones for the story. And it is indeed a huge drain on CP, I've tried it.
I know because I just did Barthandelus 2 and I had to turn Snow into a Synergist. I've wanted a second one for a while now to speed up the buffing process. Well, Bart's ability to instantly remove all your buffs made me realize the time had come for this. I explored other options, like maybe making Snow or Hope a Saboteur but none of what they have is useful against Bart. At least not where I could get them. So SYN Snow it was.
i remember this fight being pathetically easy and I think I know why. Because in my first playtrhough, I was smarter. I took all the time to heal and re-buff and didn't worry about rank. Well, I wanted to stick it to Bart here and there is no time to rest if you wan that. On my billionth attempt I won, beating him in about half of my target time. The fight is not even remotely hard in reality as his attacks are all weak shit. But the ranking system ensures you forget about being smart and just attack attack attack.
SYN Snow helped with that since every time Bart did his cheap move, we could just quickly re-buff and begin attack attack attacking again.
Also I wasted a lot of time on Deshell. It's Imperil that you really need. Deprotect too I guess but I am pretty sure it's Imperil that makes his chain gauge go up faster and you need that.
I think that was my problem when I tried out COM Hope against Cid. With one rav and two COM's, the damage multiplier was lackluster. I didn't think of that till now.
But yeah, I just used up my 300K and 400K CP getting most of everything in Vanille's and Hope's primary roles. Yay Death and Haste and massive stat boosts. Poor Snow is left in the dust because I spent so much of his precious stock of CP getting almost everything I could in Synergist. Still got Sovereign Fist - awesome name by the way - and a bunch of other stuff in COM, though.
Also my second playtrhough has not made me change my mind on Pulse. It's easily the worst part of the game by a considerable margin.
HEY I THINK WE CAN GET RID OF OUR BRANDS ON PULSE 1
LET'S GO TO PULSE.
And and then the Robo-Pope was there and now everyone is like "weelp, this was a giant waste of time."
Also Fang torturing Vanille into getting her Eidolon to come out. What a great couple.

There was a Rise of Mana/Record Keeper collab event in Japan, and since that game never came out the west a lot of people assume this one will be skipped.
Which is a shame because summoning Enlong Flammie would of been pretty rad.

Hi everyone. I recently completed a blind Let's Play of Final Fantasy 6 Advance (also the first FF game I've ever played).
Apparently it went pretty fair off the rails compared to how the game is supposed to be played. Here's a teaser. Yes, that's Umaro soloing the Goddess.
Anyway, here are all my reaction posts: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Part 7 Part 8 Part 9 Part 10 Part 11 Part 12 Part 13 Part 14 Part 15 Part 16 Part 17 Part 18 Part 19 Part 20 Part 21 Part 22 Part 23 Part 24 Part 25 Part 26 Part 27 Part 28 Part 29 Part 30 Part 31 Part 32 Part 33 Part 34 Part 35 Part 36 Part 37 Part 38 Part 39 Part 40 Part 41 Part 42 Part 43 Part 44 Part 45 Part 46 Part 47 Part 48 Part 49 Part 50 Part 51 Part 52 Part 53 Part 54 Part 55 Part 56 Part 57 Part 58 Part 59 Part 60 Part 61 Part 62 Part 63 Part 64 Part 65 Part 66 Part 67 Part 68 Part 69 Part 70 Part 71 Part 72 Part 73 Part 74 Part 75 Part 76

Is this the first time SE has done anything with VR?
Will check out later!
It's a humbling experience when a single stomp can kill you. Not even a stomp on you, just around you.
I remember someone telling Mr. M to try and tackle the Adamantoise in Chapter 12 to get both treasures, and I also saw a guy on YT do just this.
I still can't survive even one move. Not even Snow. I guess it's less an HP thing and more you need accessories to help resist...I dunno, physical damage? Well I have one of those and it's un upgraded. I tried buying two of the ones that give you + 15% resistance each and gave them both to Hope as an experiment. He still died.
So I give up, one of the treasures is beyond me. Kudos to anyone who did manage to beat the thing by now and I hope you had fun spending a month grinding on Pulse or whatever.
The trick is to use Vanille, summon and dismiss Hecaton, and the spam the fuck out of Death. Reload and repeat as needed.
Yep, a Summon knocks him down then spam death with 3 level 5 Sab or if you are pretty strong break him and use Sazh's army of one clone to get the combo meter high and Blitz to do absolutely insane damage.
Farming them is actually pretty easy.

Picked up Tactics A2 again, because that's a game you just come back to time and again.
I still despise traps. I need to do the clan trial for Libra ASAP.
Hope you didn't save Nikkolas, if you avoid both chests then the Adamantortoise will stay where it is. Then you can grind in the post-game, kill it and get both chests
Considering it can kill me in one move, I don't think I'm strong enough.
I did the Summon/Death trick but only once. I did it for teh treasure and that's all. I'm not gonna be cheap and continue to do tht. If I beat one, it will be fair next time.
I asked here before I continued playing the game so I got both treasures thanks to Airman's advice.
There are plenty of them for me to kill legitimately on Pulse.
Right now I'm before Orphan and stopping for the night.
I remember some things about XIII and I forgot some things about XIII. One thing I absolutely remembered was this dickhead boss that, a second later, becomes a normal enemy paired up with one of those Templars. The jackass that is all about you having a constant Sentinel present. Fuck. Him.

Just do not do the mission that has you kill an Adamantortoise till much later, it replaces all of them on pulse with Long Gui which are next to impossible to beat.
Even if you do do it though, that one Adamantortoise is still there on Pulse just the treasures are not. You can run from save point to save point and beat him each time for money and his drop needed to make the ultimate weapons for everyone.

I would be happy if it was TA 2 but TA though? Nah pass.
If they fixed the F-add up law system I would.
Plus TA 2 characters >>>>>> TA characters.
Meanwhile, Record Keeper:
I got a FF 7 5* staff! I planned on using an all-physical team for this realm, but it seems like Reno is back in action until a better mage comes out (or I decide to train Rinoa to level 80).
Also, defeated the +++ fight! Not going anywhere near the Ultimate, but I'll try doing at least the first two solo!Yuffie quests.
TA 2 is better but TA is still a fine game.
I don't know how you are with orbs and abilities, but the solo parts are trivialized if you have some (or all) of the following (basically each tick makes it easier):
Another option is to run Shadowsteel (if you land Sap).
I used this Sunday to bring Yuffie up to Lv 56, she has a 3*++ fist (156 attack) and the Christmas mittens and she's using a 10-uses Tempo Flurry and a 6-uses Drain Life. I'm not having problems with the first two solo runs, but I wonder what will happen when normal enemies stop being irrelevant during the last dungeons.
Oh, the Loner RM! I knew I was forgetting something! Thanks, that will probably make the other quests more doable. :P

For the fourth solo dude (level 90) - the one with the wrecking ball - think about bringing something to mitigate physical damage, because he starts doing big hits. The first three are alright, only the one that paralyzes is annoying if it keeps landing. If you have issues with the trash, level up Steal HP to still have uses for the boss.
I finished my first Ultimate boss. It was supposed to be an easy one (Godo), in a realm where I have some pretty incredible synergy (6+ * Katana, 2 5* swords, 3 native 5* bangles, 2 native 5* hats, the goddamn SOLDIER armor), and still I spent an hour and a half S/L-ing 8 times to end him. When Sap didn't land in the first two tries, I restarted, because then the damage inflicted would not be enough.
The problem is that I don't have a native Wall, Hastega or Medica - I just have two Shared Medicas which are much weaker (and I took them both) since they only heal for ~1200 on a lvl 65 white mage. And you pretty much need one or possibly two of these three kinds of Relics if you want to either inflict enough damage or sustain the damage during the entire fight. Especially since at low HP they start becoming much, much more powerful.
So, next time - no Ultimate. I'll spend my stamina on something else. The item you receive is nice, along with the major orbs (I even dropped a Major Dark One), but I don't see RK as a game in which you should spend two hours on a single battle.
Next ATR dated: January 30.
