Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

I mean. I can see why it could be a problem in multiplayer.
If there are exploits in XIV that give one player a massively and overwhelmingly unfair advantage over another, that probably needs to be fixed.
But aside from that. Like your difficulty in a single player game is largely up to you.

It's not, dominating games through sheer force and glitching games are what I'm all about.
It's just the whole "FFVIII is the most piss easy thing in the galaxy" or "by abusing [x] tactic in [x], you can get through the game in a couple of hours" and stuff. It goes hand in hand with my inability to get far in VI, because I get so far before realizing there are steps, I google it and see people doing minimum step runs and stuff, or hearing about the top tier glitches that make the game a cakewalk like keeping Shadow in the party for as long as possible, and I look at the game I've been playing and just get overwhelmed and stop playing it because I can't deal with the pressure of it all.
I dunno. Something about Final Fantasy comes off as high-maintenance and it's weirdly hard to cope. Or maybe I'm the high-maintenance part of this equation.
DLC Snow is also stronger than Bhunivelze.
As for why game breaking is a bad thing, it's because it makes the game boring. As I have already listed countless times by now, FFVIII is just that is built around being badly designed so there's no cleverness required. You just have to use the tools you are given in the most rudimentary sense. I've not said getting Lion Heart on Disk 1 through ample abuse of Triple Triad is why FFVIII is broken, I've listed ways in which anyone can easily just stumble into trouncing the difficulty forever.

All this talk of making powerful characters has driven me back to Tactics A2.
And I had a dumb little moment just now, trying to get the Night spell from a Lamia in one mission. I managed to reduce the enemy team to just her and let her keep casting Night, but it managed to hit just about everyone except my Blue Mage. And then she stepped on a Sikence trap.
I have a message from another time...Man, I wish more than just humans could be Blue Mages. It is much more of a pain to learn in A2 than it is any other game, though, thanks to the nerfing of Beast Master.
There's a guy modding the game now to be a lot more balanced and provide Moogles in particular options more interesting than Smile scumming and sniping with Gunmanship.
Though all the races have classes a lot more interesting than A2's vanilla snowclones.
Montblanc's a character in XII, too. There's no suggestion that he's a Black Mage or any kind of combat capable character, though. The dream Montblanc from Advance just so happened to be a near identical character from the "real" Ivalice.
Since he's Hurdy and Nono's elder brother, that's all the justification they need to bring him into A2.
Never made the connection that Hurdy and Nono are brothers.

Really? This is extremely relevant to my interests. Any links?
So the beginning of XIII was all a big jumbled mess in my memory. I figured the two groups would have split by now. I guess that comes after the brief air ride and our first look at the Pope. His voice is great. I totally forgot during the Purge you can hear him saying something like "I know this is a great sacrifice for you all and we really appreciate it." The delicious sarcasm dripping with every word is fantastic.
I didn't even remember Techniques were a thing. I just thought everything was Abilities.
Maybe it's the lack of ATB gauges but right now Triple Ravager seems like a bad idea. The thing will plummet back to nothing way too fast.
I've had way too much trouble with some of these fights. You need to be on the ball with your shifts or lose everything. Or spam Potions, which I won't do because there is one thing I remembered about this game and that is money is almost as scarce as towns. Whatever asshole at Square thought to put a whopping 30 gil in a treasure orb was hopefully fired. What a troll. Components don't sell for crap either. Just gotta be content that I'll always be broke.
The worst thing about the Eidolons is not even the stupid gimmick boss fights. The worst thing is that I have to endure these stupid gimmick boss fights for shit I will never, ever use. They're all a giant waste of time.
Some Chapters must be really long and others really short. I'm already on Chapter...3 or 4 and I'm not even 10 hours in.
But yeah, not much else to report. Music's still good, the graphics are even more amazing than I remembered and everything else is basic set-up. Maybe I'll read the Datalog next time I start up the game.

I don't really get or care for the nuances and difficulty variations and game breakers in Final Fantasy. I've been a fan for too long, I've heard too many opinions and strategies. I kinda want to play the games I want to play, liveblog them maybe and go back to blissful ignorance of what people think of the FFVIII team for how they made the game.
Phantasy Star though, those are some classic RP Gs I could submerge myself into.
