Because Kinkajou told me to.
So yeah, anything about Final Fantasy! I guess this would make a good starting point: Which are your favorite games in the series and why?
My two all-time favorites are tied between Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IX. They're both very fun games that don't take themselves too seriously while still being legitimately emotional. On top of that, Zidane is my favorite Final Fantasy lead in the entire series. He's light-hearted, fun, and a generally nice guy to be around. FFV also has the advantage of having one of, if not the best, Job System in an FF game. Both FFV and FFIX make characters customizable while keeping them all unique in their own way. I'm also very fond of Final Fantasy I; it hasn't aged well, but it's classic, and like FFV, I played it tons as a kid.
I assume we'll drift around to various other FF-related discussions as the topic grows, right?

Bahamut is top dog in whatever game he appears in. It's practically mandatory. 'Hallowed Father', anyone?
^ Also Ramuh is the series' archetypal Cool Old Guy.
^^^ Get it? The only installments that called them Espers are VI and XII

INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.Yeah, I got it.
Tactics A2 as well.
Also, I always imagine Ifrit with Kevin Michael Richardson's voice.

I call them summons.
Seems like there is an obligatory trio of Ramuh, Shiva, and Jinn Ifrit, along with an obligatory Bahamut (alternate forms NOT recommended), and other traditions include Leviathan (water wave attack), Carbuncle (reflect), Shoat/Catoblepas (the useless stone effect), Alexander (holy), Phoenix (fire + revive), and other assorted summons.
'Guardian Forces' was a decent name as well. Also, why do I get the idea that Shiva's a bitch?
XII may not have had the usual summons ("Scions" is a pretty cool name), but dear god, references and Shout Outs EVERYWHERE.

Neither Ramuh, Alexander, nor Leviathan have appeared since IX.
Al is gonna be in thirteen though.
Umbran Climax◊^^^ Glen, don't forget Chocobo in the Lighter and Softer installments.
Heck FF 3's summon list has only the basics: Chocobo Shiva Ramuh Ifrit Titan Odin Leviathan Bahamut

INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does. One for each level.
FF 3's sorta the Trope Maker for FF summons but Rydia was the Trope Codifier, mainly because of damn No Export for You.
INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.As much as I and several others pimp Final Fantasy V too much, dang is Golem awesome. A limited-HP wall for all physical attacks? Makes many bosses a lot easier.
While we're on the topic of summons, did anyone play Chocobo's Dungeon 2? In regards to the Bonus Boss, talk about Badass Decay for Leviathan. Of course, the other thing I didn't like about the game was the zoophilia (or maybe I'm just looking way too far into that), but it was good. Mog was awesome as a misanthropic greedy Anti-Hero.

You only got to use him in VI, VII, and VIII.
Trivia: Alexander is the only source of Holy damage in VII.
@Cliche: Let's form the FFV fan club

INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.I only have the OST for Chocobo's Dungeon 2. Nice remixes.
Also, Zeromus. Giant Enemy Crab. Discuss.
"I always liked Alexander. I hated that he wasn't usable in IX after all that build up."
I hate that Ark was so weak after a long cutscene attack like that. Yeah regen healing, but still.
"Also, Zeromus. Giant Enemy Crab. Discuss."
He's a Gravity Lobster you fool, get it right!
Umbran Climax◊^^ I see what you did there.
Dang, his attack pattern is incredibly uncreative though. Big Bang, Black Hole, shaking motion, throw in a few Counter-Attack spells and Meteor when health runs low, eh, it's at least better than Flarewave, Flarewave, etc.

^ That's exactly what I dislike about Cloud of Darkness.
Also, I meant that part about Necron, and the fact that Zeromus is skeletal Stealth Pun
INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.Speaking of literal Ninja Pirate Zombie Robots, you can turn Faris into one.
She's already a pirate.
Turn her into a ninja.
Get her zombified.
Sadly, she isn't robotic.
INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.

Espers.
Only for installments divisible by 6, though.
