So been playing Dragon Quest VIII on both Android and 3DS. While looking over tropes stuff on Fringe Horror, it suggests how much trouble the world would have been in if the Hero held the Sceptre.
But, Wouldn't his curse resistance actually result in him being able to hold it until it would be hidden somewhere secure?
@terumokou, I think you're right. I don't recognize that class standing between the Thieves and Sages either. And I don't think the Dragon Scale has appeared in any of the previous remakes of III either, which makes its inclusion alongside an extra Strength Ring, Words of Wisdom and Cat Suit as one of the bonuses for the Collector's Edition all the more intriguing.
Might the Sage finally be getting another Prestige Class buddy in this version? Or is the newcomer like the Thief and something that'll be avaiable right from the start? How curious...
The DQ subreddit thinks that the new class is the Monster Master
.
The Monster Master...? That'd imply that they're introducing some level of monster recruitment into III, or maybe a wildlife reserve like in VII...
Do you think they'll get the breath attacks like in VI and VII? Or even switch Puff!/Bedragon over...? That could make for some interesting rebalancing, if they take that away from Mages and Sages... but would they really do that...?
Got my hands on the remake.
So far my only complaint is the lack of a reversible cover for the heroine.
You are not alone.Just a bit of trivia for III from Game FAQ poster Then00b Avenger:

There's always some madlad that would be willing to do it.
Honestly i hope the game is full of little easter eggs like that.
You are not alone.Preliminary Zoma's a vtuber!
OMFG, Zoma is doing a (pre-recorded) live play of DQIII!
Okay so basically SE is promoting the game by using a vtuber model of Zoma to play the game with Baramos on commentary (he ends the stream when Hero becomes temp king of Romaria). It's so out of left field and hilarious.

Burning love!Having played Dragon Quest XI, I have a few questions for those who have played the remake:
- How often will you be asked to traverse old regions for sidequests? One of my biggest gripes with Random Encounters is that you will inevitably be bothered by low-level enemies when you're trying to go from Point A to Point B. I realize now that it's not the nature of that trope being solely the issue, but the enemies insisting on fighting you when they know they have no chance. How effective are the repels (I think it was some kind of white powder?) in execution, and how easy/soon are they to obtain?
- How's the music? One big gripe I had with Dragon Quest XI was the utter lack of variety in its soundtrack, the overworld theme being an extreme offender (at least you had the option of using tracks from a previous game that wasn't so bombastic and loud).

Havent played the remake, but from memory DQ 3 doesnt have much in the way of sidequests at all?
It's more one those old JRPG where you just go from a to b to C like some of the old Final Fantasies. There's some backtracking on the world map but that's obliviated by Zoom.

I'd probably categorize that more under Superboss.

ASAB: All Sponsors Are Bad.

That said, if DQ ever does start doing new game plus, I would definitely say Gospel Ring should be included.
