That does sound mysterious...
I liked the crafting system until I realized how much stuff I'd need to make useful things.
The Protomen enhanced my life.I pretty much broke Dragon Quest VIII over my knee once I got access to Neos and started making absurdly good armor way ahead of schedule.
but HOW?Rashers and Stripes can eat all of the dicks. All of them. Everywhere. I want them to choke on them so that they die horrible ignominious deaths.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Oh wow. I'm liking how both versions of the game look. Makes me want them to announce a localisation soon.
Edit: By that I mean the PS 4 version. I think it's pretty likely that the 3DS version will get localised seeing that Nintendo absolutely adores Dragon Quest.

I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.I hope the port gets an orchestral soundtrack like VIII's did.
but HOW?I just want a release date.
i. hear. a. sound. So in the PS 4 version you can walk around during battles, but the enemies and your party don't move, since it's still a turn based thing without distance mattering.
What's the point?
Maybe relative placement affects damage? Like, if you're behind the enemy you get a critical hit or something?
Not Three Laws compliant.I'd like to think that it's trying to be reminiscent of how battles proceeded in the previous game, but having never played that game (still severely miffed that they haven't even bothered to localize any of the many iterations of X), I'm unsure how close I am with that assumption.
Back when I watched videos of DQ X, it looked like players could move their avatars around while still commanding their characters as if it were a traditional DQ game, but it seemed mostly aesthetic and didn't affect any of the battle mechanics at all. And while I know that the game had a collaboration event with FF XIV, I don't know if DQ X included elements such as AOE-warning patterns like FF XIV does, which required you to move your character out of the area to avoid/mitigate damage.
While I was hoping it would turn the game into a semi-action RPG with the free movement (ex basic attacks can be executed with a button press, other commands require the requisite menu scrolling), so far, XI's movement looks like it's also just for aesthetics, which I feel is a waste of potential if true (if they were just going to do that, they may as well have just made it similar to IX's incarnation of combat, where everyone was constantly shifting their positions on the battlefield. Which also did nothing, but was at least interesting to look at).

Anytime someone tries to bring action into an RPG, I want to slap them.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.Considering how traditional the series always is, I really doubt they'd do anything like that anyway; it's just a bit of wishful thinking on my end.
The 3DS version looks like it'll be the version for me, personally.
Anyway, playing through the Monster Arena quests in Dragon Quest VIII has really made me want to see another game in the Monsters sub-series localized. I don't know how likely it is, but Enix has been a lot better about localizing games in the past couple of years and Nintendo seems a lot more eager to help pick up the slack.
Possibly just wishful thinking, but I'm hoping to see more Mons games for the 3DS that aren't Pokemon.
The PS 4 version does look very pretty, but I might roll for the 3DS one myself as well.
I'm still on the fence about getting both versions, since I don't know which I really prefer. I currently own a lot of the main DQ games on my 3DS or on my phone, so I kind of want XI on the 3DS just to keep everything mobile. On the other hand, even though I have VIII on my 3DS as well, it feels like it's been so long since we had a game like VIII that I want to get XI on my PS 4 just for the HD-ness of a non-chibi-style Dragon Quest game (that also isn't a Warriors-style spin-off).
Ideally though, I want a Switch version, cause then I'd technically fulfill both of my reasons (even if the Switch version was just a touched up version of the 3DS style).
Regarding the Monsters series, I never really played any of them, but I was really interested in the Battle Road Victory game they had on the Wii (and arcade) in Japan. Of course, that was never ported over, and I think they made a sequel to that game that also wasn't ported over. That said, I tend to love Mons games and would play a newer one if they made it. I should probably get Joker for the DS if I find another cartridge again, if only because I have no idea if they'll localize any other DQ spin-offs that aren't Heroes (and possibly Builders).
Lately I've been thinking about figuring out a way to play my copy of Dragon Quest VIII on the computer so I could stream it for my friends. Any ideas on how I could do that- or, failing that, use an emulator to get the closest thing to it?
but HOW?Well, capture cards are indeed a thing, and PS 2 emulation has made great strides in recent years, even if it's far from perfect- No clue if DQVIII is one of the problem games or not, though.
I can't offer links here thanks to site policy, though.
I sure said that!I have no idea what capture cards are.
EDIT: Oh, game footage recorders. Hm.

but HOW?dq8 runs perfectly on a decent pc. you'll run into a little bit of slowdown at 2x native res tho.
Wait, have you actually run it on an emulator before? If so, could you DM me some info? :D
but HOW?My favorite Monsters game is still Monsters 2 for GBC.. I eventually made my party 3 Rainhawks and just owned everything. It was glorious.
The Protomen enhanced my life. There's going to be a Nintendo Direct for the 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI tomorrow, and it's stated that it'll be 14 minutes long.

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests.
So instead of an alchemy pot, we get a worktable?
Does this mean combining consumables is gone?
Unless you "smith" together two medicinal herbs and it somehow works.
