Sticky plz.
Alas, this is not a game.
Following the events of [REDACTED], we should probably get some rules in this place. Not hard-and-fast, you-will-obey, on-pain-of-death rules, of course; more a sort of guideline for how to keep things fun and entertaining for all involved. Obviously, FG is all about fun, but these rules are intended to make sure it stays that way.
- Try to stay vaguely on topic. You can be flexible; sometimes the rules need changing, and OPs, there's no point in trying to make Tropers play a game they don't want to. But if the game is "let's pretend to be kittens", don't derail into "let's pretend to be robot samurai". Remember, anyone can make a thread here, so if you don't see a game that interests you, make your own thread for that. You don't need to ruin other people's games.
- On that note, please don't turn every thread into a free-for-all fight. There is a thread
for that. More generally, you don't need to derail every thread into a roleplaying game. As it happens, we have an entire subforum for if you want to roleplay.
- If you are supposed to be roleplaying, please refrain from godmodding. It's not funny, it's not fair, and it disrupts the game. That means no playing unbeatable characters. Be especially careful when killing other people's characters. Give them a fair chance; rather than writing "*shoots That Troper's head off*", consider "*fires gun at That Troper's face*". The line between Godmodding and regular fighting can be somewhat nebulous, so please exercise your common sense and personal judgement.
- Be wary of conversational derails. They're a fact of life on these forums, but try not to go overboard, or you may find there isn't a game left.
- Take your drama someplace else. FG isn't the place for that shit. We're here to have fun, not start a Flame War.
- Don't write your posts in a way that makes it hard for other tropers to participate in the game: Remember that forum games are a collaborative project, not a competition. Please do not write your posts with the intention of trying to one up other people by making it hard for them to build upon your post in a constructive way.
- No sex or fetish games. Let's keep this vaguely family friendly.
- Please bump responsibly. Due to the amount of games played every day, it's normal for a thread to be knocked off of the first page within hours. With that in mind, regulars will wait several days or a few weeks before bumping. Please use the same amount of courtesy. Threads that are time-sensitive (such as YIAY
) do allow a bit of leeway regarding this rule, in case the user presenting the prompt needs to be pinged or if there are not enough responses after time has passed.
- Above all, have fun! This being Forum Games, that's what we all want, right? These rules are not intended to oppress anyone, but rather as a gentle reminder of how to avoid that dreaded Internet Backdraft. That way, we can all enjoy ourselves. ^_^
EDIT:
- The avatar minimum and the keep sockpuppeting to a minimum rule have been removed from the rule list.
- Don't write your posts in a way that makes it hard for other tropers to participate in the game rule has been added to the rules list
- Added "no sex or fetish games" rule.
- Added a rule regarding thread bumping.

That's why I'm here.
Probably to simply contact a mod I guess?
Edit: Or alternatively, you can bring this up to Ask The Tropers.

Hot take: I actually like Yoshi's New Island and it's soundtrack.thank god someone brought it up
it's like meeega annoying
and also someone told him it's "good to leave two posts in between"
and then he just started leaving only two posts in between for all of his posts
really makes games like Guess the next user unfun </3
Welcome, my little friend! Or should I say...friends?They're still sandwich posting (see the Trope Namer Syndrome thread) even after probably being told not to.
Now what?OK, this is starting to really annoy me.
KIRBY PLUSH
done.
hope it's composed well enough, it was my first time doing something like this.
edit: GODDAMNIT I MISSED THE FACT THAT I ACCIDENTALLY PASTED THE TITLE INTO THE BODY OF THE TEXT, FUCK—

Welcome, my little friend! Or should I say...friends?
I think you can edit it since it's possible to edit Ask The Tropers titles? I think I once edited my title somewhere in the Media Finder (Which uses the same messenging system as Ask The Tropers) and it can be done I guess?
In regard to sandwiching in posts, what if the thread hasn't been updated for a long time and you ended up sandwiching in a post in order to move the game along. Would that still be against the rules, even if there was a reason why the posts ended up being sandwiched in, such as lack of activity to the thread?
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!
Probably not, this would be the only acceptable use of sandwiching.
Oh okay. I was curious about how sandwiching in posts works on the Forum games.
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!![]()
![]()
generally that and asking questions/responding to questions on the Guess the ___ games are completely acceptable forms of sandwich-posting.
Ignore, problem solved

https://enigmatics.org/puzzles/If I launched a Forum Game before I actually manage to type up the rules for it, how can I get it locked?
Edit: Resolved.

Now what? Are Walking Spoiler characters allowed in games like TV Tropes Hear Me Out or Elim Game?
AITA for injecting my daughter with a known lethal substance?
I believe so.
My suggestions to what should be included:
- Singular nouns
- Adverbs
- Verbs
- Country names
- Adjectives
- Nationalities
My suggestions to what to omit:
- Plural nouns
- Scientific groups
- Names of people
- Real-Life Places such as shops, restaurants...

Little confused. Wouldn't Country Names fall into real-life places? Beyond that, I can get behind this
By real life places, I mean restaurants, coffee shops, mall names...
Okay then, I guess that's fine. We'll need a mod to add that to the rules though
Which of the two ISOT
map game threads
should we keep?

Currently playing Yooka-ReplayleeI've been having a thought about the AITA game thread.
Often a player will reply to a post, then reserve the space while they write up their AITA entry. The problem is that it leads to a pattern of the thread having to be bumped, because editing a post doesn't mark it as unread again (and it's less likely someone's going to check a read thread after however long it takes to write the entry).
Might it benefit from a "write the fictional AITA entry first" rule? The reply isn't usually connected to the post above, so there's no reason a player can't write it before they post.
TV Tropes's No. 1 bread themed lesbian. she/her, fae/faerA while back, I proposed this
. While a majority of people would prefer there being alternate scenarios rather than replacing them outright, I feel like those alternates should be on the thread soon.
Since the original poster hasn't posted anything since 2019, would it be alright if I ask a mod to put the alternate scenarios in the original post?
BTW, please call me Jake.
