You can't drain magic them anymore.
To put it simply, the whole stat was kinda pointless to have. Besides for one spell. However, in a remake, every monster could have a physical attack to replenish it, heh.
Quest 64 threadYes. But that's because they don't all have the ability to physical attack.
Besides that, the A.I. is beyond terrible. As we both know. They probably wouldn't bother to physical attack without magic. Outside of being Silenced. Although if it was programmed like that...
Quest 64 threadYes. Besides moving.
I can't think of a single monster who couldn't do a physical attack, really. ...Okay, except Judgment. Literally. But remember the whole "stand around and do nothing to get a Magic Point back" from the remake? Could be applied to any monster who can't move naturally... which is Judgment. :/
Quest 64 threadIt would be because... they don't have a physical attack. And actually, about 11 monsters can do that.(remake only) A bit less can do that in there.
They weren't programmed with that, so it has nothing to do with A.I. at all.
Quest 64 threadI know why mechanically — it's amusing from a suspension of disbelief standpoint.
"Hey, I'm a 20-foot wyvern getting attacked by a prepubescent kid. I think I'll sit here casting really slow spells instead of walking up and chomping his face off."
"Hey, I'm a highway robber monster with a club longer than my victim is tall. WIND CUTTERRRRRR"

Well, it was above the ground.
But then again, you see Dragons attacking more with breath weapons, etc. than a physical attack. Plus, the animation would've been harder if he took a chomp out.
Well, the game was rushed, to be fair.
Still, it's a very solid game. I need to really make the Trivia page.
I mean, he could originally ride a horse! Which obviously didn't come about till OOT.
Then again, OOT could've taken notes from Quest. Impa looks a lot like Shannon. Epona... the horse riding, Night and Day being fully realized.
Quest 64 threadIt was planned to have certain monsters appear depending on the time of day.
This wasn't realized. However, the day/night progression atleast shows it takes place in real time.(not our real time, the in-game version) This actually means one can determine how many months/etc. Brian saved the world. Neat for story purposes, atleast. Or Fanfics.
Quest 64 threadThankfully, that's not the case.
This is the most casual of RPG's, and it's actually a good thing. You can go at your speed completely. My personal suggestion in how to start off, besides the Water 7, is to just keep playing, letting yourself get killed, and using tons of magic.(not physical attacks) You can easily train all stats if you start off with a plan.
Quest 64 threadNot "seasonal", actually. It doesn't specify the months. Just says "Days" in your save spot.
Anyway, it is based upon elements, and some of the areas do affect elements. Forests increase Wind damage, the Desert increases Fire damage, I can't remember which one was for Caves and Fields. I think Caves were Earth and Fields were Water. Also, I believe Blue Cave is special and so is Boil Hole an increase the obvious elements.
As for Mammon's World, there doesn't seem to be a difference. It's also entirely possible that it has nothing to do with the environment and more where the Boss is.
Quest 64 threadI was thinking that Mammon's World boosts all magic, being that it's made from magic itself. Unlike Isle of Skye, which existed before Nepty.
This is also even more justified since Mammon is non-elemental.(even though all his attack are fire-based. Starlight Supernova does seem to be partially wind-like, though.
Quest 64 thread

No. Not at all. You drain their actual magic, a different stat. It's kind of like how you drain their HP via attacks.
They are completely different meters.
