Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain
It's just a picture of a guy that does not show that he is a villain, ineffectual, or deserving of sympathy. This will probably need to be a two-part pic.

Anyone have a pic of Spike with arrows sticking out of him, looking sad, tied to a chair?

Eh, I'll go look.

EDIT:

This is Spike looking Ineffectual and vaguely Villainous but unfortunately not Sympathetic.

EDIT 2: Gah, crappy fanart of what I actually was looking for.

[up] Caption required for explanation. Otherwise it's just a picture of two kids and a puddle.

South Park Satan

Ineffectual Villain? Check.

Sympathetic? Doesn't come through so well in the pic I linked. VERY difficult to get both sympathetic and villain clearly across in an image though. I think the idea might need to be scrapped.

You're implying that Satan wouldn't be recognizable as a villain? Come on, he's the embodiment of evil in at least the most common religion in the western world. If you can find an image of him that is both ineffectual and pitiable, that would be quite sufficient.

The villain part shouldn't even need clarification.

[up]I said "Check". As in, "Yup". It's the sympathetic part I'm not sure of.

EDIT: Aaaand I just got what you meant. Right, yeah, I'm there now.

Satan will probably have something SOMEwhere...

Try enclosing the word in equal signs on each side, then enclosing THAT in square brackets.

It's not that big a deal, but it's best to get into the habit of avoiding accidental linking; if your word happens to lead to a trope then it might throw people off.

EDIT: As for what's actually on topic, I was referring to the "to get both sympathetic and villain" part; Satan's clearly the latter.

The Amoeba Boys work, but I don't know if you could get an image of them without it being JAFAAC.

Why not Team Rocket? Even people who never played Pokemon in their life know who Team Rocket is. Perhaps a pic of them "blasting off again"? That tends to happen to them a lot you know...

There comes a time when one must decide: should I set that on fire, or not?

Doesn't show them as sympathetic, nor does it even show them as ineffectual (Beyond being hurt).

Maybe a picture of Dr. Drakken being especially pathetic? I'd guess even people who haven't watched Kim Possible would recognize him as a villain, so it's more a matter of finding one showing him to be ineffectual.

Not actually serious.

No, neither Doctor Drakken or Team Rocket are recognizable enough in their own merit.

That would be hilarious if it weren't for the fact that the text would shrink too small to be read.

We could see if Rodney could make the text bubbles larger for us on the Carpenter one. It's really good.

The Mr. Space Criminal one helps show that this kind of villain is supposed to be pitiful.

When I think of this trope, I immediately think of Dr. Light. Maybe there's a good image of him out there.
