The Last Kids on Earth

In the desolate wasteland that was once Earth, two unlikely heroes emerged from the ashes of civilization. Ohio and Virginia, both barely teenagers, wandered through the ruins of cities long abandoned, their footsteps echoing in the eerie silence that permeated the world. No laughter of children, no cries of infants – just the howling wind and the occasional growl of mutated creatures in the distance.

Ohio, a frail boy with a wild imagination, coughed weakly as they trudged through the sand. His illness, a remnant of the world before, threatened to claim him at any moment. Yet, his eyes sparkled with creativity and hope, for he possessed an extraordinary gift – the ability to bring his drawings to life.

Virginia, his best friend and protector, was the complete opposite. Wild and mischievous, she found joy in the little things, often setting up elaborate pranks using debris from the old world. Her laughter, a rare sound in this grim reality, would echo through empty streets as she pulled off another successful joke, momentarily lifting their spirits.

But it wasn't all fun and games. When faced with threats, Virginia's demeanor would change drastically. She'd dispatch mutated monsters with a cold efficiency that belied her age, her mirror-traveling abilities allowing her to strike from unexpected angles. Ohio would watch, a mix of awe and fear in his eyes, as she eliminated their enemies without a hint of remorse or hesitation.

Their greatest challenge, however, came in the form of Doctor Gorgon, a scientist warped by the cataclysm into a terrifying creature with the power to petrify living beings. The doctor, once a respected researcher, had become obsessed with the children's unique abilities. He pursued them relentlessly across the barren landscape, his adult mind fixated on capturing and experimenting on the last two kids on Earth.

During one of their many confrontations, Doctor Gorgon cornered the duo in the ruins of an old school. As he approached, a maniacal grin on his face, Virginia stepped forward.

"You're pathetic, you know that?" she spat. "A grown man chasing kids across a dead world. What do you think you'll achieve? Bring back the old days? News flash, doc – it's over. The world moved on, and you're just a sad reminder of everything that went wrong."

Enraged, Doctor Gorgon lunged at Virginia, his eyes glowing with petrifying energy. But Ohio, summoning his strength, quickly sketched a shield and brought it to life, deflecting the doctor's gaze. Virginia used the distraction to dive through a broken mirror, reappearing behind Gorgon and delivering a devastating blow.

As the doctor fell, his mutated form began to crackle with energy. In a brilliant flash of light, he exploded, leaving behind nothing but a pile of stone fragments – a fitting end for the man who turned others to stone.

With their nemesis defeated, Ohio and Virginia continued their journey through the empty world, clinging to each other and their unique powers – the last remnants of wonder in a universe that had lost its magic.

This sounds like it would a fun video game. Even if some of the mechanics would be hard to make.
